I was the lucky person who ordered the Amsterdam, which, much to our surprise and delight, was served on a hook with melted cheese stretching down to the tray it was served on. Everyone had to take a photo of my sandwich! It contained a variety of cheeses, so while the taste was fairly classic, it was a bit more nuanced than the Classic sandwich, which only had cheddar cheese. Everyone else thought their sandwiches were delicious too. And we all loved the homemade tomato soup! I tend to be a bigger fan of creamy tomato soups, but this one was rich with umami flavor and had a bit of a kick. While this is a counter-service restaurant that's pretty much no-frills, the employees were friendly and helpful. One of them refilled our water cups at the table, even though the pitcher she had was leaking, and I didn't get the sense that they normally did that. Sadly, they don't sell soft serve ice cream any more, but there are so many ice cream shops in this part of St. Augustine that you can easily walk somewhere else for dessert (which we did). The place wasn't crowded on a Friday evening and had lots of menu choices, so if you like grilled cheese sandwiches, whether creative or simple, be sure to stop by the Grilled Cheese Gallery on your visit to St. Augustine!

This is my first ever yelp review so bear with me, but this is the first time I've ever thought that a place truly warranted a negative review. I made a polite comment on their instagram post a while back and they decided to delete and block me rather than be mature and accept the criticism, so here I am today being a little less polite. Cookie bird used to be my wife and I's favorite ice cream spot in town, we went once a week to check out their new flavors or just to get their great vanilla. As of the past few months though for some reason they have been going far too eccentric with the flavors so we have not been interested in going and when they do have a good flavor they run out if you don't get there within the first 24 hours of its release. People don't want mango guava vegan ice cream they want the cookie butter and cake batter, hence why the vegan fruit combos are always available and the good flavor is always gone. Now aside from the flavors their ice cream is good but the real problem is their staff. Honestly to be specific it is one of the two owners who is the real problem I have never gone in there and her not have an attitude with every customer who doesn't just immediately order. You can see her responses to these negative reviews, and as someone who worked in food and handled responding to negative reviews, I know we want to say whatever you want but as a grown adult and business owner you should really show some more decorum in some of these. My wife also set up a fundraiser a while back and we stayed around for the whole event after being told anyone we got to mention the event would become part of the donation so we walked around sending business your way only to find out you were only counting sales directly from people within our organization, this whole confusion was also due to that same owner. As this post is getting long I won't bring up anything else, but cookiebird yall used to be amazing I'm sad to see the direction you are taking your business.
