I recently hired Cool R Us to replace an old PTAC unit with a new Mitsubishi mini split in our back house. I had reached out to two other local companies for quotes, but neither provided an electrician contact or assistance with removing the old unit. Cool R Us went above and beyond, assisting with everything and making the entire project much less stressful for me. While they weren't the cheapest option, quality work is rarely the least expensive. Josh, who came out on day one, was excellent--maintaining clear communication throughout the process. I bought a brand new system and was specific as to the type of thermostat I wanted; the wrong onewas installed; we failed inspection due to improper grounding of the system and an electrician needed to be hired to do the work; reminded Josh that we needed the original permit reinspected and closed....no inspection has been done and the permit has expired. The electrician had to make a hole in the drywall and did a poor patch repair and I had to hire someone else to fix it. I would not recommend this company nor use them again. read more

My AC stopped working late at nite, naturally. My daughter recommended calling Called 'COOL R US', Jacksonville as she had used them and was extremely happy with their service. I called COOL R US around 8:30am. They immediately scheduled me for same day service call, afternoon. About 30 mins later their rep, Jackie, called and asked if he could come sooner. Within an hour the COOL R US rep came, fixed the problem (bad capacitor) and was gone. Price was very reasonable. The Rep even called back an hour later to ensure system was cooling. Cool R Us installed a unit in a home that was under renovation and in very bad shape. The unit they removed was a refurbished and ancient one. Further, the ducts were at least 50 years old. It was dirty to understate the situation. They did their usual superb job, quickly, and efficiently. Not only that, but when they cleaned, they cleaned up debris from other construction- leaving the place better than they found it. Now the air smells pure and clean, and the thermostat is highly sensitive to starting and stopping at the exact temp it is set at. The price was thousands less than other companies. This company is characterized by honesty and integrity. I had recommended them to my friend because I have used Cool R Us since at least 2014 if not before. In the current climate where trust is a rare commodity, you can count on them. read more

These guys did a great job, reasonable price, and always texted when they were on the way or when they had me scheduled. Super easy to communicate with. We had a drain line to a sump pump that overflowed before they came and they came back after installation to help me with the drain line, technically not part of their original scope, at no additional cost. The guy even took off his shoes and socks to get in where the sump pump had overflowed in my basement (yes in Jax) again, not part of his work at all but just helped me out. My dad said he's been using them for almost 20 years. I used Snyder AC for years and years even into our new home but they wanted over $16k for the same unit and service. I would NOT recommend Cool R US at all. I called because I was having air flow issues and they sent out a guy who did not check all of the issues. He made a quick fix with the ducts that ended up getting worse because it wasn't done properly and it wasn't the underlying issue. I called Cool R US back to see if they could come back out and do a more thorough check to see why the issues were still happening. The second tech, Aldi, was great! He found the bigger issue with the damper motor and that made more sense. They sent me a quote and when I called to make sure that I wasn't paying twice for the same duct work since it wasn't done property the first visit; the owner, Mr, Gjorka, said that "his guys do not mess up" and he refused to acknowledge a mistake was made on the first visit. It was a small issue compared to the bigger issue, but I was more than willing to pay for the more expensive damper motor repair; I just didn't want to pay twice for the same duct repair. This is not a good business mentality and poor customer service. I never believe that the customer is always right; however, Mr. Gjoka was rude, talked over me and dismissed me. Maybe it's because I'm a female, but regardless, I would not recommend a company that does not stand by their work or believe their people make mistakes. Air conditioning went out over nite called at 6:45 am and gentlemen told me to send info in text message! I responded and had a scheduled appt 5 mins later for same day. Was on time, very nice and everything up and running in less than 30 mins!!! Who would have thought I could get this accomplished same day in the mist of the dang summer heat! Lek (owner), Aldi and Clevis came to look at some issues we've been having with zones, humidity, temp fluctuations, hot rooms, etc. They reviewed the house like pros and provided a detailed analysis on how to fix it. No more cosmetic fixes, but systemic corrections involving. So glad I met them. Getting ready to implement their recommendation... Update: Implemented their recommendation for a variable speed Trane unit and it solved the temperature and humidity issue we