Bear with me as I respond to Copy Central's dispute of my rating, Copy Central "Hi Michael, sorry for any confusion but I believe you may have visited another Copy Central and not our store. We have no record of any estimates or jobs ordered by you," I believe you are tacitly defending a policy that bilks college students out of their money. CC "Regarding your quote, if all you were asking for was printing the files as-is, your cost would be less than $50." And yet, the estimate I got was 3 to 4 times that amount. Now that I've complained, I'm been offered a lower amount. Curious coincidence. "Our most recent estimate is accurate because you asked for formatting 73 individual images, which are all sized differently, and to be printed and trimmed to the same size." Funny thing happened when I attempted to use your self-printing option: you told me I had to use your staff and pay through the nose for the privilege. "It appears you have not taken into account the time it takes to format that many images, but if you believe it's an easy task, please resubmit your files as a print-ready multi-page PDF with bleeds and crop marks." In fact, I did take that into account as I was going to pay to use your Adobe Pro license on one of your computers and where I can do all that myself in less than a half hour. You told me I specifically could not do that in spite that your website specifically states I can. " I'd be happy to discuss with you outside of a public forum, but if this is how you'd like to correspond, I can reply accordingly." Well considering this was your response, yes, I am going to keep this in a public forum so everyone, including, other customers and your staff understand how you operate and how you've treated me. Or, you could promise to conform to company policy and not try to exploit your workers and customers like you have been doing. read more

I can't say enough good things about Laura and the team at Copy Central. I work at UC Berkeley and we go to them with our printing needs because they are fast, high-service, and accurate. Even more importantly, if something looks amiss with a job, they will ask for clarification. In this way, they have saved me from myself more than once. If you're on campus, they'll also deliver! Sweet baby Jeezuz, this crew is the best! I was super lame and waited until the last minute to do my wedding invitations, only to find out my design wouldn't work well. Joe and his team helped me print a whole different set of invitations, complete with envelopes and labels within 3 hours. Like. Wow. Not only that, but it was crazy reasonable. Anytime you put "wedding" in front of something, it becomes 3x more expensive. But Joe wasn't having any of it. He even did a mail merge for my envelopes. I almost always go to them with quick turn-around, hurried last minute requests for my job and they turn them around in less than 24 hours. I am extremely pleased with my service here earlier today. I have a research poster presentation tomorrow and had planned to print my poster the night before. I stopped by at around 7pm (an hour before they close), anticipating it would just be a quick stop. Unfortunately for some reason, my pdf file was not working and it wasn't able to print. After a few tries, I became really stressed out. (Ahhh! My presentation is tomorrow! What am I going to do?!) Ovais, one of the staff members, helped troubleshoot for close to an hour and we finally got it to print at around 8. I left the shop at around 8:15 with my freshly printed poster in hand, and my stress level low. Ovais was very helpful, sympathetic, and kind during this whole ordeal. He understood that I was a college student who needed this poster for a big presentation. When my poster printed, I was so relieved and happy. Ovais was really great and I appreciated that he was willing to help me troubleshoot and to stay past closing hours to print my poster! 10/10. read more

Unfortunately a month ago I lost my 20 year old niece. While helping my sister get through this terrible event, I had the task of creating her obituary for her memorial service. I reached out to Copy Central on Telegraph and spoke with Avais and from the first call to the last call he was extremely helpful and sympathetic of our horrible loss. No matter what I asked of him, he was always able to do it with no questions asked. Even after the memorial service I called to see if he could print more so that we could mail some to family who were unable to make it and he did so. I would absolutely recommend their services and I can not thank him enough for everything he did for me and my family. He made things so much easier for me because I had never had to do this before. I came here in a crunch. I needed obituaries very last minute. The employee that helped me not only accommodated me immediately but he provided me a discount. He was very patient very attentive extremely supportive and very caring. He could see I was in a bind, emotional, and desperate and he was extremely kind. I had an esoteric print job I was trying to do, and I called probably a dozen other print shops, and all told me they couldn't do it. I talked to Joe at Copy Center, and he told me why what I wanted to do wouldn't work, but he suggested an alternative approach that worked great. When I came in, he spent about an hour working with me to set up and test my print job to get it just right before doing the final print. The final price felt like way less than it should have been, given all of the time and help he gave me. Five stars! read more

