Come here for coffee and dessert. That's really their strong suit. The handful of times I've come here for lunch or dinner, I've never been really amazed by the food. Their cheesecakes are awesome and they have really good frapuccino style drinks that are way better than Starbucks. They have live music and psychics during dinner sometimes so it's pretty cool. One of the last few spots in Toms River that isn't completely commercialized so it's a nice departure. Been to cool beans several times over the years. They have a very large menu. Pricing is a little high for what you get but the food is fresh. Service is not very good. The servers are very nice but need a training in how to be efficient wait staff. Not a fan of the coffee. The specialty coffees are extremely sweet and on 2 occasions they were not hot enough. Atmosphere is fine but def. Not a coffeehouse vibe...more of a restaurant feel which is fine but if you are looking for a coffee house I would choose another place. read more

A coffee bar in front and a cafe in back. A friend and I ate at the cafe. The food was delicious, but pricey for a cafe. The waitress was super nice. She visited our table often to make sure we had everything we needed or wanted. My friend says their tea is delicious. My iced vanilla latte was very good. Matt was outstanding as a service, kind general spoken and quick. His service just enhances the food itself. The chili was the the best we've had in the area. I like spicy but hubby doesn't and it was the perfect balance that allowed us to share. My daughter had the French onion soup and the flavor, bread and melts cheese was done perfectly. I have been coming to Cool Beans for at least 10 years. I find the menu to be very diverse, inexpensive and trendy. I love the wait staff and recomend this place for anyone looking for a wrap, salad, grilled sandwich or great coffee selection. I always order the grilled buffalo chicken wrap, with the pasta side dish(lots of pepper, yum) and a side of fries. The fries have usually been a dollar when added to my meal. read more

Coffee is really good but the location makes me so sad. I'd prefer sitting at the coffee bar than the tables. Cool beans use to be at a location with comfortable seating and your coffee place vibe. Maybe the coffee is good, but food was standard box restaurant stuff. We were pretty disappointed as we have not been here in years . Our server was real nice and pleasant but that was a bout it and the only reason I'm giving 2 stars . I usually give bad reviews after getting skunked twice somewhere as I understand places can have a bad day. Making an exception because seeing the reviews and the food was pretty lousy , can't believe half of these are real. My wife's salad had a huge piece of core in it . Come on really? Sons burger was burned on the outside and raw in the middle . Bruschetta chicken had none on it, near it , or maybe it was soaked in it , but we could not find any. We both ordered a simple wrap and it took FOREVER to come out. Love to grab a quick bite to eat her when I get the chance. I highly recommend the honey dipped chicken salad. The menu is a fairly average menu. I don't love all the choices, but that salad, is. The. Best. The portion is big, and the chickencthey use is cooked perfectly, the crisp is super light so it goes well with the honey drizzle on it. Honey mustard comes on the side, but I find the honey is almost enough so I just dip my salad as I need it. Not the best place to eat. It's sloppy slimy and the tables are always sticky. The staff seems like they could care less and the portions are semi-expensive and small. I must say the pasta salad is awesome but for everything else it's either cold, over cooked or soggy. It's a decent place for high school kids to hang out, if you are over 19 or so you probably wouldn't like it much there. Sometimes they have (horrible local) bands play just make sure to keep out those days since most of the kids are little jerks. I guess stopping in for coffee won't be too bad, but I never tried it just for coffee. read more

I think an authentic cafe wouldn't succeed in TR (does anyone remember the Java Joint? That place was great) because the town doesn't really have an atmosphere of going to a cafe to read or write or study. My guess is that Cool Beans tries to succeed with a food menu to make money (and something has to be working since it's been around for a bit now). I've only ordered drinks at Cool Beans itself and all the coffee drinks I ordered were good. I've ordered take out appetizers like fries and they were good, too, but I can't attest for the rest. Service-wise the last time I went, I had great service. I don't think this is the best cafe in the world but it's not terrible. A cafe that was just based on coffee drinks and small bites isn't economically feasible here so at least Cool Beans is making an attempt with a bigger menu and some live music. I consider it better than the diner but not as good as a place like Applebee's. read more

Business doesn't operate on their posted hours. I just saw it says 9:00pm for a Saturday on here but everywhere else, including their door says 11:00pm. I walked in a little after 10:00 to grab a coffee or latte(which I rushed there to get, only trying to be considerate of them)on a Saturday night and the guy working told me they were closed, even though the door was still perched open. All the coffee was dumped and he was cleaning. He started making all types of excuses, one of them being they're a small business and their hours are based on the business they're getting. He offered me a free soft drink. That annoyed me. A pathetic excuse for an amends. I didn't rush from 15 minutes away for a soda, so I passed. Too bad. Cool Beans is a hip, fun coffee joint. I've been there about 5 times now. They have a fantastic selection of beverages, especially for coffee and tea lovers. They also have pretty good food. Not so cool beans, This place sucks. Avoid at all costs and go to a Starbucks instead before the movie. I sat at the counter in front of some Decent looking brownies and ordered a brownie sundae. The lady that was handling the cashier and the menus grabs a brownie with her bare hands out of the freezer, gets a huge chef knife, then puts all of her weight into cutting the brownie in half. She then puts it in the microwave for 20 seconds, proceeds to the cash box to process someone bill, counts Money and then returns to the microwave to start poking at my brownie with her dirty hands to see if they were defrosted. She puts it back in and another employee starts poking it as well then she gets a coffee mug, fills it with soft serve and dumps it on the plate in between both brownies. It was very un appetizing and I was embarrassed for them to have the guts to serve this. If I could give a zero stars I would. read more

This was one of the most bizarre experiences as the staff obnoxiously shouted, ran and did a number of things usually done by children on a play ground. Been going to Cool Beans for quite sometime on a fairly regular basis. I have my particular repertoire including the buffalo chicken wrap, and I just tried the Veggie Quesadilla, which was outstanding and certainly was a good size portion. I also can't say enough about the staff, they've always been very upbeat, efficient and pleasant.
