The course has come a long way in the last five years but course management sucks took us an hour and 37 minutes to play four holes. I had not played at Tres Rios in probably 6-7 years. I had heard that it had been purchased and had gone through major renovation and that they were even planning on building another 18 hole course on the south east side of the property. I was more than happy at what I found at Tres Rios. First a new club house with pro shop and future restaurant, clean open with lots of windows. At check in the young man was friendly and welcoming. The carts were fairly new. I remember the last time I was there it was a very worn golf course that was in need of quite a bit of TLC. While the entire land area is relatively flat there are a lot of trees which add to the beauty of the course as well as adding danger to wayward shots. I was very please at the condition of the course. It was basically green with some limited areas of bare ground, but nothing like before. The fairways were in good shape, with a mostly complete cover of grass that was a nice surface to play off of. The greens were in very good shape with a good covering of grass and they ran fast and true. Because the topography is basically flat the course tends to go back and forth and down the bordering perimeters. It is not a challenging course in terms of up/down or unusual shaped green complexes, but the amount of trees on the property adds a dimension that lots of desert courses lack. I enjoyed my round at Tres Rios, I encourage others to give it a try and I surely will return and put it on my regular golf rotation for play. read more

I haven't golfed here in awhile and the new owners are definitely putting money into the course cause it was 100% better since the last time I played here the greens were in good condition you could tell the difference between the fairway and rough and they definitely redid bunkers or atleast got new sand. Overall for a cheaper round of golf it's definitely a spot to think about if it's been awhile since your last round here. read more

One star is too good. I get they have dormant fairways but you have to drive forever through dirt and mud to even get to some of the dormant grass. Collars are over seeded and green as can be but the greens are dormant grass. Backwards if you ask me. Terrible or no signage for the next tee boxes if you don't know where you are going. JR National and first tee is not teaching kids to hit real golf shots, only the tightest lies off mud, dirt and occasional grass. So many courses better for the money. By far my worst experience when visiting AZ for annual golf trip. read more

Just finished a fun round at Tres Rios. Staff was very friendly, the course was in great shape. A lot of work has been done by the new owners! Fairways and greens were in excellent shape and the pace of play was exceptional. Heard about all the bad news regarding this course, Even though my mission is to play as many different golf courses in my life. I was willing to wait for this one. However I heard they were going to close this course as of today. So I rushed in this morning to play a round here before the doors are shut. First! According to the pro shop, the course will close down today, however it should reopen in the near future under new management! If this is true, hopefully the new management will maintain this property better then the present management. Now the course, I can now say I golfed here, and most likely I will not return. I understand about having a rough to penalize you if you can't keep the ball in the fairway. But, we are not PGA players, most of us are weekend hackers who like to enjoy our time on the links. It's hard to enjoy yourself when you can't find your ball in the rough, only because they don't want to pay anyone to cut the grass. it's hard to enjoy yourself here, when you hit a very good drive, and the ball runs through to the rough and if you are lucky enough to find the ball, almost impossible to hit the ball out. Remember, there is not first cut on the fairway. It's just the fairway and then it transition into the rough. The greens are very slow. you literally have to hammer that put to get it to the hole. There is more to complain about, but these are the obvious issues. The layout is not that bad, course can really be a good place to play. I was disappointed that the staff didn't know the ADA, I asked for a cart for my disability and denied me access to a cart. I would happily pay for the cart.They had a policy that day for no carts for spectators, but that does not exclude ADA. I will never come to this course again or recommend it to anyone. In fact, I will go out of my to tell others to never play this course! read more

This course is in the WORST playing shape of any golf course I've seen in at least the west side of Arizona. They Charge big rates when the only green you'll see is on the Green or tee box. I am no professional golfer by any means but this course has to be one of the lowest rated I've played at it has no signs showing you where the next hole is that is visible via arrows or what have you. There are no cleaning stations to clean your balls.They also had the sprinkler systems going on wow while we were golfing I guess that is part of the hazard the grass was not cut so it was easy to lose your ball even on the fairway I was disappointed in the Course it's self the employees however are very nice and so for that reason I gave them two stars read more

