Dr. Kotzan is hands down the worst doctor I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. I went to…read moreher years back&was amazed to find out recently that she's still practicing. The mere fact that she is led me to want to share my experiences with her in the hopes that others will be able to avoid having similar experiences. Where to begin... Well, first off, she misdiagnosed not one, but two cases of strep throat (I worked at a preschool at the time and thusly, the possibility of strep should've been taken much more seriously--maybe a test??) as malingering, though I had a 100+ degree fever with the first case and a 101.9 degree fever with the second. I had to insist I be tested both times and both tests came back positive. As I said, I was only administered the strep tests in both instances, after I insisted upon being tested and after being told that I was simply malingering (how one can conjure up a high fever at will is a concept that escapes me, but that's what I was told). I was found to have a rather serious and painful immune condition after years of coming to Dr. Kotzan with clearly defined symptoms which I later found out were classic symptoms of the illness I suffer from and being treated like a crazy person and told that I was merely malingering by Dr. Kotzan every single time. Thankfully, I'm doing incredibly well right now. It still, however, makes me absolutely furious to think that I could've been treated literally years before I was if only I hadn't gone to a doctor who did her best to make me feel as insignificant as possible. In that regard, Dr. Kotzan took valuable time from my life that I will never get back. Dr. Kotzan also misdiagnosed a melon sized ovarian cyst as malingering, leaving me to suffer the effects from that cyst (I could've lost my ovary and still have issues with that ovary and Fallopian tube) to this day. In fact, I recently had surgery that involved some of those very effects as well as the immune condition which I previously referenced. Dr. Kotzan did so without any information to back that particular opinion up. I'm not a person who likes to wallow or complain and I'm not someone who comes into the doctor's office for attention. I have a business to run and a life to live. Even back then, I was a hard worker and a dedicated student and employee, not a malingering victim archetype. I certainly didn't spend time in Dr. Kotzan's office because I liked being treated poorly. I came when-and only when-I had health issues that needed to be attended to. In addition to the information above and numerous other experiences that I had w/Dr. Kotzan which ranged from the ridiculous, to the disrespectful, to the downright scary, and which at this point are too numerous to share and which I would rather not revisit (I've already given this woman years of my life, happiness, health and wellness--I'd rather not waste even one extra second on her now), which, as a whole, culminated in my leaving her practice, I was essentially blacklisted from seeing any of the doctors Dr. Kotzan worked with or had any influence over. I was never provided with a satisfactory explanation for this type of treatment (not that any reason would've been a sufficient excuse for such poor treatment). I found that to be absolutely ridiculous and totally unprofessional. Even with concrete and serious diagnoses by other doctors, I was always, ALWAYS treated like a malingerer by Dr. Kotzan. I also found some very inappropriate, condescending, demeaning (not to mention untrue) and downright odd information in my chart upon examining it after I had been hospitalized a few years ago--much of which apparently came from Dr. Kotzan. I received an apology from the hospital staff for any inconvenience it caused, after it was determined to be untrue. I would add that throughout my experiences with Dr. Kotzan, I was always as professional and respectful as possible even when I didn't receive the same on her end. I have wonderful, caring, professional doctors now and couldn't be happier. I only wish I could get back the time and avoid the stressful experiences that typified the time I wasted seeing Dr. Kotzan. If anything, my experience with her has taught me that doctors are just people and that they can be as disrespectful and uncaring as anyone you might meet on your journey through life. I've learned to stand up for my rights as a patient and to question what my doctors tell me. I'm a more proactive patient now, thanks to my experience with Dr. Kotzan, though I'd have been just as happy to learn all of that by reading up on patients rights rather than having to experience the atrocious treatment I received under her care. I only hope this review helps others to avoid making similar mistakes with their own health care and patient rights. I'm sorry to have to leave anyone such a horrible review, but if anyone deserves just that, it's Dr. Kotzan.

It all started when husband bought me a Groupon for a one hour massage and free chiropractic…read moreconsult to this office. When I called to make the appointment, they told me that I could come in that day for the free consult, but the massage would have to be another day. Ok, fine. So I came in, talked to a really nice girl who asked me some questions before the doctor came. I told her I get severe headaches, but I'm seeing my regular doctor for that, and I had muscle pain on the right side of my neck. The doctor, who was also great, saw me, and we took my xrays. So that's my first visit. Second visit was to "discuss xray results." After waiting in the front for 25 minutes, I was sat down in a room in front of a television where I was told to watch a ten minute video in which a doctor with blindingly white teeth on a film set told me "It's been determined by our team of professionals that you meet the criteria of 'vertebral subluxation'," and that correcting it would take "dedication and persistence over multiple visits" in order to correct it. The video showed animations of inevitable spinal deformities as the shiny doctor discussed all of the treatments they offer in this office. (My alarm bells are ringing). After the movie ends, what I can only describe as a high-pressure sales lady enters the room with my file and displayed my xrays on the television. After showing me my xrays, she sat down to discuss the "recommended treatments" for what she called "incorrect angles". She talked about a nasal treatment for headaches, Bupivacaine injections, Spinal Decompression, and mechanical and manual adjustments. She told me my insurance covers all of it, plus a back brace if I wanted one. Decompression would be an extra charge she said. I told her, no, I just wanted to try "adjustments," because I've heard that getting them can reduce aches and pains. She then whips out a calender and starts signing me up to come in THREE ADJUSTMENTS A WEEK for THREE MONTHS!! (What the hell, I'll try it a few times, I guess.) Third visit, I finally get my massage, which was great, if too much pressure on my bones which doesn't feel good at times. After my massage, they start my chiro appointment by handing me a form which I realized was for the NASAL treatment. The same treatment that I DECLINED but said I'd have to think about it at the last appt. Mind you, this treatment was NEVER described as an EVERY-VISIT treatment. I go to the receptionist, and the same high pressure sales lady is there. Instead of saying "oh sorry about that!", she starts acting like I wanted them, so I had to repeat myself and tell her I don't want it. The woman doctor brought me into a room and told me I'm getting my INJECTIONS that I never asked for. I thought, well she already has me in the room and it's covered by my ins, so, okay... (But in my head I'm realizing this office is a racket). She gives me the shots, and then takes out a vibration gun to "rub in" the shots. I then got my "adjustment" from another doctor, and when he was done, he looked at my file, confused. He called over an assistant, who took me to the "Hydration Station", to drink a sip of mineral water from a Dixie cup. As I drink, she says "the mineral water is what makes your cells..." and then waves her hands as if I know what bull crap she's about to give me. Mmmkay? She then said "next will be the DECOMPRESSION TABLE..." Yes, the same Decompression table that I already declined!!!! At this point, I had to stop and tell her I don't feel comfortable with this entire practice, and I feel like I've been swindled! I asked her to cancel all future appointments, and I got the hell out of there like the building was on fire!!!! Long story short, this practice purposely takes xrays in poor posture so that they can fool gullible people into thinking their "bad angles" is a disease worthy of multiple months and tens of thousands of dollars in treatments that are (CONVENIENTLY) covered by insurance. Which by the way, I need to check with my insurance company to make sure they weren't overbilled! This practice is unethical at best, and insurance fraud at worst. Billing insurance companies for unnecessary treatments, dishonest and purposely vague salespeople, and quack "medicine" is what you'll receive in this office. Buyer beware!

The curve in my neck was going the opposite way on X-ray and once we started some corrective therapy my curve got better and so did my headaches.
