I love Cook Out and was so thrilled to be ordering a tray after a long day of hiking. For fast food, this place is different. I had the best bacon cheeseburger I've had in a long time. My wife ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and asked for slaw which she assumed would be as a side. When the order came to our table, she notices a cup of slaw wasnt there so asked for her cup. They gave it to her bout hesitation then she took a bite of her sandwich and realized they put the slaw on it which she said was delicious. I had forgotten that a slaw burger was a thing in the south. Anyhow the price for two was about what it cost for one at a lot of other places. I have always heard great things about Cook Out, so I decided to stop here for some late-night bites and a milkshake. There was a line, but it moved very quickly. There was also plenty of seating inside the restaurant. The menu is large, with lots of options for the plates. I settled on a jr. plate with a cheese quesadilla, onion rings, coleslaw, and a diet coke. I also tried some hushpuppies off a friend's plate, and they were delicious. I also ordered an Oreo milkshake to share with my husband. The food came out quickly, and was served in to-go containers. Everything was hot, and you could tell the frying oil wasn't old. Everything was okay, not great, but it seemed like the food would be great after a night out. The milkshake was delicious though, and so thick that you had to eat it with a spoon. We stopped it here after having seen these restaurants before and wanted to give it a try. You order at the counter and then they call out your order. Everything is packed to go. The upstairs seating is more for bigger groups so keep that mind before you go upstairs. We both ordered off the side of the menu where you pick items from each section which kind of gives you the option to try several items at smaller portions The burgers come plain and you can pick your toppings or style. I chose to do the style with nacho cheese, bacon and grilled onions. It was really good I do however wish they would have salted the patty to enhance the flavor. I opted for the hush puppies and onion rings. Both were fried well and were good. I do feel the hush puppies were better than the onion rings. I had to ask for ranch after I received my food as they came with nothing to dip them in. For my drink I chose tea which is southern sweet and comes in a large cup Hubby ordered the double burger which is misleading on the menu board and that was straight from the employee saying it. The patties on the double are much smaller than the patty on the single one For sides he done Cajun fries and cheese bites The cheese bites were really good and the fries were just ok and needed more seasoning For a drink he chose the peanut butter Oreo and that was by far the best milkshake we've ever had. I have to say for fast food, this place is doing it right. Grabbed a couple burgers and fries from here on a trip to the Smokies and all I can say is WOW. Best fast food burger I've ever had! While staying nearby, I stopped in for lunch at the Cook Out in Pigeon Forge. This place seems popular offering burgers, chicken sandwiches, BBQ pork sandwiches, chicken tenders, hot dogs, quesadillas, walking tacos, fries, onion rings, side items, Coke products, and 45 kinds of milkshakes. They offer tray meal deals at reasonable prices, which include the main sandwich with a choice of 2 sides (or double up) and a drink for under $10 before tax. Formerly a KFC, this Cook Out has two levels of dining areas and a drive thru. I ordered a Tray ($7.99 plus tax) with a Cajun Chicken Sandwich, onion rings, chicken quesadilla and upgraded to a small mocha milkshake (add $1.60). My food was all set and boxed in 5 minutes. I enjoy my lunch in the lower dining room. The cajun chicken sandwich had lettuce, tomato, mayo and a spicy chargrilled chicken breast on a soft bun. The sides were small including a few crunchy onion rings and a flat cheese & chicken quesadilla.
