Gosh, I just popped on here to see if the camp was still around after all the fires a few years…read moreback, and I'm so glad it is. My daughter started going to this camp 25 years ago and stayed for 10 years! She got her 10-year jacket, which she still has, and used her GAC blanket through college. She looked forward to camp every year and every year she would come back a very happy, content, and more independent than she was when she left. Worth every dollar we spent!

*** "Gold Arrow Camp is absolutely f-i-n-e" ... ***…read more At least that is the one-liner my 10yo keeps saying. He went there for a 2-week sleepover this summer. Twas his very first stint staying at an overnight camp. He enjoyed it so much, that he wants to ret'n for 1mo! From what he tells me, he likes the variety of activities: archery, hi-ropes, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, sailing, riflery, ziplining, hiking, backpacking, waterskiing, wake boarding, mountain climbing, camping, art & crafts. The bus picks up the kids at the Cheviot Hills Rec Center. Then you do not see nor speak with them until they return. The only correspondence permitted is via email or USPost. They also post daily picks of the kids at play to the web site. Twas a great way to help build a kid's sense of independence. That was my motivation to send mine here. We're both happy. I only had marbles and a fishing pole when I was in camp! (lol) *** Gold Arrow is pricey but it is a great way to cut the cord. ***

Lynea answered the phone when i first called and she was extremely kind and helpful; a lovely person to interact with. I had several more encounters with Lynea and various other Staff people. All of whom were very easy to communicate with; very compassionate, kind, and very accommodating. No one was ever rude, mean or difficult. I never got the sense that the CHOTK was anything but true to their cause; helping cats.

Unfortunate when you feel disappointment in a place you love and support for years... The idea of…read moreCat House on the Kings is wonderful, but the product from that idea is very obviously flawed. As you can read from plenty of one star reviews Cat House Kings greatly appreciates free donations, and help from the public to help rescue and rehabilitate cats in need.... however when it comes time to 'adopt' those same cats out to the same public they have no desire to adopt them out or help anyone with the process. What a nightmare to apply Application process is completely online. You cannot meet the cats prior to applying. Don't even try to call and ask. Each 'review' of an application is 3-5 days. If you are denied you have to wait SIX MONTHS to reapply. Sent in an application for a pair of cats, five days passed with no email or callback. So we called. The cats we were attempting to adopt were 'pulled' they never send an application denial or a notification they were no longer adoptable. Said they didn't have to notify us that they were pulled so we inquired about adopting another set of cats because the ones on our application were not available. They said we had to reapply wait a whole 3/5 more days because of their mistake. So, we reapplied. Loving family, pet friendly residence, indoor only cats, no time spent alone, and a great income. And very surprisingly we were denied. Denied and cannot reapply for SIX months. No reasoning or explanation. Denial would be completely understandable if we didn't meet their 'standards' because I can say with confidence that we have a 'perfect home'. But Cat House on the Kings refuses to give reasoning for denial (shown in email). If The Cat House on the Kings really cared about adopting these cats out to loving families their adoption process would be handled with love and care. An IN PERSON meet up with cats. A CALL or some sort of FOLLOW UP with the potential adopters..... Trying to adopt a cat off of a picture, through an email with no meet up or call is extremely flawed and extremely lazy. Being an organization that relies so heavily on the public support you'd think you'd be more welcoming and helpful to those same people.

Our daughter has been riding for nearly two years now. We had previously been to two other barns that were both fine barns just not quite the right fit for us. When we found Perrien farms we found our home. Trudy and Kim are not only knowledgeable and good at what they do they are also practicing riders who compete themselves. When we first began at Perrien Farms I could not have been more impressed and more hopeful that my daughter could someday enter the ring with the poise and confidence of these young women who were already competing in the Hunter/Jumper ring. Fast forward 8 months and my daughter competed this past weekend in what is now her third show and brought home multiple ribbons one of which was a second place (out of 17). Our daughter has progressed so much in the past 8 months and has truly found a home here at Perrien Farm thanks to Trudy, Kim and all of the other riders here who have taken us in and become family. Perrien Farms barn is full of strong, confident horse people who aren't afraid to get dirty, who aren't afraid to laugh and laugh hard, and who aren't afraid to get into the nitty-gritty of what makes a great rider and implement it. Though our goal was to get competition ready there are many kids who come to the barn for lessons with no intention to go ever go to a show. This barn is accepting of all levels of riders and all desires of where you'd like your riding to take you whether it's recreational or competitive. Don't let this little barn fool you, it might not be the most glamorous (it's an actual functioning little ranch) but glamor has nothing to do with talent, or hard work, or success. As far as some of the reviews on here saying that they are unprofessional with horrible customer service, these women are horse people and for those who do not know what that means it means they are strong-willed, outspoken and it is not their job to create a cushy environment it is their job to teach you to ride and keep you safe and let me tell you, they will 100% deliver on that. This is not a pony ride at a fair these women actually know what they are doing, they are passionate about it and they are awesome at what they do. Again, we've been to 3 barns in the nearly 2 years my daughter has been riding and Perrien Farms is home, we've found another family here.
