Being hamburger lovers, my spouse and I had to give this place a try and it was a nice surprise. Most people think hamburgers are a simple, easy food to make. But there's an art to it and Ed's Burger Joint got it right! It's definitely worth the somewhat higher prices to eat there. The burger tasted phenomenal and I am extremely picky when it comes to hamburger meat. The fries were very good, hot and perfectly crispy, as fries should be. You can eat inside or outside at this place and it has classic decor with great music. The food and atmosphere gives off that fun feeling of being at an amusement park. Ed's is one of those places that long after your visit you still keep thinking about how good the food was and how you can't wait to go back. It will definitely be my go-to hamburger place when I am in Hattiesburg. Note: I saw someone left a 3-star review about Ed's. Who the heck goes to a hamburger joint to get a turkey burger? I don't know why we've never been here until tonight, but it's your typical collegetown burger joint. We only come to Hattie to visit family, and we were in the area for Christmas. I wanted to try their gluten-free buns, which did NOT disappoint. Their fries risk cross-contamination, but I took some enzymes and didn't have any side effects. They have a nice dog-friendly patio with ample seating. Our mini goldendoodle had the best time! We will definitely be back. read more

I got a great hamburger & onion rings ! It was suggested to me by one of the servers . Its called a Jam Burger . Its a bacon type of relish with cooked onions & lightly sweet to taste on top of my burger . Homemade onion rings made on the spot when you order them . I ate at the bar . Its a happening place . Amazing food. Had no complaints. Servings were huge. Very satisfied with the burgers and shakes we ordered.

The food was mediocre at best. My husband and I both got the turkey burger with fries and 2 drinks which came out to about $33 before tip. The amount of fries you get is laughable. The service for a Sunday afternoon was pretty quick but the fries came out room temperature. What I did love was the activities available outside on the patio, the giant connect four, hula hoops, ping pong, etc. They are also dog friendly. I don't think it'll be a place we'd ever go back to if we're ever in town again but I think if you're a local and looking for a cool spot to hang out for a while and grab a quick bite to eat, this would be the place. read more

Today I had to go to Laurel, Ms to pick up a vechile. On the way back we decided to stop at Ed's Burgers in Hattiesburg, Ms.. My wife just got a normal burger and I got the June special burger which had Jerk sauce & pineapple relish on it. My burger had a very good taste overall but the burgers were over cooked. Delicious. The burger was absolutely delicious. Salt to patty ratio was great. The bacon was the perfect crispiness. The burger comes with two patties, which I was thankful for since they were smash patties. I ordered the fries to go with them and they were good; however, my partner had the tots and they were better so I'll definitely order those next time. We walked into the restaurant at just the right time because after we ordered, there was a line out the door and the people didn't stop coming. So glad we found this place for our one night stay in Hattiesburg. The line was long, but somehow there was plenty of seating. Seemingly unpopular opinion here, but I think this is one of the most overrated, mediocre restaurants in Hattiesburg. The whole place is rather obviously built around an influencer, Instagram collage-friendly standard with the associated subpar, overpriced food often seen in similar establishments. The shakes are good, but cost an arm and a leg. Maybe I've just been unlucky the times I've went, but every burger I have ever eaten here has been either uncomfortably dry, way overcooked, or of course both. The sides are the one saving grace on the menu in terms of quality to price ratio, and that plus the atmosphere/outdoor seating areas are the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. I'd maybe, MAYBE very hesitantly recommend trying it if you're in town, but I seriously doubt you'll want to visit more than once. read more

A stop at Ed's usually follows a trip to the Lucky Rabbit. I order a different burger each time and I have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and willing to answer any questions we have about the menu. I love decor and atmosphere inside the building. I also love that they have an area for people to hang out and play outside. I have previously eaten the Bacon Cheeseburger, the Chili Cheeseburger, and the 'Shroom Burger. We've shared fries, tots, and onion rings in various forms and they were all tasty. And their milk shakes - they're divine and HUGE. We have figured out that it's best for us to share an app and a burger if we want a shake. Otherwise, we'd be too full. read more