had on second floor. Added a zone to handle some hot East facing bedrooms and replaced and rehung some flexible conduit. We contacted this company, initially, to help us evaluate and correct a heating/ air conditioning flow problem in our home. Josh Conway [estimator] conducted an evaluation of our current system from top to bottom, and then provided recommendations to achieve our goal. Once we were satisfied with a recommendation to remove/ replace our current ducting system, and after review of the company's performance [they provided copies of both medical and liability insurance, which we verified separately], we settled on a date for work to be started. On the work day, Vase and his work crew arrived early, and completed the entire job in one day [about 9 AM - 5 PM, from first truck arrival through final cleanup and departure]. Duct replacement and improvement in residential home. Excellent job. They spotted the issue quickly (an earlier home owner had re configured some ducts and used lower quality materials and a poor design, obstructing air flow). The proposal was a reasonable price. The job was done quickly with no mess left to clean up. They did NOT try to upsell me into upgrades/replacements that I don't need. Communication was excellent every step of the way. We had an AC failure on a Sunday, and Cool R US came out within a couple of hours and didn't charge a weekend rate to fix the issue. I was surprised to find that the owner of the company, Lek, was the guy who had showed up. He was professional, friendly, efficient and trustworthy. I asked about the age of the unit and the need to replace it, but he said that it wasn't a failing unit yet, just did the repair at a reasonable cost. He recommended waiting a bit on replacing the unit until something more costly to repair failed. Sure enough, a year later, the unit had a significant failure and Lek and his crew then gave a very competitive estimate (the second lowest of 4 bids) on replacing both units. They scheduled the swap in one day so that we weren't out of AC for more than a partial day. They were very clean and tidy in their work and the way they left everything. Since then, we have scheduled them for periodic maintenance and again, always on time, professional, friendly, and give great advice on maintaining the system. AND their prices are very fair ... From Ed and Lea Dabalos It was mid to late afternoon when we had a little problem with our a/c... the air mover/handler (inside the house) was running, yet the house was not being cooled down... the compressor was making noise, but its cooling fan was not running. We were not sure if there was a problem, so we called their emergency phone number quickly. The person we spoke with, very quickly instructed us to look for the obvious... also instructed us to turn off/reset power. When we were not able to fix the problem, the person we spoke to quickly informed us of technicians coming to check it out Unlike other companies that take too long to respond, I was very surprised how quickly their technicians (Antonin and Robert) showed up, maybe because it was getting late in the afternoon. They went to work quickly and promised that they wouldn't leave us without our a/c for the evening. They were courteous, friendly, and kept us informed about what they were doing. To make it short, they identified a problem and corrected it quickly. I call it "outstanding aftercare" ... most companies don't have anything to do with you after buying their products. Our previous system was 19 years old and not heating or coolong. I called cool or us based upon recommendations I received. Josh did an examination of the duct work, size and style house (2 Floor) and we discussed multiple options from basic full-On/full-off to 750 variable stage Cadillac version. I opted for a middle level 4Ton 17 seer 2-stage system. On install day Aldi called before arrival and we did a walk-through of the existing system and what was going to be done for the new. They coordinated with me as needed and answered all my questions. Heating and cooling stages were tested before departure as well as set-up of the new digital control panel. Very professional. This is our second experience with Cool R Us. Both went perfectly. They were able to spot the freon leak without testing, which saved us money. Their freon price per pound is the lowest I've seen in Jacksonville. While working on the repair, they found out that the fan blades weren't spinning on the condenser(?), so that saved on needing a second visit. Very good work, nice people. read more

These guys will not talk down to you and they will walk you through everything to ensure you are well aware of all charges and service plans. We've hired this company on several occasions now, and have always been more than satisfied with their service. On two particular occasions (each in summer), our older unit quit working due to different parts going bad. On both occasions, Lek answered the phone and though he made no promises, was able to work us into the day's schedule after determining that I stay home with a child. I called these guys after the good reviews, but they pulled the same old tricks... "Oh! How old is this unit? You may need a new one...!!". Initially Cool R Us impressed me because they came out to assess the AC that had frozen up the day after being called. The AC unit is located on the roof of a condo. They said they couldn't do anything because there was still ice on the unit and said they would come back in two days. On the day they were supposed to return, they called in the morning and said they were cancelling because they didn't want to walk up 7 condo floors to where the AC unit was located. I understand the reason, but why say you're coming back when you're not and leave us stranded ? We could have called another company two days sooner! read more

