Things are tight in this economy and we needed a solid vehicle at a good price. There were so many cars for sale from so many dealers that it was hard to tell one place from another. We bought a car from Cool Motors and it changed our belief of what shopping at a used car dealership would be like. For us the measure of our experience was based on honesty and honorable action. Not everything can be perfect with a used vehicle and not every problem can be evident with a short test drive. Dylan and Eric were great in purchasing the car. The process was easy and transparent. Soon we were happily driving down the road in our new used car. A few short miles down the road and the unthinkable happened. There was a problem and it needed to be repaired. Rather than being told that the car was "as is" and have a nice day, Dylan said bring it in and we'll take care of it. Ultimately an entire new catalytic converter had to be installed. Cool Motors took care of us like we were family. They didn't buy the cheapest part on the market. They put in a solid direct fit replacement. Dylan told me it's what he would have put in his own car. The entire experience was beyond expectation. They took care of us and stood by what they sold us and they did not take the cheapest option to make the car right. I purchased a car from this company a couple months ago drove it a little here and there it was just a third vehicle we bought for myself and wife to go to the grocery store and back...we'll let me tell you the car lasted less than 2 months and the head gasket blew the car had no maintenance done that was just the icing on the cake there was several other things that needed replacement almost everything was faulty the car looked clean but was far from it now I got a brick in the driveway and owner claims that i should have watched my gauges that it probably overheated and it's my fault also said he can't do anything for me sorry blah blah blah and yup that's it the good old used car dealership hustle they got me so I would stay far away from this place just a fair warning people. read more

My husband and I were shopping for a very particular car, and I saw (on cargurus.com) that Cool Motors had one for sale. I was extremely hesitant to buy a used car from a used car dealer, especially one that was out of state. (I've had two bad experiences with used car dealers in Northern CA.) Well, Cool Motors has restored my belief that some used car lots are legit and honest. Here's a breakdown of the pros/cons of Cool Motors: Pros: - Answers phones and emails promptly and courteously; I was even able to text with the owner! - Very helpful in accommodating my requests for pre-purchase inspection! Since I am in NorCal and would be buying the car sight unseen and without a test drive, I knew I wanted a pre-purchase inspection at a mechanic of my choosing. I selected a mechanic in their area, and Cool Motors was gracious enough to have someone drive to the mechanic and then pick up the vehicle THE SAME DAY. How is that for service!?! - They answered EVERY tedious, nit-picky question I had about the car and its online pictures. And, they were very kind and detailed with every answer. - Emailed me Carfax asap. - I got spooked about having to transport a vehicle from AZ to NorCal. When I told them this, they went out of their way to help me find a reputable (licensed and insured) transport company at a very, very good price. This is not a normal service of theirs, so I really appreciate they're taking the time to help me with this. - They were very respectful, honest, and transparent with me when we were negotiating the price and our respective rationales/opinions. - My car was delivered to my doorstep in great condition by a courteous driver. - They emailed my temporary license plate on the day I received my car. - They also knew about interstate title stuff, and they went ahead and had the title re-printed/re-issued cleanly to make life easier for me at the CA DMV - THANK YOU!!! I had no idea to ask for this, and this took time and resources on their end to make my life easier! Thank you so much, Marsha! - The car was exactly as described, and runs really well - better than expected. - They take special care to source their cars from local private parties and AAA - NOT auctions; thus, you can be more confident you're not getting some auctioned off car with shoddy repair work. Cons (and this really isn't a con... just a thought to make the experience even better): - Send the customer the FedEx tracking # so they can be alerted to when their paperwork is coming. I would enthusiastically recommend Cool Motors to anyone looking for an honest, reputable used car dealer. Awesome, awesome, awesome. I was incredibly leery about buying a used vehicle, especially from a small dealership, ESPECIALLY on Cave Creek Road. However, upon meeting Marsha and experiencing her kindness and realness, my mind was quickly put at ease. We were in the market for a Honda Odyssey minivan, and up until this point, our experiences with other large and small dealers had been irritating at best, and downright shady at worse. Our expectations were pretty low when we went to this dealership, although I did see they had pretty decent reviews online. Marsha was not only a kind soul, but she agreed to place a