    Sweet slaw and cheese bites.
    Troy H.

It was my first time eating at a Cook Out. It was a little overwhelming trying to figure out where to start, what sides to pick and if I wanted a shake, soda or just water. There was a line but the cashiers were quick and efficient with those who knew what they wanted. (There was one customer behind me that explained the best choices for the most food.) I went with the Double tray (double burger), slaw and cheese bites. The slaw although good had too much sugar. The cheese bites/curds, were small but good, another 10 Or so would have been great. The double burger...I asked for everything plus bacon. 0.95 cents for what looked like a 1/4 piece of bacon, up charge for cheese and tomato. The burger patties were so thin I would not even consider a double to be a single in a non-fast food restaurant. You could not even taste the meat between the bun and condiments. The biggest negative is using styrofoam for dining in. They could be so much more environmentally friendly by using a paper bag. Great choices but if you want a good burger I definitely recommend finding someplace that is not fast food.

Can't take an establishment nor it's management serious when they can't even take care of the Flag

There was no line when we pulled up and our food came out very quickly! I got a burger cheddar style and they did not hold back! The hush puppies were ok but the fries were yummy. I enjoyed the cook out sauce. Atmosphere was nice and well kept. Would come again!

Just went thru the drive thru @ 3:31pm was being blatantly, ignored at the window and then proceeded to shove food through window when it obviously was not gonna fit through window he was doing more damage to my car if anything only to come home and my order be wrong with no bacon or the side sauces that I asked for due to the person taking my order just completely not paying attention not only that, but I paid in cash and my change was given back short. Don't come eat here these people aren't in a good mood while working here and will purposely mess with u and ur food .

We love to get cookout on road trips - there isn't one too close to us so it's always a treat. I'm obsessed with their hushpuppies. I got the burger last time and it was a really solid burger. I like that you get to try a lot of things for a decent price. The milkshakes are a staple here. I always get the cheerwine because i don't find that commonly at other places. I love their barbecue and honey mustard sauces.

Really just another burger joint! Nothing that great. Shakes have no flavor. Won't be back.

Burger was disgusting to say the least, soggy, and tasted like liquid smoke, onion rings were poor quality, don't waste your money!

Draft list was fantastic for a small bar. My 7yo loved the options on the fountain machine. We only tried the brisket but it fell apart in our hands and had a delicious smoke flavor and was very moist. The pretzel and beer cheese was great. The hush puppies were huge. The cheese curds are what I get when I'm in Wisconsin. My Mrs isn't a fan of smoked meats, but I guarantee this will become a regular haunt for our family. Sadly we had other evening music plans so we missed the blue grass pickers.

The hush puppies are very good and we always enjoy them. My wife's pulled pork was not the best. The pork was kind of dry and stringy. She was not a fan of the fries, although someone else had the sweet potato fries and they were five out of five. My son had the brisket which he said was good, but he felt like it was a child's portion. I really enjoyed the ribs, even though I really wanted the bratwurst with the peppers but they were out of them. I had the pink coleslaw which I also enjoyed and if you're a vinegar fan, you will like it too. The potato salad was peppery, and I gave it a three out of five I like pickles in my potato salad. Overall, I'll still go back to this place. I think the food is decent and I like to set up and if I'm looking for ribs, this is where I'm going.

We wanted to fill up on gas before "going over the mountain". GPS led us to the New Star Market/Shell Gas Station, which was only about a mile off I-81 and directly on our route. The self-service gas area was a bit congested, but we squeezed behind a parked pickup to get to a pump. Gas prices were excellent at $2,75/gallon. I went to check out the small convenience store. They seemed to have pretty much everything that a traveler might want or need, including snacks, a deli, and more. Many other reviewers have mentioned BBQ, and an outdoor sign, advertised this as well. Somehow, my husband and I both missed this -- probably because it wasn't lunch time for us yet! We'll have to check it out again upon our return. The cashier was friendly and polite. Restrooms were outside and clean. .

For the amount we paid them I could have personally provided a lot more food and it would have been hot and yes the food he brought was cold. We were shorted rolls and coleslaw and they brought 2 small pans of meat. I paid $1500 and an extra travel fee. He left early and we had to store his equipment for 6 weeks. He had originally told me he would reimburse me for the coleslaw and roll shortages. There wasn't enough rolls for 100 people. He didn't even bring plates and silverware. I contacted him before the wedding to see if I needed to supply them and was told no he was supplying them. We had to run out while my daughter was having pictures done and purchase plates and plasticware. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! I waited to see what his response would be when we returned his equipment today and I quote.... He said I don't care! Well I guess they got their money so to hell with me. I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone.

And the greatest debate of them all; what sauce (if any) is the proper one. But there is one element all can agree on; aroma. If you pull up, close enough for the breeze to carry the smoke across your nostrils, you know if it's true barbecue. And on a cold night, having just spent 9 hours driving to Virginia, I had such an experience. A family member called as we got closer to arrival and mentioned Fizzle's. I don't remember his exact words, but they involved a trailer, fire pit, and good sides. It was like going on a blind date with a optimist; I was already in love and had yet to lay eyes on the place. Down this two lane road we traveled, the sun having already set, and I scanned the scenery in anticipation. In what could only be described as some form of bbq voodoo, it magically appeared around a corner. This beacon of light, contrasted against the starless sky, required no flashy signage or voluminous music. It was the sign, and the song, I was looking for. Our windows up, due to the ever dropping temperature, the aroma found its way to me. The savoriness of hickory, with notes of apple wood and cooking pork fat, was a siren and I the surrendering sailer. My appetite spoke for me that night, asking about the larger pork sandwich option, but thankful Reneta advised me that would be an entire pound (whereas the sandwich is still half a pound). I almost went for it, but I tell you wisdom must have intervened in that moment for I was dragging my fork across the finish line as I took the last bite of bean and mac n cheese. The sauce has just a touch of sweetness (likely a pinch of brown sugar), but not too overt. As a child I had a crush on Mrs. Frizzle. Corky, intelligent, encouraging, and she had a magic school bus. But now as a grown up, my new crush is Fizzle. The meat, the sides, the sauce, the seemingly secret locations they may pop up next. If you're in the area, order a plate for me. And I beg of you, tell me the moment they get desserts.
