Drive thru is quick and maybe rushed but with the traffic it makes sense. There's a lot of variety in what you can order and I love that. I've never seen a commercial for this spot or ever even heard or seen anything about them other than seeing their locations. So it was late at night and not much else was open as I was travelling through the area so I decided to finally sample Cook Out at this Hattiesburg location. The inside looked interesting to me and I enjoyed the vibe. The menu also intrigued me with some really great sounding options and amazing prices on their combo meals. So I decided to go with a double cheeseburger combo with onion rings and coleslaw. I have the say the "double" cheeseburger meat was thinner than many other fast food joints single patty. The flavor of the burger left a lot to be desired and I would say even McDonald's has a better flavored burger. The onion rings and coleslaw were alright but the cheeseburger was a huge disappointment. Overall I just don't see myself stopping in to eat at any Cook Out location again. read more

On 5/27/24 we stopped at Cook Out while traveling through Hattiesburg, MS. The food was just OK nothing special. My wife went into the restroom, she went into the first stall had pee all over the toilet and floor. So then she went to the handicap stall to use. it. It was not much better it did not have one stitch of toilet paper out of the 2 toilet paper holders in there. The mail bathroom wasn't much better. The paper towel holder did not work. When I came up the restroom, my wife was already talking to the manager on duty when the manager said something to the employee & employee had a grin on her face of laughter. I'm sorry management needs to take this a little bit more serious. The restaurant looked horrible tables weren't cleaned wiped down from the day before on the counter that I was standing there was still water ring from a cup from the day before. We got to Cook Out right at 11:00am even though they open for 10:30 AM still there is no way they had that many customers to mess up all the tables where they had to be wiped down and the bathrooms to be that bad off at the beginning of the day. All these things should have been taken care of the night before by the closing manager and also the opening mgr should check these things to make sure they are done before the restaurant is opened for business. Over the years I've driven by and wondered why folks were pulled out into hardy street trying to turn in to this place. Especially with their specials they have on their sign such as "LARGE BURGER ONION RINGS SIDE QUESADILLA" or "CHICKEN FRIED SHAKE ONION RING BURGER". I'm being serious. We have officially decided to start supporting Cook Out and make it our number one burger joint! We really appreciate them!! We tried it for the first time and I had only a few disappointments. There was hardly anybody working there and the guy that served us was... like a robot and not particularly nice. The lady that helped us with our shakes was very nice though. It just felt like we were the only ones there. It was also a little bit dirty. I find myself always comparing places to Walt Disney World. Not only is it the happiest place on earth, but it's also the cleanest and has the politest staff (or cast members) anywhere! Everything from the many, many restaurants to the streets and restrooms - even the trash cans are spotless! Stop and think about how many people go through DW in a single day! And our local, tiny restaurants and grocery stores have the nastiest bathrooms and even eating areas. They have NO excuses. There was also no music playing and it was waaay too quiet. Don't get me wrong, I love cookout. But the NIGHTTIME crew is way better and nicer than a midday crew. I got two trays that were burned through because I have white cheddar bites. But the sandwiches look fine from what I see, but I ordered a vanilla shake and got just a cup of ice cream. I would love to give this more starts but I just can't. This was out first trip. I really wanted to love this place. It was very clean. It has Christian music playing- but the cashiers are awful. Their attitudes stink. I had questions about the menu being my first time- they acted like it pissed them off and as if I was stupid for asking. My food came out wrong (turns out the cashier input my order wrong) so one of my kids was done eating completely before my food even came out- my son had only have his order and when I told them his side item was missing they sent me back to the table to get his order to "show them then" as if I was lying over a side item. The shakes was so thick we was still trying to drink then literally an hour and half later.... the cookout fries was completely sogged in grease and unable to eat them.
