Sure, the place looks nice - but it's all smoke and mirrors. The food is sub-par and over priced. The drinks are weak and the people are pretentious- but that is Abilene in a nutshell. My wife ordered a dirty martini and the waiter suggested blue cheese stuffed olives - which I later discovered would cost me an extra $2. For the money, I would rather drive to Dallas and dine at a good restaurant. The service was okay - had to wait 10 minutes for steak sauce and butter for my lobster. Obviously, the steak and lobster were cold by the time we got the condiments. If you are going to market yourself as "a nice restaurant " you really should enforce a dress code. I understand that Abilene has limited choices, but I won't be back. I can make weak drinks and cold tasteless food in the comfort of my own home for a fraction of the price. read more

There were 5 adults and 6 kids on our party all sitting with each family 3 checks. Our checks were sent back 3 times. We spoke to our waiter 3 separate times to make sure how the table was divided. After the third time we sent the check back and it was wrong we just all paid our checks and evened up with each other outside. The food excellent beyond my expectations. read more

Two days before Valentines Day, my son arrived home from a 6 month deployment in the Persian Gulf. I wanted to do something special but he is based in Texas & I live NY. In searching, I found Cooper Creek. It seems Cooper Creek takes a real interest in pleasing their patrons. The owner said she would take care of everything & she did. They had such a delightful gourmet culinary experience, my son called as soon as he got home!!! The food & service was excellent!! It's rare to find a good restaurant that has excellent ambiance & great food. I look at fine dining like a mini vacation from the world & this place absolutely was. What a wonderful experience for them. We did a credit card transaction so I could pay for their dinner. Owner Dierdra was kind enough to oversee the reservation. Glad we did. Our server was so sweet and tentative. I had the roasted jalapeno margarita, oh it was amazing. My husband devoured the cesar salad which I am still wanting more of. We had calamari, kids catfish, I loved the grilled mahi and my husbands 16oz ribeye was cooked to perfection. We ate here on a road trip out to the Marfa, Texas to see the McDonald Observatory. It's an incredible trip that I recommend, but that's not the point of this review. We stopped here on a random Monday to eat lunch. I had a grilled Caesar salad with salmon, and my wife had grilled chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes. She has an allergy to onions due to IBS, and the kitchen was extraordinarily accommodating. She can't have food made on the same surface as onion powder. It's pretty big deal. Again though, not the point. The food here was absolutely phenomenal, and I mean earth shattering. I spent over two decades, entertaining clients with a massive expense budget. I've eaten at the finest steakhouses all over country, and this place blew me away. I swear to you I will drive out to Abilene one day just to have this food again, and not for any other reason. Went here earlier this week and was glad to see they were busy. We waited a while to get a table since we didn't have a reservation. We finally got a table and our waitress was lovely. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the manager. This is our second bad experience with him. This time due to being sat late we were finishing our dinner up around 10 minutes prior to closing. The manager came over and asked how everything was. Wow thought that was great until we told him everything was great. Then my friend joked I guess you are ready for us to leave. Visited on a pretty busy Friday evening. Had a 7:30 reservation and arrived 10 minutes early. Server was clearly annoyed for some reason and told us we'd have to wait for our reservation time. Ok, fine with us. 25 minutes later we got a seat. After reviewing the menu we were annoyed that numerous items on this website AND their own website menu weren't actually on the menu. Worse, they've decided to jack up many of their prices 30+%. Ok, fine. Update your menu online. Online they have some $36 steak options. In restaurant, nope. Cheapest steak is $48. Glad to pay $50 for a solid steak, but these were more like Outback Steakhouse. Of our three steaks, none of them were cooked as ordered. Sides no longer included and $6 "family style" sides they've changed to individual servings and now $8. $8 truffle fries? Soggy and cold. $8 mashed potatoes covered in disgusting gorgonzola sauce. I had a $8 baked potato. It was good. Service was friendly but slow. $6 salads, now $8. Update your online menu. Won't be back. read more

Got a recommendation to visit this establishment during out weekend stay in Abilene. It was a great experience. The attentiveness of the staff and management was top notch. We had the wagyu steak, meatballs/pasta and redfish at our table and they all were very good and tasty. The portions are "texas sized". For some reason, our order ticket got lost in the kitchen, so the manager came up, apologized and gave us a bottle of champagne and desserts for our children due to the delay. That was "above and beyond" the expectations for the restaurant in our opinion. We will definitely come here again when we return to Abilene. read more

