Why is this place rated so highly? The drinks were ok. Their coffee and espresso aren't great, but it isn't bad either. They have a large menu and a lot of baked goods. Service is definitely slow. It was a long wait just to get a plain latte despite no one being ahead of me. The physical place is disgusting. There are coffee splatters on the walls, dust and dirt piled up in every corner, and every table and area was sticky. I felt like I needed to go home and take a shower after sitting there for a few hours with some friends. They need to take some pride in the place and clean it. It's not the kind of place that you absolutely need to avoid, but I would drive to a surrounding small town's coffee shop before I would ever go back to Cool Beanz. read more

Today was our first time visiting Cool Beanz in Dundee. I grew up in the area but have since moved away and came back to visit. This was a neat place and I would for sure go back. The Cinnamon Maple cold brew was delicious! The shop has a neat contraption for making cold brew. All of the baristas were really nice and helpful. The shop was decorated in a neat manner and had cute decorations. This place is a welcome addition to the Dundee area! read more

OMG I live this place!!! Just happened upon it while passing through- I'd get off the freeway to come here again. There just aren't many coffee places like this anywhere The menu is eclectic in some cases, (pineapple Latte), and cozy/homey in others, (lemon loaf- get this! See pic!) and then just the vast amount of antiques and collectibles- I could've walked around that place for an hour! Just all fascinating stuff I remember from my grandmothers house. It's such a cute location right downtown Dundee. Parking limited. I had the maple syrup & cinnamon iced coffee with almond milk. I can't eat any of the pastries since I'm gluten and dairy free. The state itself is has lots of fresh jams and a cute antique store. A nice sitting area. I really liked the coffee overall. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I stood in line for about 15 minutes waiting to place my order, as there was only one person in line ahead of me and the woman who was waiting for her order only had 3 times. There were also two workers behind the counter so things could have been faster. I ordered the "falls coming" latte and it was absolutely disgusting, possibly the worst coffee I've ever had. It was almost like someone combined milk and tons of sweetener. It was located in a cute building but it was also dirty and needed to be wiped down. I had one sip of coffee and unfortunately threw the rest away. The girl behind the counter was also pretty rude and was on her phone while I was telling her my order! read more

Hey! cool beans. We ordered four sandwiches, they said they would be ready in about 10 minutes, and the food was ready when we arrived. Delicious lemon poppyseed scone. I ordered the apple bomb with apple butter. Bagel was soft and favors melded well. Very tasty baked goods and sandwiches. There were people playing chess, and a young girl knitting a snowman. A great vibe to hang out or wander the gallery or come and grab a light lunch or breakfast. I did not get coffee or any drink so I can't speak to that in the review. read more

Quit here after 2 shifts. I'll stick to just the food safety violations and leave out the rest. This sounds like I'm exaggerating, but I promise I'm not. - The entire place is filthy. Syrup was gunked up on the entire inside bottom seal of their fridge. Mold was growing on the bottom of the espresso grounds waste compartment. The milk wand isn't purged every time and employees leave dried milk on the wand, which is basically Coffee Shop 101. Fruit flies flew out of their blender and smelled rancid when I went to clean it. - There were no paper towels to dry hands and employees re-used fabric towels (again, a health code violations) - Saw an employee use glass cleaner to clean off food contact surfaces - They use old bubble tea containers for steeping tea, potentially leaching plastic since it's not rated for hot liquid - I was told to use espresso that had been sitting out for couple minutes for a drink order, and that 10 minute old espresso could be used for cold drinks There's way more, but you get the idea. I just moved to Dundee this week and was thrilled to find such an inviting coffee shop in the town square. Not only does the shop have a great selection of pastries, sandwiches, and beverages, but it has comfy leather sofas in the front, a fabulously decorated interior complete with fresh flowers on the tables, and bonus points! an art gallery full of local pottery, woodwork, and paintings. And the barista I met on my first day was a sweetheart. Cons: It's a tad expensive, but take it with a grain of salt that I recently graduated from college. Wish: They had loose leaf tea instead of bagged, but I'm a tea connoisseur and have sometimes over-the-top expectations when it comes to that. They do have looseleaf available for purchase along with tea pots and mugs. And a friend of mine said their coffee was good. ***Review update: Since posting this review a year ago, Cool Beanz now offers loose leaf tea, including their own homemade chai. All-in-all, this place is a gem! I'm so grateful to have found this spot so close to home. It's quiet enough to get hours of work done. Good food, chic decor, and relaxing atmosphere. read more

UPDATE: They lost a star because twice I've been innthere to get chat tea. Both times they were out. Recently, the mad working said they had been out for a week because they don't have the ingredients and no one ordered them. That's a terrible way to run a business. Here's the kicker- one of the specials this month was chat tea. I'm really disappointed that the owner/manager doesn't run this place better. With better management and better service, it would be good. read more

I was in town and my brother told me that this place just opened. I decided to roll the dice and try to work there for half the day vs. driving to my office in Toledo. Nice alternative to the chains. Wish is was a little quieter (hey, I was working!)...they were friendly though and have a loyalty rewards card. Huge bonus - they offer almond milk. So this place automatically wins based on that. Stopped here during a road trip based on the great reviews on yelp, unfortunately it was a huge disappointment if you care about the flavor of your coffee. The staff was very friendly and the decor was eclectic and fun. We ordered cappuccino, mocha and raspberry mocha and they are all too sour for our taste. The sourness worked OK with the raspberry flavor but we couldn't finish our cappuccino or mocha. We moved on to the Milan Coffee Works a couple exits down the road and their coffee was much smoother and richer. read more

This is not a fast food restaurant so you have to wait a few minutes, but it is connected to an art gallery so you can browse while you wait. They also have very good coffee as well. read more

Excellent coffee shop! They have a small area with baked goods which have been excellent every time! My son and I absolutely love the bubble teas! You can pick your own flavor from peach blueberry strawberry and different flavored bubbles which are almost like Gelatin filled with flavored juice! They are the most fun drinks ever!
