It's hard not to give this property another star. Let's say three and a half then. Five star location. Five star managers and staff. But definitely not a five star facility. To be fair, I have to mention that mine was one of many rooms spread over three or four different townhouse-looking buildings in a great, South end neighborhood that make up The Copley House. My rooms were clean, the bath was small but functional and the bed was fairly comfortable. But we were in the basement (101), there was a stuffy odor (mostly from the carpet that needed cleaning) and it was across the hall from the main housekeeping facility. It really wasn't terrible but I have no doubt that there are nicer rooms in this menagerie than the suite I had. There might be worse, also. But if you think you might enjoy a non-corporate, bygone era atmosphere and can be a little flexible with your expectations, you might find a gem in this value-priced, friendly, non-hotel hotel. This is a quaint little stay in Boston and a very convenient location for shopping and food at the Prudential Center and Newbury Street. My mother and I stayed in a bedroom facing the street with one bed, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. It was so quiet at night even being close to a lot of places with constant activity. The parking situation was not terrible. We were able to park in a lot behind the main building with a validated pass. If you are looking for a cute place to stay with the brownstone feel then this is the perfect place and there are many options for smaller groups as well as larger ones too. read more

Fantastic visit. Such a unique idea to turn old apartments into hotel rooms. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. The service was excellent- we stayed 2 nights but not continuous as we had a college orientation overnight to attend. They kept our extra luggage for us and even picked it up from our room then delivered it back when we returned the next day! We checked out but then explored the city before going to the airport for our evening flight and they once again picked up and held our luggage for us until we picked it up on the way to the airport. We rented a room here for Halloween night. I chose this place for the price and location and was not disappointed. Copley House is easy walking distance to a lot of great restaurants, bars, sights, etc. I expected a small room, and the room itself was great, but the bathroom was very small. As a small woman, I was fine, but the larger men in the group had trouble even closing/opening the door while in the bathroom. Not really comfortable to get changed in either. The kitchenette was great and had plenty of cups/plates/silverware and a coffee maker with coffee. We were a little surprised to see the size of the beds because the listing advertised a queen sized bed and a full sized sofa bed. We have a queen bed in our apartment, and the bed in our room at Copley house was definitely not a queen, and the sofa bed was a single. We still slept four people fine, but not as comfortably as we would have hoped. The room was very quiet and we slept well after a good night out. The final thing I would suggest is putting some curtains on the windows, as there was a streetlight that easily shone through the blinds all night. Overall a good experience though, and we will look here again if we need a place to stay in the city. read more

This was my home away from home for 2 weeks. Great studio apartment. The bed did take up most of the space, but hey...it was comfy. I chose this over a hotel because the expense was considerably less than what I have paid in the past. And I was able to cook my own food, was close to great food options, close to Zipcars, across the street from a laundromat and had a park to look out on. The Southwest Corridor pedestrian park is awesome. Will definitely being staying here the next time I visit. read more

My mother, my friend, and I were taking a short vacation through New England, and I booked the Copley House without knowing much about it. I was astounded by the beauty and comfort of the accommodations. It felt like I was at my own home. Small room and a shared bathroom but the rooms were clean, comfortable, and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. I visited in September so temperature wasn't personally an issue like I see in some other reviews. Staff recommended great walking routes and places to eat to experience the city. I made reservations at Copley House about 7 months prior to our stay because I knew it would be hard to find places during graduation time. We rented 2 rooms at the Copley House for my family. It was a perfect location and close to the museums, Northeastern University, stores, bars, restaurants, etc. It was walking distance to everything we needed. The rooms, the kitchen, the bathroom were clean and quaint. We had a little garden area in the back that we took advantage of for breakfast. The receptionists at the front desk were efficient, patient and kind, considering it was a graduation weekend. We loved staying there and we could kick ourselves for not using it sooner when our kids were in college in Boston. 4 stars for overall value. Reasonable accommodations with great location to subway and bus transportation. Comfortable bed, bathrooms are cramped - like a ship cabin, kitchen adequate. Luckily, we requested 1st floor in 241 building. No elevators in complex so be prepared to haul luggage up and down narrow stairs of this converted brownstone complex. Very limited $25 a day parking in back. Street parking is for residents only or metered, 4hr limit. Window a/c, a bit noisy. 7-11 across the street but nearby 24/7 Star Market has everything plus food bars. Restaurants and shopping on the main street. read more