While on a trip we drove past this 2 story burger joint. Looked cool so we went inside and ordered some really good juicy burgers! I had the fried jalapeño burger. It was good but missing sweet jam. Next time I'll Know to order it. We had the fried pickles ..... not my favorite so I won't orders those again. The milkshakes OMG! Worth it! Get it. Slurp them up and enjoy. I don't know what their usual wait times are like, so today's experience for me may not be the norm. Mid-afternoon on a Friday. Ordered a burger and shake to-go. Burger came out in ~10 minutes. Perfect. I then sat at the bar waiting on my shake for another 20 minutes. Needless to say, the burger was cold at that point. The patties also seemed very dry, probably from sitting for 30 minutes. Ed's is one of our go-to places when we are in Hattiesburg for something. The burgers are nicely sized with a good grill char on them. They have a few creative burgers that are unique. I had the El Magooey (two patties with pimento cheese between and on top, kind of like a Juicy Lucy burger) and it was divine! The tater tots were nice. The fries have the skins on them which is a little different but tasty. They have a good selection of draft brews, but I had to default to an old friend --- PBR in a can! And cheap! (as it should be). The staff is super friendly, and the overall atmosphere is very casual. A great place to stay a while and eat and socialize. It gets loud and crowded at peak times, but the food comes out quickly. The outside seating is fun if the weather cooperates. The parking is odd. The spaces close up are either handicapped spots or for To-Go orders. It is best to park around back in the big shopping center parking lot and walk up. read more

Our very first time since the opening of Ed's. The pros... Ordered the Ed's Melt with fries and my other half had the same with onion rings. We sat at the bar, so we got to skip standing in line to order. The server was very friendly and accommodating. I was NOT impressed with the beer choices, especially, served in 12oz. cans. The way that the food was served in little drive in cartons was not impressive at all. Anyway, long story short, the food was good but if I had to stand in line to place my order and get my own beverage, I might as well go to McDonalds. Sitting at the bar, you pay for everything as soon as you order, just as you would standing in line, not a fan. We really would have liked another beer or two but we were never asked and had already paid. Anyway, good food but we did not care for the process, very informal. OMGOODNESS! What a fun place to stop, just minutes from interstate. The staff greeted us with a smile and so friendly. Lots of burgers to choose from. Finally, I chose the melt, which was a great choice...'long drive and it was the boom! The burger had such a great taste, loved every juicy-bite! My hubby of course order a big burgers that was amazing! Yes, he had a delicious Vanilla milkshake to go with his &fries.... I would say give them a ten hands down! Y'all I'm not kidding this was the best burger i have ever had!! We drove 2.5 hours to come here and I hope I get the chance to come back! The fries were amazing. My friend ordered sweet potato fries and I swear those were the best ones I've ever had, too! The atmosphere is so cute and this would be such a good place for a family meal! We returned to Ed's one year later, once again driving through Hattiesburg on our way to Spring Break in Florida. This time around, it was just as busy, but the service was not great, they were out of gluten free buns, and they messed up our order and took too long to fix it (we had all finished our meals by the time my daughter's correct order came out). Despite the lackluster experience, the food was still amazing! The burgers are to die for. Sweet potato fries are on point. I'm sure we will be back again next year. read more

I've had better burgers and more economical, the plus side they were served hot. The chopped salad was basic, but passable I make better one at home . Burgers were good, though a bit pricey for what we received. Service was what I would expect for a walk up counter.

I called in a pickup order including a malt. When I arrived, my malt (thicker shake) was being made. I observed the server preparing it. He apparently underestimated the ingredients because once he poured the malt into the cup, it was only about half full. He proceeded to make a face, USED TAP water to retrieve the residual malt from the silver container, and poured MILKY WATER into my cup. The cup was still not full, so he flipped the malt upside-down for "appearances" and placed it in the freezer, not knowing I had already arrived and witnessed all of this. Once I arrived at the counter, I attempted to explain to the cashier what I observed, but I was repeatedly cut off and condescendingly mansplained the process. I was so taken aback by the encounter; I just walked away without causing a scene. Needless to say, I did not receive any of the items I ordered and will not return to this rude establishment. I called and spoke with a manager who was pretty nice about the entire situation and offered to address/fix the problem. He stated he was going to pull the camera footage and get back with me, however, I did not hear back from him. I'm thinking, IF they pulled the footage, they saw exactly what I witnessed and how I was addressed. read more
