She got so successful and loved running the shop so much that when she started school at Auburn this fall, she decided to major in business rather than biomed and keep selling cookies. All in all, a pretty cool origin story, haha. You can find Maddie's cookies (at least when she's home from school) in a small shop downtown. There's good signage outside so it's not hard to find. She's super social media-adept, so I'd recommend following her on Instagram so you can keep up the times when she'll be in town. You can preorder cookies that way so you can guarantee getting the flavor that you want. You can also order cookie boards, which look great for holidays, work parties, or even wedding or baby showers. I pressed my luck for Valentine's Day and stopped in to pick up some cookies. If a particular flavor is appealing to you, I'd HIGHLY recommend preordering. They were open for I think four hours the day I stopped by, and I came 1.5 hours in and there were only two packs of cookies left. Both were sugar cookies. I would have preferred a different flavor ideally, but I'll just have to preorder in the future. :) The packs are currently 3 cookies for $6. It's a little high of a price for me, but it's offset by the knowledge I'm helping a small business, and the fact that the cookies are tasty! Maddie herself was manning the cookie shop and she was perfectly sweet and very friendly. As for the cookies, they were really good! I had to delay eating them because I got overstuffed from other Valentine's festivities (lol), so they were maybe a little on the crusty side at the outer edges. Probably my fault. But they had a lovely vanilla flavor, had pretty purple and pink sprinkles/dust on them, and were nice and soft at the center. I believe she's starting to expand and you can find her cookies sometimes at other downtown establishments like Honest Coffee. I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled so I can try different flavors in the future!

The one at Four Mile Post had perfect macarons. I was expecting the same quality at this one. The two young ladies working were quick and friendly. They were the best cookies I've ever had- specifically the chocolate chip ones! They were very moist and flavorful. I shared all of the goodies with my team at work and they were impressed. It's obvious that Dr. Janis' treats are made with love. I had no idea that she also makes homecooked meals right next door! That is on my list of foods to try. I'll admit they make me nostalgic and I usually have fairly high expectations for them, since (though I'm biased) I feel like I worked at a pretty good one. The reviews for Zen Beri weren't that great but I honestly thought it was pretty good. This shop is located in a large, somewhat labyrinthine shopping center and the signage is nondescript, but there's plenty of parking and it's accessible. The inside is small but clean and cute. The staff member greeted me politely. I went to the back of the shop to check out the froyo flavors. They didn't have a super extensive selection (maybe about 10 flavors), but many sounded tasty. Eventually, the staff member offered me some sample cups, which were self serve. I'm clearly out of practice; two of my three samples came out great but one of them splattered all over my arm. It's veryyyy sticky lol. I tried the butter pecan, a coffee flavor, and one other that I don't recall the name of but remember liking...something vaguely nutty, but it's gone from my memory now lol. Anyway, the butter pecan was quite yummy; the coffee had a slightly odd taste that I didn't care for. 2/3 isn't bad. I have what I think is a pretty perfect froyo combo that typically tastes great and fulfills the build your own fantasy without overloading the toppings and making the flavor weird. I got some chocolate yogurt, paired it with a little of the butter pecan, and then topped it with crumbled Reese's and Oreos and a dusting of pecan pieces. Ideally, this creation is completed with a generous drizzle of hot fudge, but their hot fudge dispenser was either clogged or empty and my attempts were fruitless. Other than this mishap, the topping selection had lots of good choices kept clean and topped off nicely, though it wasn't a crazy extensive number of different options. I honestly find that preferable in terms of waste and decision making, but YMMV depending on what you like with your froyo. The price per ounce seemed reasonable and the employee remained friendly and pleasant through the checkout process. My creation tasted as I remembered (I've had better chocolate froyo but this one was good enough and the butter pecan was quite yummy) and I enjoyed it overall. This is a solid froyo shop and I'm glad to have stopped in. TL;DR: clean shop with polite employees; relatively small selection of flavors and toppings but what's available is fairly high quality and presented well. Worth a try!

I have been to The Chocolate Crocodile so many times...I can't believe I haven't reviewed it…read morebefore. Their truffles, apples, and other treats are absolutely awesome! I think It is a destination for chocolate covered strawberries, though. It is a clean store in Bridge Street, and they can move a line quickly. The only reason I can't give them five stars is because it is expensive. I really wanted to give them that fifth star, and they do offer a much appreciated veteran discount! Sometimes you really do get what you pay for, though! I wish they had coupons or a reward program.

We enjoyed the beautifully designed outer portion as well as the inside which was displayed at her party and reserved for our immediate family to enjoy! I have been sneaking tastes of the cakes, cupcakes, and cookies from this baker for well over a year now, because her husband would bring over goodies to work for celebratory occasions. Talk about a sweet friendship. Btw, I am sooo picky with desserts, but I LOVE desserts. I hope that makes sense because Jess, the baker of Damduk, made that "cut" in fulfilling my sweet tooth. Not too sweet, pretty in appearance & edible without all the fondant. My personal favorite is her carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I am not the type to go out of my way for carrot cake, but hers is moist & spiced up so right, you'd think it's fall season with every bite. & that cream cheese is so (insert Pacha meme from Emperor's New Groove). Red Velvet is another good flavor to go with the cream cheese icing. Trust, I am not an icing fan (i usually scoop icing off) but her Swiss cream is palatable. Messaging through IG is how we communicated and she is pretty straightforward. Pick up is in Aiea and delivery is extra & optional if you got a lot going on your plate. I have been looking for some sort of excuse to buy a cake from her & my birthday is so far away or I am always traveling for it. My fiancé took the initiative & custom ordered it for our engagement day & it was the cutest surprise! The cakes that I have gotten from this bakery has been so special & memorable for me. I really appreciate Jess and her hard work into making the cakes so perfect for me. It is so nice when you find a reason to celebrate & you know it's going to be a good time because you are assured that the product will come the way you want it, if not, better.