This was my first time staying and I knew nothing about the place. I booked our room prior to seeing the reviews on Yelp. So, when I did see some of the reviews, just the day before our stay, I got a bit nervous. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was great. We had the studio. Queen bed, table with chairs for four. Couch, tv and Wifi-if you came to Boston to be inside. Lots of windows. Room was clean and nice. Great location in back bay. If you want the Marriott or Ritz-that it is not. More like your own apartment. Bathroom was dated-but I did not come to Boston just for a shower. It served it purpose-and at an appropriate price. Checked in at the Copley House address expecting to stay there, but no, I was at least 2 blocks away in the basement apartment on another street. It was unfortunate because I was dropped off from the airport and had a big suitcase to pull around on the cobblestone sidewalks in an unfamiliar neighborhood. The neighborhood wasn't bad, but the apartment itself was not that great. It wasn't that clean (I found someone's temporary debit card caked with dust under the cupboards). Couldn't open the windows because there were no screens and things flew in at me - spiders, stuff from outside. Temperature in room was hard to regulate. Bathroom was tiny. It was the little things that added up to a poor experience. Toilet paper holder was broken, shelf in the cabinet broken, the fan in the bathroom did not work - you flicked the switches and a blue light came on where the fan should have been - making me paranoid I was being filmed or something.... the smoke detector was not installed and a big hole in the ceiling where it should have been. Bed was on a frame that made lots of noise when I moved even a little bit. Rather noisy at times when people came and went you could hear outside door and hallway noise and blowers outside in the morning at 6:30 a.m.! (Too early when you are still on West Coast time). Nice parts - cable, free wifi, is conveniently located next to Marriott hotel which has a Starbucks and was cheaper than surrounding hotels. read more

Our stay at the Copley House was great! We stayed there 2 nights in one room, went to NY for 3 days and then returned to another room for 3 nights. The room was beautiful. We stayed there with 4 ppl and we had enough space. The location is great - near downtown and just a minute walk from Prudential Center. The service was great as well! When we went to NY we could leave our suitcases at their office and they put them in our new room when we came back. The room got cleaned every day and we got new towels and soap every day. The second room was a little warm though, but overall we had a great stay! read more

My hubby and I were visiting our son in Boston and I scoured trip advisor, expedia, vrbo etc....for a reasonable place near my son's apt and at the last minute I came across Copley House. I read the reviews and was skeptical but decided to call. I got Linda at the front desk and she was a jewel. She not only helped me thoroughly over the phone but called me back when she was able to secure a unit that was closest to NEU. When my son found out where I might be staying, he said "mom, you will get the college apt experience". We went to the office to get our keys and Samia who was at the front desk was another helpful jewel - these gals deserve a good raise !!! We got to the apt and my son was the first to walk in and he said "WOW" (in a good way). Thanks Linda and Samia for securing this apt for us. Although there were a lot of steps (not good for anyone over 80), it was worth coming home to a nice living area....great TV...on my favorite street in Boston. I did call the day we were leaving regards some issues in the bathroom so I am hoping they will be taken care of because I do plan to come back someday...so that is why I gave my review 4 stars...but all in all we were very happy. BTW we had trouble with your Office phone number, but I kept trying and finally got through so you may want to check on that. read more

We were at Copely House twice during our stay in Boston, and both times were extremely pleased with the quality of service and our rooms. This is a great place to stay with kids, as it is centrally located with many wonderful shops and restaurants in a very safe area. The staff is very responsive and helpful. EXCELLENT! The location of the Copley House was perfect for easy walking access to most everything. Great restaurants, bars, shopping, and the subway was all within a 5-10 walk. I could not have asked for a better experience or a better location! The staff was friendly and accommodating, the newly renovated unit at 171 St. Botolph Street, contained all the necessities of home, including dishes, fridge, toaster oven, microwave, etc. This apartment was located in a brownstone on a beautiful, quiet, tree-lined block. It really gave you the feel of living in Boston. Only one thing I would recommend to future guests, is that if you are driving, you should notify the front desk in advance so that they will save a parking spot for you. Parking in the area was very expensive. I did not call ahead and they did not have a spot for me, but they accommodated me, to the best of their ability, anyway. I would highly recommend the Copley House for your next stay in Boston, specifically, the St. Botolph location. read more

I loved my experience there. Because I was having an awful time with my knee they even switched me very last minute to a first floor so I didn't have to use the stairs. I brought coffee and oatmeal and used the lovely little kitchen. A beautiful clean room. I would have liked to stay there and sit at the table and look out the window and write essays for weeks. But it was just one night. Elegant bathroom, new and comfortable bed. Totally terrific at a fabulously affordable price. When we first began researching places to stay in Boston, Copley House immediately grabbed our attention based on the great reviews found online. After staying there, I see why. The location is pretty much second to none in this price range. It is close to Prudential Center and several T stops. We walked to Fenway from here. Very convenient. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was 501 on 83 St. Botolph St. It was a basement studio. There was plenty of room and everything was clean. I would stay here again next time I'm in Boston and I recommend it to other travelers. read more

