Some friends and I were in Aberdeen and decided to stop by for brunch. This place was hopping, but we only had to wait maybe two minutes for a table to be cleared. I ordered one of the make your own omelets and chose ham, cheese, and green peppers, plus a side of grits and a biscuit. I'd say it took probably 15 minutes for our food to come out. Unfortunately, I was given the wrong omelet. The hostess noticed and caught it right when I was looking up to call her. She had the correct one in her hand, so no biggie. The food was good! Amazing food using the freshest ingredients. I didn't realize you could get Michelin quality food in a small town like Southern Pines! We did have to wait on a seat but just meandered around a few stores on the same strip and before we knew it, the wait was over. The bar and all tables were bustling with tourists and locals. I had an egg white frittata bursting with roasted tomatoes and goat cheese topped with arugula. My husband had a huge salad and added perfectly cooked grilled shrimp. Mason's is seriously one of the best spots around--if you can get a seat! It gets busy, but for good reason. We had the egg white frittata and the chicken egg plate, and both were amazing. Super fresh, full of flavor, and just really well done. The drinks were just as good--Bloody Mary was on point and the mimosa had really good champagne, not the usual watered-down stuff. Came here for brunch before heading out to Holden Beach. We started with the donut holes which were absolutely delicious. Next I shared The Train Wreck with my friend and got a side of potatoes. It was all really yummy, the chicken was so moist and delicious and I'm picky about my breakfast potatoes but these were great! The coffee was good too, I just had a cup of regular old coffee but it was good. Consistently the best brunch we've had in the area. All fresh, all made-to-order and delicious. Service is also always outstanding as well.

I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and as you can see in the photo, the batter wasn't fully cooked -- it looked discolored and underdone. That was already a letdown, so I moved on to my fries, only to find a long hair in my ranch (which they charge 50¢ each for, and we had two).When our server came back to ask if we wanted boxes, we politely mentioned that we weren't satisfied with the meal and just wanted one box for our fries. She gave us a blank stare, walked away, then returned with two boxes and the check. There was no apology or acknowledgment at all. My family and friends were in the area visiting and stopped by to get some good breakfast before starting our day. The food was amazing! The toast was fluffy-airy- and just melted in my mouth. This was the best toast that we had ever ate. Potatoes were crispy- not oily- and tasted super freshly cooked. Pancakes are amazingly delicious and huge! The blueberries & strawberries were big, juicy sweet, and delicious. Ms. Joy (I believe was her name- elder lady helping us) - she was extremely sweet, attentive & friendly. Didn't see if there was a kids menu available. We loved the atmosphere, modern look and super nice staff. This is a gem in small town Aberdeen. Make sure to come early or be prepared for at least a 30min wait on a Sunday late morning. They were very busy and took a while for us to get our food. There is only indoor seating, no outdoor seating. While we were waiting, it was cool to see the juicer in action, making fresh orange juice from whole oranges. They serve breakfast all day but I decided to go with a brunch meal. I was disappointed they ran out of cinnamon rolls. I ended up ordering the Birdies Hot Mess without smoked ham and with a biscuit. It came in a cute small skillet, topped with sausage gravy and garnished with fresh diced chives. It was good, very filling. I wished it had more gravy and wished the potatoes were more crispy. The biscuit was a large sized portion, fluffy and so buttery. The to-go coffee cup lid was a bit flimsy and no coffee holder was provided, so had to wait till it cooled down. Inside was cute with the bright yellow booth seat and the large Aberdeen light sign. The see-through salt and pepper Mason jars on each table were a cute touch. Super cool place in downtown Aberdeen. I wish there was a way to get call ahead reservations or reserve online, but I also understand this is a small town restaurant, which is where it gets part of its charm. Plenty of cute shops downtown to visit while waiting, luckily, because you will be waiting...but definitely worth the wait. The French toast and the biscuits are so delicious. The sausage gravy and the chicken....omg. Southerners really do it best. Reminds me of my dad's side's cooking. Super cool inside. Love the Aberdeen sign. Really like the bar area too, very modern.
