Chevy Cooper (owner) knocked on my door back in July of this year (2019) and I decided to give him a try. I had never hired a landscaping/yard maintenance company prior to that (just mowed my own yard). But, truthfully, I don't like having to go out and work in the yard every week, and Chevy's prices were very reasonable. Chevy has consistently shown up, he does everything, and pays attention to the little details. At first I didn't know him well enough, but now I'm comfortable having him do the back yard when I'm not home. I have 6 fruit trees that needed pruning. Chevy prepared a bid and did a great job. Didn't take too much, and cleaned everything up nicely. If you're tired of having to mow the grass, or if you have a job you need done, I'd recommend Chevy to anyone. BEWARE: This is not "company" but is a bait and switch operation. One kid with a variety of helpers none of which are trained nor mentored as true Gardner's. Good for one shot basic clean up is what I think. Check the website as it is a complete fabrication-all photos are stock pulled from the internet. The guy who says he owns the company, Chevy, turns out to be a tool of another mystery owner. He arrived to "maintain a garden" with nothing but a leaf blower. No tools, no hedge clippers, no weed sprayer, nothing And wanted close to $80 an hour. We dispensed with that nonsense straight away. We gave this young guy work when he had no idea how to do anything beyond blowing leaves. Shows up on some visits by himself or with a different "helper" each visit, who all required supervision so as not to destroy a 20 year old mature garden. He did a good job managing leaves through the winter and was allowed to dispose on sight in order to avoid disposal fees at the dump. By appearances is texting and showing up on time are good but its a cover for how much this kid does not know about managing a garden. Does not know how to turn on a watering system, carries no drip line replacement, cannot shape a hedge nor does he know the difference between a weed and a plant and anything about plant names like roses? Forget it. Did not carry shovel nor rake. I had to insist he bring a long stick hedger, a canister and roundup to spray weeds. He cannot plant nor move plants as he admits he does not know how---I took off work to "protect" the beautiful aged garden that would be wiped out without oversight. If he shows up now with equipment it's because over the 5 months he worked for us, it was insisted that he become professional. Carries no insurance so be prepared to pay the doctor bill if he gets hurt on your job. We finally settled on hours and rate of $30 and hour for him and 20 for his helper. He was pulling in $900 per month and making $40 an hour when he showed up alone. Trained him every appointment for 20 times here so please thank me later. No good deed goes unpunished!! Nice kid in the beginning, sort of begged to be kept on but I finally said you cannot command nor am I interesting in paying your ridiculous rate demands. I thought we were done at that point but he agreed to a more reasonable rate that was somewhat commensurate with what he knew, which was nothing. Enter the mystery partner/owner. He gave notice today as $300 for 2 guys at 4 hours was not enough money. We had settled on $900 a month for strictly limited hours. No notice just quit! BEWARE! They removed multiple bushes, even digging out the root system of a large area of bamboo. And trimmed many trees and bushes along with cutting the lawn and hauling off all debris. The scheduling and payment was all done online. It was really easy to use their online setup. They did the work in one day. Not only did they removed the tree, but removed the stump and hauled everything away. I came home to check the area where the tree was and could not tell where the tree was located. I contacted Cooper Lawn Care for some yard maintenance. The owner came over and looked at our yard. We received a quote that same day and decided to move forward with their service. The service was set up and unfortunately I was not able to be home when they came by for our first service. When I got home, I looked around and found things that were not done but had been discussed at the estimate meeting. I emailed them and they set up a revisit to fix the items. First, they required a $50, non- refundable deposit to come out for an estimate. So, I was out $50 if I did not hire them. Time was of the essence. I needed the work done a.s.a.p. . A date and time was set for the yard work. Despite having confirmed the appointment twice they did not show. They did not call. I had to call them. They put me off for almost a week, despite knowing that time was of the essesnce. They verbally agreeded to take $25 off the final bill, which at the presentment of the final bill they forgot. There are several items that were verbally agreed to which were not done. Well, live and learn. I will not press these issues. There were two items in the written proposal, which we agreed upon , which were not done. These were brought to their attention. After denying, arguing, threatening to dump all of the project's refuse back in my yard, they refused to come out to complete the work they had been contracted to do. I informed them that first, I would have to hire someone, quickly, to finish their work and second, I would challenge the charge on my credit card if they would not live up to the terms of the written contract. They indicated that a trip back to my place would not be worth their time. The yard is still a mess. Loose half cut braches are left in the bushes, small twigs and leaves from trees are covering the ground. Though the project was a yard clean up job, they did not mow the lawn. This was expressly included in the original, written agreement. The agreement, in writing , was for a LOT CLEANUP yet the back yard was untouched. Hoses are scattered, not rewound, leaves are not swept, a garden gnome is smashed and thrown in the street...well, you get the idea. A lack of professionalism and customer service is present.