If you need something quick and high-quality, this is your place! As a graphic designer, I've worked with over 20 vendors and to my surprise, Copy Central Bancroft has given me the best, BEST service so far. I was able to simply email my files and specs and then called to confirm they were received. There were some minor issues with my file and Laura was able to give me a few options and recommendations on how to move forward based on my timeline and wishes. The files were ready on the same day! She made it so easy for me and I will definitely plan to continue coming to Copy Central Bancroft for my future printing needs. read more

Copy Central is PRICE GOUGING, applying $3 "set-up" fee in addition to increased copying costs. They hiked std black/white copies to $0.25. During COVID-19 and the weak economy, Copy Central disrespects consumers. Instead, go to FEDEX on Shattuck or Krishna Copy for straight-up & same copy fees with No Additional "set-up" fee. Do not support businesses like Copy Central that price gouge. Correction: $5 Set up fee! read more

I'm standing outside at 7:55, and they are closed early. I had one page I needed to print today. I'm staring at the sign that says the close at 8:00, and an employee is motioning me away from inside the window. I mean, I get it that it's a small business (yay!), but people depend on copy shops like they depend on banks and post offices; they shouldn't close early. read more

I had a pretty decent experience during the only time I ever visited Copy Central in Berkeley. Running out of time to print my poster for my research thesis, I was looking for the cheapest and most efficient location that would get me my poster within the hour. Compared to places like Zee Zee Copy that told me it would be upwards to about 2-3 hours to get my poster, Copy Central brought it to me within minutes. The only staff person who helped me (this Indian lady) was extremely friendly. I could tell that the environment was very chaotic--lots of people asking for help left and right--but I was able to receive assistance pretty much right when I walked in. In terms of pricing, Copy Central is the epitome of the printing market. You'd think I'm joking if I told you that a 48x36 poster would cost $96 for a full color print, but that's exactly how much it'd cost for me. Not about to spend about 100 bucks on a poster, I paid $9 for the black and white. That 100x difference is insane! But it makes sense I guess, with the high demand for printing here at Cal. I will never truly understand how they can charge such ridiculous prices and because of that I probably won't come back to print places like Copy Central. However, I'm glad they were there because I was able to get my poster done and ready much earlier than I anticipated. Work well and prosper, read more

Horrible customer service. Most of the printing facilities on campus were closed for the summer and the library copying center had closed early for the day, so I came here to get something printed. I came in an hour before closing time. It was completely empty - I was the only customer there. The person working (a disgruntled middle-aged Indian/Pakistan(?) guy wearing a green button-down shirt) lacked everyday manners. Despite being the only customer there, he kept badgering me to hurry up what I was doing. "You are running out of time," he said. It's not like I was holding up a line of other customers that needed to use it - I was the customer in the store, and there was still an hour until closing time. I think he just wanted to close up shop and go home early. I quickly printed all my documents, gathered them up at the printer, and took it to the register so I could get out of there as fast as possible. Sure the customer service wasn't so great, but you'd think they have unbeatable prices or something to make up for it. Not really; it's 25 cents per side for black and white printing. I printed 12 B&W pages - double sided - and it costed me six bucks. I'd also really like if they counted the pages in front of me to make sure I'm not being overcharged, but he'd just entered the number in the register and scanned my card. I understand if there was a line of people waiting, but again, I was the only person in there other than the guy working. I'm not accusing them of cheating/scamming, but it would just be nice to reassure the customer that they're getting what they paid for. I counted it in front of him just to make sure, and I also wanted to avoid the trouble of having to go back again and deal with his unpleasantness. This was my first time at Copy Central, and based on this experience, it will most likely be my last. I would only come back if I was extremely desperate to print something at the very last minute and this was the only place available. read more

NOTE: COPY CENTRAL ON SOUTH SIDE HAS A NEW LOCATION!!! They've downsized and are two doors down (you need to pass the julie's healthy cafe toward Bowditch) Convenience: Excellent. It is literally across the steps that take you to Hearst Annex and Hearst Gym. Service: Okay. They do direct you to the back to pick up your reader. This is no clear line where you're supposed to line up. Price: PRICEY. Seriously, a reader that is at most 1/2 an inch thick is already $30!? My reader that is 1,000+ pages was around that price elsewhere! -_- Bottom line: This place is okay for last minute copies, but you can go somewhere more affordable services. read more

