(This review and star rating is based on a one time experience) My boyfriend and I frequent this bar on fry with our friends and sometimes just to grab a beer with a nice view. Last Saturday night we went in and ordered a beer pitcher to share a heavier set brunette lady helped us at the bar inside. Everything was fine she was nice and we went outside to enjoy our Saturday night and our beers. My boyfriend went back inside to get another pitcher while I held our table down because it was a Saturday night and tables go FAST. She wouldn't serve my boyfriend the pitcher because there needed to be 2 bodies present (completely understandable) so I ask the girl next to me to please watch our part of the table while I went inside. I went inside and the bar tender was laughing it up with people next to my boyfriend and pouring them a beer. After she gets done she turns and scours at us and says "what kind." We reply with "lonesstar please". Me thinking now "ok she has seen me she knows there are 2 bodies I'm gonna go sit back down now so we don't lose our spot" a sit down and my boyfriend calls me again asking if I have the empty pitcher of beer from our last pitcher. I obviously tell him no as someone walks around and grabs it almost immediately and then he says well it doesn't matter because this bar tender won't serve me because you left. I get up to go show my face again (kind of ridiculous but I was gonna do it) and he says she told him she doesn't have any clean pitchers. My boyfriend comes and sits down in complete awe of how he was just treated. He proceeds to tell me that she yelled at him about me walking away and was the most rude he has ever been talked to for absolutely no reason. He said he almost felt like she thought he was some one else he he never been treated so rudely as a paying customer in from of all the other customers. He said he tried to explain to her that I sat down simply to hold our spots and she said (exactly this) "look. I get it. But here's the thing.. I don't care. And you know what? I don't even have any clean pitchers for your beer. You need to go to the outside bar.". Then proceeded to turn to her friends next to my boyfriend and give them a beer "on her tonight". And you know what tops it all off, we went to the outside bar and my boyfriend ordered the beer, called me to show my face, and the bar tender smiled and said "ok cool you can go sit back down now" WAS THAT SO HARD. This lady deserves 0 stars, probably to be fired, an attitude check, and makes my overall feelings of cool beans go to shit. Losing paying customers, will happily walk my happy ass over to lous or rip rocks next time.. read more

Before I go to class I come here to get drinks. The long islands are so good here. I had the chicken tacos with curly fries. They give you two tacos but they are huge. I came here at 11:07am and there were hardly any customers here ( better service for me). To order food you have to go to the bar then tell them where you will sit. They also do to go orders. read more

This place used to have awesome burgers, but they changed and now the patties are much thinner. They do have waffle fries now though, which i guess is good... Its ok, i like getting fries or chips and dip here. read more

The bartender who happened to be a white female was racist towards me (a Latin female). This was demonstrated as she chose to serve the two (white individuals) next to me and not I, when I had arrived first. This was so evident that even the people around me tried to stick up for me by telling this bartender that this fact was true. The bartender then tried to justify her unacceptable behavior by opting out by stating that I was "rude to her" when in fact I was never. She then chose to kick me out of the bar and even threatened me by saying she would call the police if I didn't leave immediately. She then continued as she stated "you and your PEOPLE need to leave now". I then proceeded in a calmly manner by asking for her manager to clear up this situation. She then claimed that she was in fact the "manager". It's hard to believe that this business is run in a very poor manner in their leadership position. Horrible experience. It is my only hope that she reconsiders her behavior by beginning to learn the simple concept that we as humans are all equal, no matter the race. It's 2019 and this shouldn't be an issue and it's pathetic that it still is. I feel incredible bad for her and her backwards state of mind. SHAME ON HER! read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Entitled blonde bartending "manager" kicked a girl and her group out for asking if the $8 pitchers were still continuing after 11pm. Bartender told the girl she was being rude from the beginning even though she was just standing there waiting her turn. Which by the way, the bartender served two other guys who got there AFTER the girl who was waiting for a while, she happened to be Hispanic... and they were white. It looked like a racial situation. Terrible service. I experienced racism first hand here to the customers around me. And it's 2019! The staff definitely brings their personal problems into the workplace because there is no other explanation to the unacceptable behavior I witnessed here tonight. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. It was only given 1 star only because 0 isn't an option. On the other hand, this would have been a great bar if it was 1775 when racism was acceptable. Super affordable drinks, some of the best bar food in town, cozy dog friendly patio. Burger patties are hand rolled to order and never frozen, chicken breasts are brined for 24 hours. A college bar with cheap drinks. Don't come in with high expectations of anything bougie. Come in to have fun with your friends on a weekend or after an exam. Do not waste your time at this bar. To start, the service was sub par and the staff is untrained and rude. We ordered a pitcher and paid the full amount, found a seat and sat down. Another bar tender came out to the table and requested that the pitcher be returned to the bar because she could not find the receipt. After I asked the to speak to the manager the bartender by the name of CASEY left table and said "fuck off". I walked into the bar and talked to CASEY and just wanted to confirm that the situation had been resolved. She neglected to pay me any attention. I spoke with one of the bartenders and found out her name, which led me straight to yelp. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS BAR, THE STAFF WILL TREAT YOU POORLY. read more