I stayed four nights in a single room with shared bathroom right across the office. It was a really nice experience staying here. The location was perfect and the staffs were really nice. The bed was comfortable and there was a small kitchen in the room. Even though it was a shared bathroom, but the bathroom was clean. Overall, the experience was way better than I expected( I didn't expect a lot since this is not a hotel). I definitely would stay here again when I visit Boston next time. I recommend people who do not want to pay a lot for hotel to stay here. read more

Not a good experience. Booked this hotel online and arrived to the location and was checked into a room that looked absolutely nothing like the online pictures. We then complained and were moved to a "newer, bigger room" which was still nothing like the online pictures. The room was clean enough but seemed very run down and outdated. Additionally as we were eating dinner we witnessed a small mouse run through the kitchen which was pretty disturbing. I would not recommend this hotel. This was the best way to see Boston, living in a Brownstone right in the heart of the city. It was just the right size and accessible to trains, cabs or just walking. Stayed here at the 171 St. Rodolph St location in a standard suite for 3 nights and loved it. The location was fantastic, the price was right, and the room itself was very clean and comfortable. I liked having a larger-than-mini fridge and a kitchen sink in the room. I was here by myself and the room was plenty big enough--for two people, I also think this would be fine especially if you won't be spending much time in the room. The staff I interacted with at check-in and when calling about questions were very friendly and professional. I'd definitely come back here soon when work brings me to Boston again. read more

Although this place is still undergoing renovation, I was delighted by the courteous staff, fine location (right off Copley Square), and comfy bed with plenty of pillows. You can't beat the price; I stayed in one of the single rooms with a shared bath but never had a problem getting in, and in fact never saw another guest while there. Make sure you try to snag the $15 parking in the back if it's available. There is a bit of street noise out front, but hey, it's Boston. Altogether - 2 thumbs up! I'll definitely make this a regular stop on my visits up there. read more

There were so many things wrong with Copley House, I'm not sure I can fit them all into one review. When going over the website and taking the virtual tour of the one-bedroom suites, they looked wonderful and more than worth the price. However, when arriving, our one bedroom "suite" was smaller, more cramped and less clean than any motel I've ever had the experience of staying in. The bathroom door stopped closing normally after the second day staying there (we had to mess with the screws in the door frame every time we wanted the door fully shut). Half of the lights either flickered or didn't work period; same issue with electrical outlets not all functioning. One of my biggest gripes is that on the website, the specific suite we paid for was said to comfortably fit 4 people with a queen sized bed and a queen sized pullout couch. However, there was no couch, and the bed was so uncomfortable that we were more comfortable bundled in a blanket on the floor (which was still very unpleasant). The main office was nearly impossible to reach for service, primarily because their hours were unclear and all of our problems were left unsolved. Overall, aside from the relatively convenient location and the genuinely pleasant man at check-in, it was definitely not a memorable stay and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

The staff has always been over accommodating with concerns that I had. For example I had a noise complaint and they moved me with no trouble or fuss and made the extra effort to put bumpers on the furniture that was making the noise. The staff are always friendly and professional. read more

Where do I begin? We had no idea that the rooms were apartments scattered around the Back Bay area of Boston. We thought we were staying at 239 West Newton Street. That is where you check in. Come to find out, they have 8 other locations! We were told that our place was 4 blocks away. We were booked at 41 St. Stephen Street, #307. We thought since we checked in shortly after 3:00 that we were early enough to get a parking place for $20. No parking near our apartment. We ended up in a parking garage for $33! The hotel was not a hotel. It was an apartment building. The rugs were filthy, the wallpaper was falling off, the paint was chipped, the toilet paper holder was rehung and the wall was not repaired, the floor registers were falling apart, furniture was mismatched and worn, bedroom lamp was not even plugged in, bathroom was minute and the TV had no signal. The creepiest thing was a closet with a door in it that had a latch lock and door knob lock. My husband unlocked them and saw the neighboring occupants' luggage! We could have walked right into the other room on our floor. Surprisingly the bed and pillows were comfortable - or maybe we were just tired! I was expecting much more for $310 a night (includes taxes). I would not recommend this place. read more

the place is a dump. it's a series of apartments along west newton street, that they rent out. mine was horrid. the building was nasty, the carpets filthy, the door broken, and the lock carved out by who-knows-who (burglar??). the room was thrown together without any attention to detail--i dared not sit on any of the furniture. the bathroom was pretty bad, too--touching surfaces was not for the squeamish. NOW, if it was $75 a night, okay, but at $220, it is not cheap. better to spend an extra $20-30 and stay somewhere better. on the plus side, the location is great, and the bed was very comfortable. oh, and the tv was huge. i would not stay here again, unless i was absolutely deserate. NOT an option for a family, no way. read more