I love Copy Central. I used them for the first time recently when I volunteered last minute to create a program for a symposium my department was organizing. Things were kind of chaotic getting the materials together, and I ended up at Copy Central first thing on a Friday morning, needing 600 copies of a multi-page booklet (folded and stapled) to be picked up later that day. Not only did they turn it around within hours, they delivered it to my office for (I think) no extra charge *and* have an arrangement with my department to bill directly to them. It made what I thought would be a frantic day a total breeze, both in terms of timing and in terms of working out the money issue. And they were friendly and fast, having me print a copy of my file and proof it on the spot when I dropped off the order, so they could be sure the program would be right. After that encounter, I was in love. I've only had to go there one more time since then, but I recently went in again to print a small (50 copy) run of a color poster. I love that they let you print off their computers for free (Kinko's charges you by the minute), and they marked down the per-copy fee. The impression I get is that, the more copies you order, the cheaper the price will be. There was only one guy there that day (it was late afternoon, near the end of the day), and he was friendly and helpful, bustling around efficiently to make sure everyone was being helped and knew how to do what they needed to do. It was worlds away from my consistently awful experiences at Kinko's. read more

Here's how I got scammed by Copy Central: Went here around 6:40 P.M. I had 10 pdf files saved on my flashdrive (each about 10 pages each) that I wanted to print out. Went in and plugged my usb into the computer and opened my files and started printing out my pdfs. Each one I printed out; I also stapled, and physically counted the page numbers so I could give the guy, at the cashier, an accurate count of how many pages I printed out. I was finished around 7 P.M. The cashier whose watching some kind of sitcom on his computer (it was loud) goes to the register. He asks me how many pages I've printed and then he tells me that since I've been here for "a while" that I have to pay a fee to use the computer. Seriously? I tell him that I didn't use the internet (b/c all my files were on my USB). He insists that I still have to pay the fee. So let me get this straight: I pay a fee because your printer can't print fast enough for me to be considered "express printing"? Should I have printed 1 pdf file, leave the store, re-enter the store, print another pdf file, leave the store, and re-enter, and so-on? Things to note: 1) The background picture for every computer states the prices for many of their services. "Express printing" is free. Another service called "internet use" is 20 cents per minute.I basically paid for the internet use w/o using any internet. 2) I was the only person there using the computers. There were like 5/6 other open computers. tl;dr: Paid for an internet fee without even using internet because the guy insisted I was on the computer for awhile (less than 20mins). Considering that about half that time was me waiting for the printer to print out the pages, how does this even make sense? Definitely don't appreciate the blatant scamming and definitely won't be coming here again. read more

I've used this location as my primary copy center for 10 years and 2 companies. First of all, there appears to be low turnover which indicates a strong team. They are always friendly yet focused. They can often complete the order while I wait, or deliver the next day. They have never made a mistake even on large complicated orders - this is not my experience at other copy shops and online print companies! I imagine it is challenging working across the street from a large campus where the mainstream culture of instant gratification is reinforced - I've seen the staff here handle countless anxious, demanding customers with a positive attitude. read more

GREAT SERVICE & FRIENDLY WORKER! I had an awesome experience here when I was running late putting together a set of DIY invitations for a banquet, and dropped by to get some printing done. I was having some technical difficulties and took longer than I should on the computer, but the owner(?) or worker saw that I was clearly stressed and was generous enough to not charge me for being on the computer. Copy Central is A++++. They are fast, provide friendly service at a great price! I have used them for a lot of volunteer work that I do, including handouts, telephone directories, name tags, programs and posters. They do everything! I have been using them for over five years and I have never had a problem with the staff. Laura the manager is great! I used to go to this Copy Central for 11x17 and large format prints, but through my time at Berkeley, I've discovered there's better. B&W 24x36 prints here are around 7 or 8 dollars whereas down the street at Inkstone, they're only around 4 or 5 dollars. Colored 24x36 plots here are something absolutely ridiculous like 30 or 40 dollars whereas they're $20 at Inkstone. The people here are also quite unhelpful and unknowledgeable about the equipment. If you have to print something before class, come here early, because you'll have to sit and fiddle with the equipment by yourself just to print. read more

Copy Central is equivalent to the DMV for me. The employees hate being there, do not want to help you and are painstakingly slow. I arrived to the store very excited to have my dissertation bound but was soon redirected three times from the cash register to the copy room to the journal binders in the back of the store. It really should not have been this difficult. The man working the register was also extremely flustered by the long line and was about to charge me an extra $10 because he was confused...very confused.
