This is a lovely spot in downtown Saline that brings the community together over food, coffee, mock tails, good vibes, and fun events. There's live music, knitting/crocheting, and family game nights, plenty of tables with an outlet next to each one at table height for working, and an all-gender bathroom with a changing table and free menstrual products. Your needs are getting met, people!!! The people behind the counter are friendly, they've got options for vegans, GF, nut allergies, you name it, and breakfast and lunch sandwiches or bagels. Loads of coffee or drink options, too. Although the very spacious indoor area has tables and benches to choose from, there are also tables out front if you prefer fresh air and people watching. Go for the Breakfast sandwich instead of the breakfast burrito. It's not only their best seller, but also is more enjoyable IMHO. ENVIRONMENT This was my first visit. We went at 6am when they opened and I met with an old grade school friend for 4 hours. The cafe environment was a superb hangout, with brick walls, open areas and cozy tables. The staff was super friendly, and they felt like old friends even though we just met. COFFEE The coffee was good. I am a coffee snob, and didn't find the coffee to be of the highest standards but was better than standard coffee shops. My first cup was black, which is how I normally drink it. They offer dark, medium and light roasts which was nice. I opted for the light roast as that is my preference (accentuates the bean flavor more). I tried some drink called a "Debbie" which was like a Carmel Macchiato type drink. The whipped cream on top is the real deal...super creamy! FOOD I like their breakfast sandwich better than the burrito. Super customizable as you pick your bread, your meat, and your cheese. Keep in mind they make their own sausage, so that was my option. The staff recommended cream cheese with egg and sausage. It tasted great but squirts out and is slightly messy. That's what napkins are for. The burrito was more like they took a sandwich and used a tortilla instead of a bread. The sausage was in an uncut patty form and the eggs were scrambled but solid piece. The was a delicious creamy sauce that brought a good spice to the burrito. Overall, nice upscale cafe in Saline! read more

This is a small very quint Cafe with its own charm. A nice place to read a book or FB on a computer. Their drink prices seem to be what is expected for a Cafe. There are both breakfast and lunch offerings along with desserts. Dont expect an extensive menu. The reason I give it a 4 is the price we paid. Two sandwiches($10 ea.) and a scone($3) cost us $24+ The sandwiches were on regular, store bought white bread with an average serving of meat. I do realize prices are up all over but this is absurd. I'll go back for coffee although I'll make sure to have lunch at home. read more

Second visit. Popped in just before close to get a cup of coffee. I chose the drip organic dark roast and it was delicious. I didn't expect it taste like they just brewed it, but that's exactly how it tasted! I also chose a blueberry scone--best I've tasted in a long time. I enjoy the atmosphere of this place - it's got the cool brick walls, the decor is welcoming, and patrons are relaxed. The smell of bacon at lunchtime is also totally great. The coffee is good and they have some cinnamon available, which I enjoy. The issue I have found here is that the service is really not that friendly. I guess that when you're in a small town, you expect friendlier service... and that just hasn't happened. Seriously, I've had friendlier service in NYC. In particular, when there's this one guy in there, he never even smiles at me. I don't see him smile at anyone else either - so it's not just just me. Overall, I really like this place. The coffee and atmosphere are great. Parking is on the street and there are a couple lots nearby. Price is as expected. Just wish that I could feel more welcomed here... that would improve this place immensely. read more