Course is not worth the price tag of $70+ for any tee time. I really enjoyed playing here before the reseeding. Since reopening the course got worse. The staff are great but the course is overall in bad shape. Even with it being winter there are many other courses with cheaper tee times in much better condition than this by a landslide. Golf course is in horrible shape. Fairways are non existent and forget the rough it's nothing but dirt. The greens are ok, they overseeded the skirts around the greens this fall and that is the only thing in decent shape on the entire course. It's a shame as the course was in decent condition in September but apparently management made a decision not to water the fairways and rough and they are now paying the price since the course is suffering badly. It's sad because it's a pretty good layout but as I said it's just in horrible shape is all I can say. read more

First it took about 10 minutes for us to check in and there was only one person in front of us. Second he only let twosomes go out instead of foursomes which would've saved time. Third the first Green had chunks of grass missing from us like it was purposely removed. Fourth the rounds at 4 1/2 hours to complete. Fifth there was so much sand and holes in the greens you really never got a true roll. Never again. I took my dad here because he hasn't golfed in 20 years and this was his first experience of Arizona golf? Spend five or $10 more and go somewhere else, anywhere else. read more

New owner and mgmt have made nice improvements. Two years ago, the course was not worth playing for most golfers. Today, after considerable investment - pro shop, equipment, practice facility and course - the course is play worthy for all. And, the rates are great even in peak season. Rumor has it the new owner plans to expand their campus to include a resort style 18-hole course. Excavation to start in '22. Excited to see those plans come to fruition! read more

Hi folks. I had a chance to play Tres Rios Golf Course in Goodyear, Arizona. What a pleasant surprise! It's about 30 minutes West of downtown Phoenix out in Goodyear and traffic was a touch heavy because of the new 202 interchange being built. First, let me say that the course was easy to find and booking a tee time was very easy on the internet. You can also call the course directly and get the same prices, so you can save some money on fees. We played middle tees at 6500 yards and had to wait on a few holes for players to hit and move on, but mostly, pace of play was great. Didn't see a beverage person but the club house restaurant had great sandwiches and drinks. The fairways were well groomed, and grass was soft. The greens were in great shape! There were very few ball marks and the surface was rolled and smooth. The only reason for 4 stars was the distance from downtown and lack of a beverage cart. Please go play Tres Rios course! It's a great bargain, easy to find and has plenty of challenge. read more

Pro Shop worker with no professionalism or people skills, the most ill tempered person I've met, how he has a job in customer service is a mystery. The other employees were pleasant , helpful and apologized for the attitude of the pro shop curmudgeon. The grounds were pretty good, green and in good shape. Tres Rios Golf Course is the name. Still listed on Yelp under very old name. We play year-round all over the valley, and this course is a good value with great staff. The layout, pace of play and course condition is always pretty good, but in line with the affordable rates. If you're looking for someone to carry your bag, bring you drinks, and clean your clubs...that's somewhere else. A polite but effective marshal keeps everyone moving, but busy winter visitors can make it seem slow, especially for us locals who are spoiled by summer speed rounds! Have never had 18 take more than 4 hours, and that's pretty darn good for the winter crowds! This has become our go-to course during winter rate hikes! read more

2 stars, only because the grass is green. They have the balls,(pun intended) to ONLY charge $25 for CART PATH/ROUGH ONLY!! The fairways need a lot of work. The greens are only that, green. They are atrocious. A lot of patches with no grass. They have scattered green sand on these. We had not played here in several years and conditions are still very bad. Will not return. And will certainly tell everyone I know to stay away. They should pay golfers $25 to play the course. read more

Being fairly new (not counting a few ill-advised golf outings in high school) to golf, I don't have a lot to compare this course to as far as conditions versus other courses I have played, but I would still recommend to most (especially novice) golfers. As others have mentioned, it is fairly flat, and other than a couple bunkers and a couple water hazards, it is a fairly "easy" course. Prices are reasonable too; even with the new price hike ($35 for 18 with a cart during peak day hours) it is reasonable compared to a lot of the Valley's more prestigious courses. The staff is friendly, clubhouse facilities are clean, even though fairly dated, and they have a small selection of shirts, bags, balls, and shoes for purchase. read more

If you like pasture golf this is the course. We played there today & saying the course is pathetic is an understatement. Barely any grass on fairways, cart paths are nothing but dirt. The bunkers have grass growing in them. No course ranger to keep pace of play moving. Its took us approximately five hours to play 18 holes. If you are a true golfer don't waste your time or money.