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary "noted in the Open Table reservation"' We arrived promptly at 5:35pm, and we were asked to sit at the bar area due to " the dining room being full" at 6pm. We came here on our road trip back to California (after reading the great yelp reviews). Walking in the door, we were blown away by the beautiful decor. We ordered the coconut shrimp and had a rib eye steak dinner. The coconut shrimp had three large shrimp in one order. The coating and sauce were perfect. Then we had our rib eye steak dinner, cooked to perfection. The perfect meal was topped with an Almond Praline dessert that was a complete showstopper for our family. Went here tonight for my birthday. The server, Patrick-listed as server #27 ruined the night. The food was alright but we had to ask a different waitress for refills, had to ask a different waitress for our bill, & a different waitress brought our bill to us because our waiter "was busy". Don't know what he was doing, only saw him a couple of times in the dining room. If I ever do go back, I will walk out if Patrick is working. We had a lovely time here. The servers were friendly and checked in with us on a regular basis. The interior was quiet, refined and clean. I really like the look of the hammered "copper" tables as well. We ordered the Cowboy Bruschetta which was excellent. The slices of meat were tender and just the right size for the tortilla strips. The goat cheese, avocado and corn salsa were perfect on top. We shared a Filet and they created two even portions and presented them like individual meals - very impressive! The Filet was cooked perfectly, although the seasoning had a bit more "kick" than we expected. They also suggested a lovely wine that complimented the steak nicely. Walked in and was introduced to a very gorgeous comfortable atmosphere. There's a fireplace going and the southern theme is very homey. I got the 10oz Filet with the scorched thyme & black truffle grilled au gratin potato and grilled asparagus for dinner and it was amazing! The steak was really juicy and the seasoning was great. The potato was alright, but the asparagus was pretty good. For dessert we got this almond coconut ice cream cake and it was amazing too! The texture was soft and just right. This is a 4.5 star review, although Yelp will not permit that officially. Went to this place with some great friends (them as a couple) and with my teen daughter, and we all enjoyed EVERYTHING we tried. The complimentary white bread and butter combined to be melt-in-your-mouth yummy. White bread is normally a no-no for me, and I made an exception - and was glad I did. Good stuff !! The special this night was Rib-eye with a white wine cream sauce and a balsamic glaze. My friends (and his daughter who got the doggie bag) all said it was super delish. My daughter and I split a Rib-eye and it was very tasty, cooked right. Sides were garlic mashed and grilled asparagus, and both of those were home runs too. The drinks were creative (prickly pear fruit puree'? YES !!) and as great as the Praline Cheesecake dessert. The service was top-notch and other than forgetting our salads, was virtually perfect. We went back the next day and had lunch, and it was equally as impressive. The grilled ceasar salad is surprisingly tasty - who woulda thunk that grilling romaine lettuce is the right thing to do? Lastnight was the second time dining here. My son attends ACU and we are from the Austin area and are pretty spoiled with restaurants. Abilene lacks the options. Me and my son came in a few weeks ago and didn't have reservations and sat at the bar. We go after football games. We didn't either time. We asked for it and got it. I typically don't partake in carbo loading with my wine pre dinner but like I said... Starving! So basically if you sit at the bar, and are about to eat your lip gloss off your lips to get you by.. Ask for bread and they will kindly fetch it. We didn't take advantage of the free dessert at checkin our first time so we did last night. I noticed on our bill we were still charged and told Terrance (the bar guy) and he immediately got he manager to credit it back to my card. I did tell them not to worry about it and we would get it next time but he insisted. That was good service. My son got the salmon and asparagus to go last night. He said it was good. I fell in love with a particular Sauvignon Blanc the first time and was bummed to hear that they didn't have it anymore last night at our visit but found a close runner up. For the area, this is nicer than most of the options. Unfortunately the service is hit or miss but food is pretty consistent. Save the calories and skip the bread, nothing special. The Caesar or grilled Caesar are good choices. No shortage of dressing like frequently happens on Caesars. The asparagus salad is also a good option. Order a red wine and the bottle usually comes at a nice temp but for some reason by the glass is much warmer. Come hungry, portions sizes are on the above average side. The salmon and filet (10 oz is the smallest size) are my go to dishes. The steak is sometimes a little dry, a blue cheese toping or a béarnaise sauce would help. The most recent visit was in the bottom two as far as low points go. It had to be warmer inside the restaurant than outside. Our waiter was snippy, lacked personality, difficult to hear and more difficult to get to refill a drink. We had to flag him down all night. It Was a Friday night but still. . .We had to ask him to take our order. No ladies first for this waiter! Of course our male dinners defaulted to their female companions but it was an armature move. The entrees were not delivered at the same time but rather within about 10 minutes of each other. Again, not white table cloth kind of service. We had a broken chair which we mentioned multiple times but he awkwardly ignored/ acted like he couldn't hear. Very weird. We had to flag another staffer for dessert, Dessert was a bowl of old moldy strawberries. So gross!! Nothing like the smell of rotting fruit. Unable to order a frozen drink due to "we've been having trouble with the blender". Calamari/cactus appetizer had little to no breading, was soggy and cold.
