They have wide open fairways. Not a lot of varying levels of difficulty. Greens were slow and not putting consistently. The pace of play was slow, but mostly due to cart path only on the Lake course. They did not have a starter to direct us where to start: they have 3 9-hole courses, so just started wherever. read more

Since I live in Surprise, this course is not to far from where I live. I got to play the Vista/Lake course today. Course is in great shape, greens are firm and has some speed. Fairways are in great shape, and the rough doesn't penalize you that much. You will need to stay on the grass, if you hit in the desert the gravel will tear up your clubs. Course has multi tier greens, and some greens are very tricky. If you hit the ball in the wrong spot, it will penalize you and run off the greens on some holes. Definitely an advantage if you play with a local golfer. They can tell you some advice on some of the holes. Overall I had a great time, most of Troon managed course are a good experience. read more

Recent visit with friends had us playing this course which was actually in good shape and a good experience. The Pro-Shop staff was nice and accommodating, the young lady working the golf cart was very sweet, helpful and did a good job only being seen when we wanted to see her. The only real downside for the day was the lady in the snack bar...she was exceptionally rude, and not at all helpful...it was like our wanting to purchase something was an inconvenience to her. Our entire group was put off by her attitude. This is unfortunate because her service, or lack thereof, cost 2 stars on this review. If you are lucky when you play this course she won't be there....if your smart, you'll stick with the cart girl. (Nice try trying to ruin our day snack bar lady). read more

Good place for bar food and drinks. The restaurant food is on par with Denny's , Polly's Pies type restaurants.

Very fun course to play. Great shape. Three 9 hole sides. Very fair fairways, green's challenge you if you leave yourself on the wrong side, or have a very long lag putt. Bunkers fair, some deep. read more

Played yesterday what a pleasant surprise staff we're Outstanding very nice. Course was in great shape first time to play cooper canyon, however I will be back. What is there to say about this place besides "unlimited golf?" I drove an hour and a half to get to this distant location, conveniently located right in the middle of B.F.E. I figured, what the heck, it's unlimited golf. Right away I noticed that there were very few people there, and it was in excellent shape. This Troon course is very well maintained; the grass was green and the greens rolled true. The course is also very playable, with wide fairways throughout. I hit 12 of 14 fairways on my last 18. 45 holes after starting, and after a very enjoyable day with good golf and no crowds whatsoever, it was time to finally call it quits. It's a shame this place is such a drive, or else I would show up for unlimited golf every month during the summer. But then again, if it were closer, there would probably be crowds and no unlimited golf, right? Also, I hate those two par 5s on the back. They are going down next time! read more

Love the course. It is beautiful but the men (not the women) that work there are complete jerks. The men are rude and if you don't live in Sun City Festival you a second class citizen. I live in Festival Foothills and golf two or three times a week and every time they are dicks. For a Troon course you would think that they would be helpful. When I turn 55+ I would consider moving to Sun City Festival but not now. I will look at Verado or actually in Sunday City. Also, they guy that works in the pro shop charges Festival Foothill residents more than the Foothills fee. If you live in the Foothills he will charge you a higher rate. The guy needs to be fired! read more

I'm giving Copper Canyon 1 star because I don't want anybody else to know about this place. Shhhhhh! Best/Truest greens in Phoenix...probably because nobody is willing to drive this far west to play. This makes for a stellar putting experience sans unrepaired ball marks that seem to be all over most courses in the Valley (doesn't anybody repair their marks anymore?) As always, Troon properties treat their guests well. Personally, there is just something cool about walking up to the range to see a pyramid of balls waiting for you. Not to mention the joy of having somebody pull your cart around while you get checked in. Sure, these are tiny details, but for a guy that plays a lot of muni golf, it's the little stuff in addition to the conditions that truly separate the great courses. The starter was very helpful, and went over the ground rules and recommended that we play the Combo Tees to maximize our enjoyment. This shortened the par 5's and the longest par 4's while keeping everything else middle or on the back tees. Great suggestion! Finally...Unlimited golf for $45.00 in the summer which included a burger for lunch. Sure, there are cheaper options, but not many places can match the value of this place. Just make sure you fill up the gas tank before venturing out to Southeast Las Vegas:) read more

Super friendly staff. I showed up to the course thinking I had made a reservation but I hadn't clicked finish reservation so my name was not on the tee sheet. Paulette at the front desk was super nice and squeezed our foursome onto the course. Also the starter was super nice even though he could've been annoyed by us being squeezed on. Snagged some food in the restaurant afterward and I recommend the tacos. Course was in great shape! Pace of play was right about 4 hours. Thanks again Paulette! read more

Eureka, the best and smoothest greens in the Valley. We were impressed with this decade old golf course way out in the boondocks of NW Buckeye, Arizona. This is a Troon managed course and it shows it. The real Pro in the pro shop was Jim who's been here for eight years. He was very helpful in a low-key way. Tom the starter was excellent and knowledgeable. Lisa in the Snack Shop was great. This course is in excellent condition with tee boxes, fairways, and greens in pristine condition. This layout was designed for senior golfers in a retirement community. The wide fairways and large greens hide some very deceptive undulating and curving greens that are far more challenging than most of the top rated courses in the Phoenix area. All the plants and vegetation are in great condition. The entire course is maintained perfectly and it's very attractive. The use of crushed red gravel as for mulching accents all over the course is impressive. This course has to be the dark horse for best course in the Valley that we played this trip. read more

This golf course barely missed getting the 5 star treatment. Like one of the other reviewers, I was actually contemplating giving this course 1 star so as to keep this hidden gem a secret. Even with being on the cusp of Arizona's peak golfing season, I was able to snag an affordable twilight rate from GolfNow. It also didn't hurt that I was playing on Super Bowl Sunday afternoon. From the first tee, I could tell that I was going to appreciate and enjoy this course. The tee boxes were cut cleanly, the fairways were impeccable, bunkers were well-maintained with collared tan bermuda and, as with any Troon managed golf course, the rough was green and slightly penalizing - unlike other courses that don't seed their rough. The greens, though, were a mixed lot. All of them were slick and rolled true but a good majority of them were peppered with unfixed ball marks and golf shoe pocks. I might be nitpicking here because the greens were by no means damaged and such. The course itself is very straightforward and flat. There were only a few holes that got past an undulating 30 degree grade. And while the course is called "Copper Canyon", other than the final hole, the views aren't awe-inspiring and Del Webb cookie cutter retirement homes do line most holes. Copper Canyon is a bit of hike if you don't live in the northwest Valley but with it's reasonable rates and top-notch maintained 18, it's worth the drive. read more

By far one of the top courses in the valley played on 7-11-15 course was in pretty darn good shape for the summer with no one out there. Greens were in great condition and course manicured very well did have some limted grass in fairways but to be expected. From the cart guy to everyone inside the place was great excellent prices for food for happy hour from 3-6 it was like 4.50 for nachos which was super cheap. My only gripe would be the in the bar the beer was warm after the round other then that an excellent day at the golf course. Also a tip for playing the course the greens break less then what you think. read more