My Fridays are full of smiles, laughter and some coffee from a far off place that I can call home and it's all because of the ladies (and gentleman) of Carrigan Cafe. How did I stumble across this place? Why are my Fridays such well spent days? I've got to go down 23 from time to time and I wanted something different. Much of Ann Arbor's delights are downtown or on the west side, but on Fridays I find myself having to go in a different direction. I had some specifics when I went searching for a place to spend my mornings. I needed a place that was Gluten-Free (GF) friendly, I needed a place that was close to my final destination, I needed wifi and coffee, yea, coffee wouldn't hurt. My trusty YELP found this place. They've got GF food items that are as delicious as the "real thing" and all kinds of different milk variations for their many drink offerings, and bread varieties, so that whatever your drink or sandwich needs to be, it can, because they've got it all. I've never had a bad sandwich, and I can honestly say I've had them all, with GF bread, of course and just as a treat to myself, I usually get a GF muffin, GF brownie, or another GF tasty treat for the road. Each of their sandwiches can be accompanied with a pickle, mandarin orange slices, a fruit cup, chips, etc and they've some great sandwiches. My fave, of course, because of my affinity for chipotle mayo, is the Baja Club, a delicious combination of Turkey, Bacon, Lettuce, Pepper Jack, Tomato, and chipotle mayo. Because the ladies (and one gentlemen) are lovely they always remember my needs, they toast the GF bread. Pro tip: GF bread holds better when toasted. Always kind and happy to see customers, they really are what make my Friday mornings awesome. Don't take my word for it though. Have a visit, and discover it for yourself! read more

Order 4 hot drinks, sandwich, & 2 desserts. Drinks were slightly hotter than room temperature and were cold by the time I drove them 1.3 miles down the road. Sandwich was soggy, and Cookie was hard as a rock. Not worth the $$. read more

Unbelievably horrible customer service! As I was receiving my food I said, "thank you" to the girl behind the counter... without saying anything she turned around and walked away. Thinking she didn't hear me, I KINDLY repeated myself thank you. She turned back around looked at me and told me that she didn't need the attitude! I was completely shocked! I laughed in disbelief asking, "did you seriously just say that to a customer???" She said, "you didn't hear me speak..and I don't need your attitude!" Completely stunned I just walked out. What disappointing behavior from this girl. I don't live locally, however, anytime I come into town to visit friends I always make it a point to stop here. Unfortunately, I will no longer...I can't in good faith support establishments that allow such awful customer service. read more

An amazingly cute, surprisingly large cafe in downtown Saline. They have a large display of food and pre-made items you can grab if you have to run, but also have home-cooked sandwiches and omelets. Their coffee is good, and the store has a lot of natural light and tables to sit down at while you eat. The whole building has polished wood floors, and brick walls. It's pretty cheerful- they have photo prints and jewelry made by local residents that they decorate the walls with and that they have for sale. There's lots of parking nearby too! read more

I wish I could give this place a better review. We moved to Saline a few weeks ago and I had wanted to check out this spot ever since I saw it. The other day we stopped in to get some hot drinks and a morsel to go. I got a chai tea latte and a snicker doodle muffin. My husband got a snow bunny latte and a blueberry muffin. My latte tasted just like warm milk, no spice at all, and the muffin tasted like lemony burnt cinnamon. I threw out most of the drink and muffin. My husband was not at all impressed with the drink and he said his muffin tasted like dish soap. The menu is confusing, how is one supposed to know what is in each cutesy named drink without having to ask the barista about each one? This place has potential but I can't say I will give them another try when there are so many other great places to go for coffee. read more

Stopped in yesterday for lunch and to do a little work. Cute little downtown area and the cafe has a lot of character. A lot of the staff knew the locals by name. I ordered a tuna sandwich and maybe I should have ordered something else. It reminded me of the sandwiches in the plastic containers you get from the grocery or the gas station. Before I even received my lunch they completely forgot about it so I had to go up and ask. When I left I was hoping to fill up my drink but they were small talking with the three people in front of me so I knew I would not have enough time. So I left. I would come back again if I was in the area and try something different. I just got iced tea but they have a great selection of specialty drinks I would try. My husband had a black coffee of the day that he loved and we shared an amazing bagel breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, and sausage. The girls working were very nice and friendly. I would not recommend this cafe to anyone. It took 15-20 minutes to get my drink and the girls working behind the counter were bickering with each other the entire time. One of the girls gave me my drink and asked me to try it to see if I like it. I asked her if it was too hot to try and she said no, not at all; needless to say, I burned my mouth so bad and literally spit the coffee right out, it was so hot!!! Hours later my mouth is still burnt and in so much pain. Terrible service and terrible experience. I will never come back here. read more
