We've eaten at Cookout about a handful of times. We were traveling on I-95 and saw they had a Cookout at exit #57. This place is a "drive through" service only with a "walk up window". No inside dining. They also don't have any place outside to sit for eating. So you would think the wording "Cookout" would have some type of seating outside like a cookout lol. This is the only location we found that doesn't have indoor dining. The website states they have a few of these types of restaurants. The other Cookout locations had great food and never disappointed. This location the hamburgers were just ok! The price was good so we don't complain. Cook Out has looked so intriguing, and I was finally able to try it. This place reminds me of Rally's if it were maybe redesigned as a carnival funhouse. First difficulty was the drive-thru, and there was one lane on each side of the building. No problem navigating, but strange. Maybe this is more efficient during peak hours. If you have never ordered from here before, you might want to try and decipher the menu by first going to their website. The menu looks like it was made on an old Geocities personal website, which translates very well into what you see at the speaker. In any event, combos work a little different here in that you get two sides and a choice of a drink if you select the main entree tray option. As I explain this, I am sure there is so much i am missing...But this was legitimately complicated. After navigating a Cheesecake Factory inspired menu and ordering, the food was prepared and handed over surprisingly fast. The burger was great, and it tasted like someone grilled it on a charcoal grill. The fries were fresh tasting, similar to Five Guys, but a smaller portion with a fraction of the salt. If you haven't tried it and are in the mood for a fast food burger, I recommend checking this out. Hopefully this chain finds an adult to fix the crazy menu and expands into more states. The food took forever to come out, I think we were waiting 35 minutes for a few trays. the drinks were good! the food itself was either burnt or underdone, no in between. my fries were underdone and soggy while my corn dog and chicken tenders were over done. We had never heard of Cook Out and had never been to one. That's enough Cook Out for this lifetime. The sole thing bumping this to 2 stars instead of 1 are the tater tots. They were great. I had no idea what I was ordering... but the girl taking my order just gave me the items I said I wanted (I suppose that's a win???) even though I don't know if I ordered properly. I asked and she said "that all?" So we'll call it possible. Second, the food. With the exception of the tater tots... this meal was a challenge to even eat and we were SOOOO hungry we were a slam dunk for a win. Third, the milkshakes. Three of the four of the people in the car really like milkshakes and all got our favorites flavors. All three milkshakes were thrown away between half and 3/4 full. My chocolate chip mint was the worst of the three. It was easily the worst milkshake I've ever had. We took zero chances on flavors. We all got flavors we love. Let's start with a few hiccups - the drive through was a hot mess. One car did not move for almost a 1/2 hour. While other cars just didn't realize there was a second option for a drive thru window. This was an issue on both the establishment & the guests not paying any mind to their surroundings. The one car that backed up the drive thru should have been asked to go & park curb side to avoid the pile up on to the main road. Thankfully I made it around the line of cars not paying any mind to the second drive-thru & waited about 5 minutes to place our order. We had a quesadilla, chargrilled chicken sandwich, cheese fries, cheese curds, milkshake, bottled water & a chicken wrap all for under $25. The price alone is what salvaged this review! Then the chicken sandwich & the cheese curds managed to get this to 3 stars - plus the milkshake!!! New spot in town it seems & let's be honest traveling by road for 13 hours & having a good option for a quick drive thru meal is quite impossible. So this spot resolved to get us fueled & back on the road. Yes we waited... a while... 45 minutes almost an hour but we took the chance for pee breaks. My husband d asked two questions and the girl (on 1/24 at 5:30 pm) just kept saying "everything is on the menu" and sighing loudly.
