After looking at ratings on Yelp and then getting a few different quotes, I decided to go with Dan and his team to refinish our cabinets. We had just closed on a house and the house already had beautiful brand new cabinets with great details, but they were this terrible shade of yellow. I knew that I needed to change them up and with all of the detail put into the woodwork in the doors/drawer, I knew I had to hire professionals. Dan was able to meet me at the new house the day after I closed to look at the project and give me a more formal estimate. I decided on the spot to go with him and he was able to take my cabinet doors and drawers at that very time and bring them back to his shop. He started work on the project three days later (Monday) when I decided which Benjamin Moore paint color I wanted to go with. That Thursday, his team came out to do the rest of the painting on site and install the doors/drawers back into place. We acquired a new home, only 4yrs old, cabinets were in perfect condition but not at all to our taste. We had read about having them painted. We wanted our cabinets re-done but did not want laquer. Dan uses a special secret blend of paints that leave such a nice velvety finish on the cabinets. He and his man came and in a couple hours had all the doors off. They returned about a week later, painted the frames, installed the finished doors and spend a ton of time adjusting the hinges to make sure everything was aligned perfectly. Dan did a great job refinishing our kitchen cabinets. They weren't solid wood - we had them custom made with a thin layer of wood over plywood -- so we were afraid refinishing wouldn't work. But it did. Dan came over to look at the cabinets, showed us a sample, and gave us a quote. It was much cheaper than buying new cabinets (especially when replacing lower cabinets involves removing a granite countertop and possibly some plumbing changes). He gave some advice regarding paint colors (we chose Benjamin Moore Storm with a slightly glossier finish that Dan normally recommends), and explained how his process works. He just seemed so authentic. I later found out that someone else in my building had used Dan, so I went to look at his cabinets. They looked great. We had to wait a while to get the work done -- Dan's busy! -- but everything went smoothly on the job. Dan came out on a Monday morning with a helper to remove our doors and take them to his shop; that took about 45 minutes. He then came back Thursday with a helper, refinished the frame exteriors, and put the doors back on; that took about four hours. I liked than Dan himself was on the job at all times. The cabinets don't look painted at all; the finish is so smooth, you'd think they were manufactured this way. We were worried about the interiors not being painted (it's an option but costs more) but that doesn't bother us at all. And Dan's attention to detail as incredible: He even removed the little bumpers on our doors before painting them and put new ones on after. read more