The bartenders here were not very polite. My friend asked for a Bloody Mary -- and the bartender scoffed before making it, like it was a hard drink she did not want to make. My friends were kicked out for no reason!! We did not agree because it was because one of our party drank the rest of their beer quickly to leave! The establishment said he chugged the beer which was the one & only beer drank at the establishment. I do not understand why they said we needed to leave. We weren't loud or obnoxious! So as cool as this place is and as good as their curly fries are this place isn't worth the time. Their bar tenders suck, their drinks suck, and the people who work there are super rude and idiotic. Let me provide an example: they have patio seating but they don't post someone at the entrance gate to check ID's. So if you make the mistake of coming in through the entrance gate on the patio they will kick you out of the bar as though you should have known better. You have to enter through the building because that's the only place they choose to check ID's and if you enter through any of the other several entrances they will kick you out. read more

Both employees glanced over and continued to stock the bar then one of em leaned against the bar put a cigarette in his mouth looked at us again lit it and looked away! WTF? As someone who has been in the food service industry for several years, I like to visit bars and restaurants several times before leaving any sort of review: I believe that one bad server or one bad experience isn't always representative of an establishment's quality, and I like to give a place several chances before making any judgements. That said, I have been to Cool Beans about 5 or 6 times over the last month, on different days of the week and different times of day. My boyfriend and I have tried out the pitchers, sampled the food, and ordered shots on different occasions: the shots have always been great, the food delicious, and the pitchers a great deal for the money. We've played pool, foosball, and darts together while enjoying the great music that always seems to be playing. However, we will probably not be returning to Cool Beans. What has killed it for us is that there have only been two or three employees (that we have personally encountered) that have given us decent service. With very rare exceptions, we have both been treated poorly by the staff here: we've been audibly scoffed at and had eyes rolled at us for asking questions about the menu, and one staff member in particular has repeatedly slammed food and drinks down on our table without looking at us or saying a word -- this has been pretty puzzling to the both of us since we routinely tip at least 40%, always make an effort to be kind and polite to staff, clean up after ourselves, and don't make any sort of ruckus or fuss. I'll dearly miss the pitchers and mac-and-cheese burger, but there are plenty of other bars in the area that offer better customer service where I'd rather spend my money. read more

A staple Fry street bar. Good food for lunch or a bite before a crazy night (they have $3.50 burger special days). The bartenders are usually pretty nice but it depends on who's there of course. The drinks are average but they do have specials that are worth acting on (6 dollar pitchers of mix drink, super sugary but does the trick ). Definitely my favorite bar in the Fry street area. Cool Beans is a totally decent bar with really good bar food. They often book shows for the upstairs patio (which is worth checking out when the weather's really good). They have at least two foosball tables now and a couple of pinball and arcade games in the back. My favorite time to come here is in the afternoon where there's a limited crowd and I can eat and drink in relative peace by myself or in a conversation with friends. read more

Really the only bar I go to on Fry St. Love their $7 pitchers, such an awesome deal. The food is good. It's a very nice atmosphere, I love sitting on the patio, especially upstairs when that's available. The staff is USUALLY pretty great, there have been a few times when some staff were just really rude or my drink was not that great/ didn't get cherries in them ( I usually get a cherry limeade pitcher). read more

THIS FOOD IS GREAT! the french fries have a spice that says, "please order six more plates of fries" and the hot dogs make me want to scream, "Hey, this hot dog is so delicious for eating at a bar!" I found this place on Yelp. Taking a shot as it was our first time there. My wife and I shared the mini burgers and fries. Wow they were tasted. Sat on the patio and enjoyed the people watching. You order when you walk in and seat your self. They give you a number and have a seat. Food was good. Service was good as we waited on our selves. It's a college hang out so enjoy being near young people. We had Diet Coke and it was carbonated. To me that's important. read more

Great venue for live local bands. Drinks aren't badly priced and it is close to the college to get a good atmosphere.

Super chill dive bar, I love it. Bean's definitely has some of the best bar food in Denton, not to mention some of the best food and drink specials in town. Kinda small inside, but neat decorations and vibe. Pool table, foosball table, darts, but not much else. I've always had a great experience with the bartenders there, always super chill. There's a really cool patio with a bunch of picnic tables and an outside bar that they open when it gets busy. There's also a roof to chill on and where bands play occasionally. Unfortunately in the winter they don't really have any heated outdoor tents or anything. Great specials for food and drinks on every day of the week. Check out their website, they have all the specials and times clearly listed. They have $6 pitchers during happy hour 2-7pm every day, and $2 double wells from 9-11pm every night!
