Took a pair custom axles to this guy and he charged me $200 to ruin them . Then he told me nothing he can do about it . 9/16 wheel studs are beyond his capacity . Now I have to buy a new pair of axles about 800 bucks. read more

Took my Ford 8.8 diff I had pulled out of an explorer to get the driver side of the axle housing shortened. Great people, cook was very helpful. I also got my axle shafts and rotors re-drilled to 4x114.3 to fit my Corolla. Here's a few pictures of my diff after I welded the brackets on. Great service! I've been using Cooks for over 20 years. Anytime I have a driveshaft issue, just need a new one, or need one modified, these are the guys to go to. I just picked up 2 shafts from them this morning for my Cummins swapped K30. They built everything from scratch with all the heavy duty Spicer solid u-joints capable of handling over 1000ft lbs. Went here to drop off a friend's drive shaft to be balanced, because he goes in at 5 a.m. This place is old school with all kinds of machines in here. Make sure and park in the back to drop off your part to be fixed. My friend picked it up the next day, but at least it saved him waiting over the weekend. read more

Overpriced and untrustworthy. They added something to my rear end that I truly believe was not needed and charged me a ridiculous price for it. They also were going to send a part to another shop, have them do all the work, then up-charge me, instead of just telling me initially that they don't do that type of work and referring me to the shop they were going to send it to. If you have to go here make sure you get a price before you have them do anything, but personally I regret ever walking into their shop and I'll never refer them to any of my friends. read more

Jim and Paul the greatest craftsmanship money can buy. I came in early one morning, the driveshaft in my 1966 Chevy Van was barely hanging on after a 3 inch lift. I dropped in unanounced on an saturday morning and they got right to it. I took off the drive shaft in a little over a couple of hours they had me back on the road. I found Cook's when I realized that Atlas Spring had hours that were COMPLETELY incompatible with my schedule. I'd already asked a couple of buddies to come over to help me work on my car and had planned on getting the bushings in my new leaf springs pressed on friday or saturday morning the day before. Plans fell through, Atlas is closed on the weekends for some reason, and I was scrambling to find a shop that had a press and could do it before I went to work. I called up Cook's, and they said they could do it, no problem, I just had to bring it by ASAP because they closed early. Perfect. I wound up meeting a couple of the coolest guys when I pulled around back and knocked on the door. I've met a lot of folks in this business during the very short time I've been learning to work on cars (specifically my Cherokee XJ), and I can say that Jim and Paul are the real deal. Kind, professional, and willing to pull out all the stops for their customers - in my case, it was the decision to press my bushings for free, when they originally told me that they were going to have to charge me their hourly labor fee. They've been in business for 40 years, and I hope that they pass on that kind of family-owned business ethic to the nephew that they plan on handing the shop over to in the years to come. Last year I took my Mopar 8 3/4 B-body axle housing over to them to have the spring perches moved in order to put it into an A-Body (Duster). They cut off the old perches and welded on new ones and also checked the housing for straightness. Welds look good and solid. Plan to be putting in the axle soon, just need to get the bearings pressed onto the axle shafts. Need to call them on a quote for that. read more

I have gone to Cooks for years and they have always done the best job the first time, every time! I have taken my Toyota 4Runner and Chevy Tahoe in for driveline and rearend work expecting a major repair and finding out it was an easy and inexpensive fix. In fact a friend called me up while at a Toyota dealership who was going to charge $1300 for a new driveline. I told him to leave Toyota and go see Jim and Paul at Cooks!
