Chris, Sales Manager, came out,. I was very impressed with his knowledge and presentation, said he would get back to me with a quote. Received quote of $17.6k, 27% increase, for exactly same job and materials in rough quote. Chris also prepared the rough quote. Asked Chris for justification. In an email, Chris stated there was a lot of wasted material for work around and between 2' x 3' travertine stepping stones, 3.75" strips of grass that would have to be removed by hand. As stated previously, pictures and exact dimensions were provided and there were 'no surprises or changes'. Chris also stated that I selected a more premium turf. I forwarded Chris the original email from SYNLawn with the rough quote. The product I selected with Chris for the final quote was the EXACT same product listed in the rough quote. I responded that I dealt with SYNLawn honestly and in good faith. However, now I was feeling that SYNLawn was being deceptive, felt like a classic 'bait and switch'. I mentioned that if this issue could not be resolved at this level, I would like contact information for a representative from upper management. Chris responded that I was just unhappy with the price, I clarified to him that I was not unhappy with the price, in fact it was lower than 2 competitors, I was unhappy with the process. Chris then mentioned that I told him I had problems with other companies. I again clarified that the only issue I had was with 1 other company that provided a quote for 31k for the same job, and only mentioned that the quote was ridiculously high. I only contacted 3 other companies, after receiving the $31k quote, SYNLawn's quote was in the middle of the 3. Chris copied SYNLawn owner Cullen on the email. I responded with another email to Chris and Cullen, asking to speak with Cullen directly. Instead of receiving a call from Cullen , the next morning I received an email from him. Cullen stated he went over the quote from Chis and felt it was'spot on'. The email further stated that there were some changes from the rough quote that resulted in the increase in the final quote. Cullen mentioned that the rough quote was for leaving the dirt on site rather than removing it. Cullen then stated that the distance between the travertine stepping stones was 2", not the 4" (actually 3.75) that was originally provided. The 2 items cited by Cullen were absolute lies, presumably Chris provided the information to Cullen. After receiving this email from Cullen, I called and spoke with him. I informed him that the reasons he provided in the email, in an attempt to justify the increase were absolute lies. After a brief conversation, Cullen mentioned that perhaps a mistake was made in preparing the rough quote, not sure that may be an explanation. Obviously I did not hire them. Be careful, my experience was that SYNLawn was deceptive and unethical.

The have the nerve after doing a bad job to also complain when they get a bad review. If you don't like getting reviews don't sign up for a platform that's the whole solve purpose are reviews and experiences. Yes my husband offered you extra $200 because you wanted to leave the job half done! And even after getting the extra $200 the job is not done and dirt is still there. I feel like the experience was a bait and switch. Told me over the phone it will be $1650 to clear out my yard. Told him it's too much for us. He called back and said the least he can do is $1400. I told him it's still much but I'll talk to my husband, my husband ended up going there and they agreed on $1500 by throwing in some bushes to cut also. The day of the appointment he started to complain it's too much work and not worth the money. This was a father and son, the dad was great - no English tho, but the son extremely rude- when we went to check the work A LOT of dirt was there and mulch - and he started to lie saying I should have agreed to $2400 his initial price - which is a complete LIE, never even discussed this price. They couldn't take everything but there was more dirt than mulch. My husband thru in another $200 because he felt bad how much he was complaining during the day. In the end we paid $1700 and our yard still looks BAD with dirt and mulch. Don't use - not recommended.
