a plate of food with fruit on it
    Gwen S.

As an American, I love my neighbor to the north, Canada!! I've visited Canada three times in my life, and each time, I've had breakfast at Cora. From my understanding, Cora is a chain around Canada that could be compared to an IHOP in the US. But I've always found Cora to be better. The fruit offered is unlike any other chain I've ever been to. The presentations for some of these dishes can be stunning. Our waitress spoke to us in English and was incredibly attentive. I had a crepe and French toast with fresh fruit on top. I liked the crepe and French toast. Some pieces of the fruit weren't ripe, making them hard and less sweet. But I'll take what I can get. I seriously do enjoy Cora very much and look forward to grabbing a good, filling breakfast there each time I visit Canada.

My friend and I were visiting in Philadelphia and stayed in a hotel nearby... we used Yelp to find a breakfast spot and boy were we in for a treat! The menu is amazing and honestly we had a hard time choosing what to order. The plates are HUGE, you will not be leaving hungry. My plate came with a waffle (might be the best I have ever had) potatoes, bacon eggs, and toast.... everything was so delicious! I would highly recommend stopping in and starting your day off right. I really hope I will be back in Quebec soon and can try something else from their menu. Bon Appetit!

One of the better Cora's I've visited. We speak English and the waiters spoke very good English and were warm & welcoming to us. I got a coffee to drink and it could have definitely been served warmer. For food I ordered Seventh of July which is French toast on crepe with fresh fruit. The fruit was not the best quality but I kind of expected that. The fruit caused the French toast to get soggy which made me not eat that part :/ Good news is that if you have a large appetite they have a basket of complimentary toast so you literally can't be hungry as you leave.

Personally, it was a treat for me trying out something different, but I do not think everyone would appreciate its almost raw meat and liver-like texture. The Tartare comes with fries, a salad, and crouton to round up the order. We upgraded the side of fries that came with the Tartare into their Tout Cochon poutine. I was happy with that option that way I was able to sample their house poutine without needing to dedicate a full meal order for it. I can say this was among the best poutines I have had. The gravy was rich and flavourful. The poutine was also loaded with a variety of different proteins like the Gaspor farm ham and the bacon-wrapped sausage. The perron cheese curds also perfectly topped off the whole dish. Our last order was the Quebec pork chop marinated and grilled with maple and tamari. It was served with apple chutney, sweet potato mash, and seasonal vegetables. It is exactly as you would expect with the ingredient details of the dish's name. You get a lot of different flavour profiles and textures with the meal order. Some saltiness with the pork chop then some sweetness with the apple chutney. Meaty tenderness with the pork chop, mushiness with the potato mash, and then some slightly crunchiness with the seasonal vegetables. We dined on Sunday lunchtime the day before Family Day. There were people waiting to be seated by the time we arrived, but fortunately our group of only 2 people has a table spot available so did not need to wait. We were led down flights of stairs to the lower floor which was level with the street below. The whole place with its classic walls and decor exudes with classic charm.

I ordered the half rack of ribs, which was a mixed bag. The flavor was good, but several ribs were so burnt they were completely inedible--straight to the discard pile. They came with a well-dressed Caesar salad featuring seasoned croutons and delicious shaved bacon, plus sliced fried potatoes that were crispy and not greasy in the least. The thick layer of BBQ sauce wasn't quite my style--I'm a dry rub girl--but I was too hungry to care much. No photos because I devoured everything. My dining companion had a chicken sandwich she raved about. She ordered a Nordic spritz while I indulged in some Quebec cider. Honestly, I expected more pork options given the restaurant's name, but they fed us quickly and efficiently, which was exactly what we needed. No real complaints except for those burnt ribs. The interior has eclectic, cool-looking decor that's worth checking out. Our waitress provided quick and efficient service as well.

I was really looking forward to a cheesy onion soup moment, but it wasn't what I expected. The bread and cheese were served on the side, so you don't get that dramatic cheesy pull you're hoping for. The presentation was beautiful, but overall the flavors were just okay for me, it didn't leave a strong impression. I personally felt the seasoning leaned a bit on the bland side, but maybe that's just me having a saltier palate. One thing I would like to note is that their menu changes seasonally, so don't rely too heavily on older reviews because dishes might not be available anymore.

By the time we were finished our meal, there was a half block line out the door. This is a tightly packed restaurant with several 2 seater and some 4 seater booths with a bit of a mezzanine for customers. The staff are super efficient, friendly, and delivered the food quickly. This has a more diner feel but with the Quebec French feel. We had the: - house lemonade - soup of the day (pea) - la cochonne; this is a breakfast poutine with eggs on top, very filling and delicious, ham, sausage, etc. all chopped into bite sized and topped with sauce and cheese, for poutine lovers - le migneron; this is a standard looking breakfast with french toast, homestyle potatoes, veggies, ham/cheese/eggs, and more maple syrup on everything, best option if you don't know what you want to eat while getting the feel of the place This is another great place to visit while in Quebec, this is located in Old Quebec Ports and the walk leads you through some of the older buildings of the city as well as past many art galleries. The meal was mostly a hit with the shredded duck savory crepes a big hit. The French Onion soup was also very delicious! I did debate whether to try the dessert versions but ultimately stuck with the savory. The only miss was the La Cannoise, with ricotta, spinach, olives, tomato sauce, egg and pesto which was not a hit. Just a weird combination of flavors that I guess I don't find mesh well, this dish was mostly left behind. Service was really friendly and helpful.
