The Color Bar is the best salon in NYC! I always have an amazing haircut with complicated lawyers with Debbie. She is a true hair artist! My hair always maintains its shape for a long time because of Debbie's amazing haircuts. Nidia is wonderful for manicure and pedicure! Her foot massages are incredible. Her polishing is perfect. I actually travel in from Manhattan to go to this particular salon because they do an outstanding job and are truly the best. The environment is also very relaxing like a luxury spa. I can honestly say I've never had such an amazing salon experience in my life. In fact, none of the places I've been to even come close to The Color Bar. I called at 11:00 this morning and was able to get an appointment for 2pm. I needed a cut and also wanted to have my hair dyed to an auburn color. Chavie is the one who did my color, and I can't say enough good things about her. She was very welcoming upon my arrival and took the time to understand the look I wanted. You can tell she truly loves being a colorist and really wants to make sure the client is satisfied. Princess cut my hair and she's one of those people you feel like you've known forever. She listened to what I wanted and then branched off of my thoughts with what she thought would look best. As she did the cut, she told me all about how to best maintain my hair color (she's a redhead, too) and what products work for her. I learned a lot and was really appreciative because she didn't try to sell any products to me; she was genuinely just giving advice. When my hair was done, I was completely speechless. The color was EXACTLY what I wanted; Chavie gave me the perfect shade of auburn and the balayage highlights she added to the front gives my hair a very natural, sunkissed look. Thanks to Princess, my dead ends are completely gone. My hair has amazing body to it now and overall looks 1,000 times healthier. I'm sold on these two ladies for life. The salon itself has a very nice layout; it's very open and clean and just has a relaxing yet glam vibe to it. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering the amazing quality of the work done. For the cut, color, and balayage, I paid $157 (without tip, obviously). Awesome experience. Came for eyelash extensions with Elaine, super nice. She took her time to show you your options and make sure you got what you wanted. I've done false eyelashes before but never like these, and I say that because the process is basically just adding an individual eyelash an top of your natural eyelash. Which of course gives the effect of them being longer but they still look soo natural, exactly what I was looking for. Thank god I had my friend watching my baby because this was a 3 hour process, but well worth it. The price is a bit expensive but worth it, and you can do a refill on your lashes just like you'd do your nails. Will be back. read more

Today was my first day at The Color Bar and it has exceeded my expectations!! I got a half baylage, glaze, and blow out. Upon arrival i was welcomed warmly by susan and Chavie gave me tips and honest advice on the color i was going for. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to coloring and hair in total. I am so upset not by the hair stylists - they are all wonderful. But the receptionist leaves something to be desired. I booked 2 appointments 2 weeks ago for 2 different Saturdays. I explained that the first appointment for Saturday the 23rd would be for my daughter- she said she would put it under my name... fine the following Saturday 30th would be for me. I just went to the salon and the receptionist said we had someone in front of us .... Because she saw that I had been booked for 2 weekends in a row. So she gave my appointment to someone else. I said is there anyone else here to cut her hair- No. The best is I spoke with the receptionist yesterday( I believe her name was Christine) so she even confirmed the appointment yesterday - she also said we could wait. I LOVE this place!! I have had spa services from esthetician Elaina in the past ( facials, body scrub , body wrap ,waxing ) , but today for the first time I had my usual cleansing facial AND a new(to me ) Microcurrent facial and it was INCREDIBLE . Normally my skin is very sensitive to EVERYTHING(very fair irish complexion ), but the organic product line Elaina used left my skin glowing and feeling hydrated which is so important , especially in these hot summer months. She even took the time to recommend products and a daily routine to keep my skin luminous in between appointments . I can't believe the positive difference I see in my face after just one microcurrent facial and light treatment . I have been here a few times now to see Elaina for facials and I am consistently amazed. Not only is she super informative and kind but I feel safe letting her do anything to my skin! The first time I went she introduced me to LED light therapy and I fell INLOVE. after the first time I had instantly noticed a difference in any inflammation and breakouts I had on my skin that wouldn't go away for months! I even got compliments from my friends and told them it was all thanks to Elaina. I have now been about 3/4 times and my skin has done a complete 180 and I will never go without doing a session of the LED again! HIGHLY recommend her. She addresses every issue she notices on your skin and takes her time with everything. Decided on this salon after reading the reviews but learned my lesson!! I went by the salon reviews not the reviews of the stylist. I wanted a blonde balayage and instead was left with a blotchy orange ombré. I called the salon and made an appt to come back to fix it, the day of the appt I got a call from a different receptionist saying that I was late. My appt was for 12.. Not 11. She had a rude attitude and at that point I did not want to go back. It was a very expensive mistake but it's my hair and I refused to walk around like that. She gives it so much volume with a skillful cut. I don't style my hair at home, so Natalia took that into consideration with her cut. I had been coming to the The Color Bar for about 5 years, but unfortunately I moved away and had to find a new salon closer to where I lived. Long story short, the new salon I went to really messed up my hair. Instead of natural blonde highlights (like I always do) they made it look like they dumped bleach on my head. I was left with a yellow/ orange mess, it was terrible. I new I needed to travel back to The Color Bar and see if they could salvage my hair. Chavie not only COMPLETELY fixed it, but gave me exactly what I originally wanted. Chavie is truly a master of her art, she took one look at my hair and knew exactly what to do and more! Not only did Linda manage to put my hair into a gorgeous up-do reminiscent of a 1950s pin-up, but she also helped out with my make-up and etc before I took a car to my event. Usually when I get my hair done , I am not 100% satisfied. However, color bar went beyond my expectations. I did balayage and showed Chavi ( my colorist) some looks I was trying to achieve and she used it as inspiration for what would look better on me. The cut I was most scared about because I had a bad experience the last time someone cut my hair( not form this salon). Aisha (hairdresser) listen and explained what she could do to fix it. I knew a good bit of length had to come off, but I had trims that would take more off. I went to get a balayage done with my younger, teenage sister for her birthday. I asked for a price and it was very up in the air and when i pushed a little more i got a number. It costs extra to dry your hair after washing out the dye, which i wish someone would have told us, because who wants to dye their hair and not even have it dried so that you could see the color. My sisters hair came out nice and the colorists were super sweet but my hair came out awful. I didn't say anything when i was there because i didn't wanna make a scene when i had my sister with me, but half my hair is white, a third is blonde and the other third is brassy. I've been trying to fix it with purple shampoo but it looks like i'm gonna have to go get it professionally corrected. The employees are sweet but the overall cost is above average, I didn't get the color i wanted, and they all pretended that it came out perfect (probably because i look 15 as well when i'm actually 23) and i think that's shady when my hair was clearly brassy and had 3 different colors in it. Shavi does my color and always talks to me before mixing my color to make sure I'm still happy. While waiting for the color to set I'm always asked if I would like something to drink. Worst experience ever! I just moved to the area and was excited to have my hair done in a new salon. A friend of mine recommended the salon and I was certain that I would love it. My hair came out nothing like what I asked for. I came back later that day to correct the color and it was still way off. I was then asked to come back 3 weeks later so that the corrective color wouldn't mess up my hair. I came back at that time and received a dye that was more or less what I had asked for. This was about 2 months ago. Here's my gripe... Every time I was my hair, 2 months later my hair color still bleeds onto my nails. In other words I believe that the salon uses poor quality dye and that the staff is not knowledgable enough to work with my hair. I look forward to taking my business else where and recommend that you do the same. read more
