A charming, local spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The interior is cozy, with wooden windows and some vintage decorations. We went there on a rainy morning, so it was not too busy. Service was nice and fast, and we soon had our plates. Everything looked pretty appetizing! A pretty straightforward plating with the choice of eggs, sausages, toast, etc. Upon request, we can get a little bucket with a selection of peanut butter, jam, caramel spead and whatnot. The smoothie shot of the day seems to come with every dish. It was a good, filling meal. In good weather, sitting outside under the umbrellas must be pretty nice! read more

First brunch spot I had in Quebec City. It's a very local restaurant in a somewhat tourist spot of St Jean. Our server and host were very accommodating. I was worried about the language barrier because I thought most local spots are very heavy in speaking French but they knew how to speak English so it's a plus. The food was absolutely delish. It was a very balanced portion of savory with sides of fruit on the plate. I'm not really a huge fan of hot chocolate because the ones I've had in the past were very thick and overly sweet but the one they served had the right amount of thickness and sweetness. Came in for a quick late lunch on a Wednesday and they had a lot of seating available. They also check COVID vaccination and ID at the door and had plastic separators between tables, which I appreciated. I ordered the fish and chips (they give you a chips + salad option or just chips, or just salad) and a cider. Everything was really good and the service was even better! They don't have an English menu but my waitress was so kind and helpful with explaining the menu and telling me some recommendations. Amazing local gem with a delightfully retro casual feel. We went for Sunday brunch and menu items were traditional brunch with influences from local Québec cuisine. Small and unassuming cafe close to the heart of the city. Steps away from our Airbnb, so we were lucky to find this wonderful little place each morning during our stay. Their menu is comprehensive and satisfying. Staff is helpful and kind. You can order crepes, a traditional breakfast plate or a smaller version if you like. The menu also expands into lunch and dinner so that's a plus. I'd recommend coming here because you will get your fill without the franchise feel and a more 'one of a kind' vibe over the famous places. After drowning in all the options (well, I had an especially hard time since I don't speak French), we ordered the Jeanne D'Arc pizza and an omelette. The omelette and its sides were yummy, but my boyfriend couldn't stop reaching over for my pizza! Man, that pizza has fresh ingredients and just the right crust; I usually hate thin crust, but it's fresh and crunchy and they put the meat under the tomato sauce. As for drinks, the lemonade is so deliciously sweet -- they add some grenadine syrup on the bottom and a few fruits up top, and wow! The OJ is pretty good, but doesn't seem freshly squeezed, so I'm not sure it's worth it. The kitchen made a small mistake, but it was more than generously made up for. When I saw the previous reviews I was slightly skeptical however it turned out much better than I thought. My family (of four) each ordered a main course including the grilled salmon, burger new yorkais, duck confit, and "breakfast" pizza with eggs, tomatoes, and bacon. Each plate was beautiful and delicious; full of flavor. The only problem was the salmon that I ordered could have been more fresh, however it was definitely still a good choice. I guess you have to make a reservation here if you want to come in for breakfast on a weekend because when we got here they told us it would be an hour wait . But then we saw bar seating available and asked if we could sit there and they said yes and seated us in few minutes so that worked out . The service was good and so was the food. We got crepes and smoked salmon eggs Benedict . Many dishes come with a berry smoothie on the side which I thought was a nice touch. And I also ordered a side of fresh fruit with my crepes and they really delivered. It was a mix of different fruits and berries which you don't really get in the states and they were very fresh and delicious. We found this restaurant along our walk exploring the city. Looking to get away from the tourist center dining and more towards where locals would eat which might involve using my rusty French. Although, I have a feeling we'd to walk very far to get away from that but Hey don't ruin my illusion! The quaint restaurant has a nice terrace and we sat right on the skirt of it. The wood interior wasn't so loud and looked like everyone was having a good time. I went with something decadent not usually I would order but I'm on holiday darn it. My boyfriend and I are on vacation from NYC and this was the most delightful breakfast!! We arrived at about 8:30am; he had an eggs Benedict, I had the yogurt with muesli & a hard boiled egg. Sorry to say that the food I was served wasn't up to the standards it used to be. I have had such good experiences in the past there but it seems like when the opened a second restaurant their standards have suffered. I had a terrine which was discolored and dry like it had spent 4 days in the fridge. Secondly I had a steak which I ordered blue and came out well done accompanied with a sauce made from powder. I am very disappointed but I will give them another chance in the future. read more

Fish plater was salmon and not haddock as shown on the menu but was good. Poutine was better than the one from a chain burger joint that we went to. The only minuses were flat and flavorless small beer on tap and mediocre bread. The bill was about $125 Canadian for 5. Not cheap for lunch but seems more reasonable than those places within the old Qubec City. Prices seem reasonable but the two types of taxes always make the restaurant bills unfriendly. read more

I ordered a creme of rutabaga soup, salad, baguette, and a bowl of flavourful coffee. I got the pork fillet, which is very well cooked and dressed in slightly sweet and nicely spicy barbecue sauce. Also got a burger along with some poutine - ate some of both and got the rest packed. Very good food. I had the Charlvoisien Burger with Migneron cheese. The salad was nice and light with a subtle dressing. Fries were good. The poutine, which my friend ordered was decent. (I am not personally a huge fan of Poutine, so decent is a compliment from me). Service was great. once I told the server that I was sorry that I could not speak French, she greeted us with a huge smile in very good English and put us at ease. Only quibble was that this is supposed to be in the less touristy part of town and the prices were still any different from the touristy part.. My lunch burger came in at 14 plus taxes and tip.