I purchased a complete Trane AC/Heat Pump System from Cool R Us and it was installed today. Everything was silky smooth from my first contact with them until their awesome installation crew departed leaving the job site cleaner that it was when they arrived. I had to stop one of the guys from sweeping my driveway before he left. I have several friends that have purchased Carrier and Trane Systems from them and were 100% satisfied, which is why I gave them the opportunity to earn my business. I called them first, and after meeting with Josh and seeing his very professional presentation, I was sure that is where I wanted to do business. However, it is also about cost, so I got 3 other estimates before making my decision. Other bids were $1500 to $3000 more for the same job, same equipment. Josh and I went back and forth trying to fine tune exactly what I needed and wanted. I changed my mind about different things several times, and every time he would send me a new proposal with my changes. I'm sure I made him crazy with all my questions, but I wanted to make sure there would be no misunderstandings come install time. He was always very friendly and helpful to me, making sure I was going to be happy with my decision. Having rental properties over the last 30 years I have purchased many new A/C units and have done business with many different companies in Alabama and Florida, but have never run into anyone the caliber of Cool R Us. We live out of town and own rental property. We had a brand new unit and our renter called and said that the air was not working. Because we were unable to get a hold of the original installer the renter had hired a company, because he had a coupon for $50 to go out and fix the unit. They added 3 pounds of freon, they charged just over $500. They were not able to tell us why they had to add Freon, therefore, A month later the air-conditioner went out again. I called Cools R Us company and explained the situation. They contacted the renters for us, and arranged for them to go into the house and check the unit. They went out to the house, and discovered that the copper hose that goes under the house from the main unit was leaking. They took two days to find this out because they had to add Freon, then sealed off the unit, then came back the following day. They discovered no problem with the unit itself, so they put in new copper tubing and added 3 lbs of freon. It only cost a little bit over 500$ for labor and all. I will definitely use this company again. They were honest and thorough. Our renters even really like them. Had we used them initially we would have an extra $500 in our pocket. Cool R Us was recommended to me several months ago and I have called them twice for service - I am highly impressed by the integrity, excellence, pricing and service! I used another company earlier this year to simply have my 2002 Trane system serviced. Afterward I was told I needed to replace the entire system and was given a laundry list of things that were wrong. I called Cool R Us for a second opinion and spoke to Lek who came out the next day (at no charge) and assured me I didn't need to replace everything. He did say that replacing the fan blade would most likely stop the intense vibration of the outside unit. I agreed to do that as he also stated that if it didn't resolve the problem - I would not be charged the $200 for the part. Several days later Lek and Adam came out and installed the new blade and it was the fix for the vibration. He then checked the air handler for me and installed new screws as the old ones were stripped - no extra charge. My experience with Lek exceeded my expectations! I found Cool-R-Us on Home Advisors. When I saw their overall rating I knew there had to be something good about this company. When I called Lek, I knew my compressor was gone and I needed my unit replaced. He gave me a very reasonable price over the phone and told me all that would be replaced including the copper from indoor to outdoor unit. No one else made that offer. Financing was made incredibly easy thru their system and I was scheduled the following day for replacement, both inside and outside. The team arrived on time and were finished in approx. 3.5 hours - clean-up and all. Lek was very pleasant and handled all my calls and questions with a smile, which was very much appreciated. His team of 2 that replaced my unit were both very pleasant and explained anything I had a question about. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again nor would I hesitate to recommend them. As a matter of fact, my neighbors unit went out the very next day. She called me to see who I used, called Lex that same day and was scheduled for installation the following day.