courtesy hold on our desired van until we could have a mechanic check it the following morning, which we did. Between our awesome mechanic (shout-out to Bay's on 7th St!) and the accommodating folks at this dealership, we felt confident in our purchase and have enjoyed trucking our brood around town in comfort. purchased an Isuzu at first from this small car lot. I attempted to set up an appointment with their mechanic due to issues with the car. my appointments kept getting canceled and was finally told I was past the warranty period. the car literally blew up on the freeway with my minor daughter with me. I had to have it towed to a shop to get the repairs done. the owner Charlie, made every attempt to not be held responsible. finally after calling channel 3 news on him, he let me give the car back and choose a more reliable one. he then showed up at my job at the time, clearly intoxicated, asking me for the warranty for the work that was done by the shop. moving forward to today. the car, which I still have is completely paid off is still showing a lien under cool motors. I requested a copy of the lien release so that I could get a copy of the title. I receive a horrific voice mail from Charlie advising me that I would not get the release and to figure it out!! don't go here, don't work with them. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! If there is any situation to use this advise in, it is definitely when thinking about making a purchase at Cool Motors. I've already put $1000 into a car I purchased in the first 30 days! Watch out for greased up parts, done in an effort to hide problems with the vehicle. They did change out the brake pads for me, put in the cheapest they could get. But when it came to the shocks & struts, no way, they wouldn't even look at them. Probably because they knew that the upper control arms needed replaced. All of which I have had to replace, before I even got my plates. read more

Drove all the way over to cool motors for my kid to spend his money on his first car. Before arriving we called to make sure the vehicle was still available and we asked if there was some room to work on the price and Eric stayed I'm sure my boss won't miss your car deal by a couple hundred bucks. So we decided to head that way. 1 hour later we arrived and the car was what was expected. However the price on the internet is above the excellent price for the car according to KBB. The vehicle is not I. Excellent condition however my son wanted the car so we asked the owner if he was willing to negotiate? Remember Eric said they would not miss out business for a couple hundred dollars. So the end result ended up being $4655 out the door. I informed him my son only has $4000 and asked if he could work with us. The owner said it's a greasy unit and he's not moving a dime. So after talking with him for about 2 minutes he said you know what I'll take off a hundred bucks. Knowing my son wanted thugs vehicle I decided to help so I asked him to come down another $150 and not only would I pay way over excellent KBB condition but going over my sons budget of $4k. And not to mention Eric said he wouldn't miss my business the owner of cool motors said he's not moving on the price because someone else will pay all the money and as much as it hurts him he is not coming down any more and we can leave if we don't want to pay the price he's asking. Cool. I walked away from the deal for only a $150 the owner would not honor his employees word over the phone. Not to mention he would have got it back by his $250 doc fee. This was a cash transaction. No paperwork other than the basics was necessary. Cool motors lost a sale today over $150. And he was ok with that. Just figured I'd let everyone know that if they say they will discount over the phone. Don't make the trip. They are a one price store and they should be honest when talking to people over the phone. My family and I had an excellent experience at Cool Motors while looking for, researching, test driving and ultimately purchasing a used car. I found a car advertised by Cool Motors on the Autotrader website and spent several hours researching Cool Motors on the Better Business Bureau website and on Cool Motors website and Facebook page as well as Yelp and other web reviews of Cool Motors. The cars I looked at were priced fairly (above trade-in price but well below full retail price as researched on the Kelly Blue Book and Edmund's websites) and appeared to be a cut above the quality of many vehicles on competing used car lots. I dealt with Eric Martinez who answered all of my questions, provided a Carfax report of the car I was interested in and was responsive to our needs and what we were looking for in a vehicle. The shopping experience at Cool Motors was a low pressure, positive experience. We were able to take the car on a good test drive and were allotted the time needed to look into the details of the car. In the end, we purchased the car and after a few days with it, are satisfied with our vehicle and with Cool Motors. Eric handled all of the paperwork and Lead Lot Attendant Kerry Armstrong saw that all of our logistic needs were met. I recommend Cool Motors to my family, friends and others looking for a good quality used car and a good used car search and purchase experience.
