Unfortunately, my experience wasn't as positive as I had hoped. During my appointment, I explained my symptoms to Dr. Duncan and he had me do a couple of exercises to assess my strength. However, I struggled with one of the exercises, and instead of offering support or understanding, Dr. Duncan's comment, "come on now, you can do this," felt dismissive. His comment was very unprofessional, and I am thinking "are you kidding me?" Additionally, Dr. Duncan recommended a procedure, but after how he handled my struggle with the exercise, I definitely didn't feel comfortable with him performing any medical procedure on me. I left the appointment feeling uncertain about the next steps. He didn't clearly explain why the procedure needed to be done twice or why it was required by the insurance company, which left me feeling confused and without a full understanding of my options. Even the X-ray he provided had unclear medical notes that I couldn't make sense of, and he didn't offer any explanation to help clarify them. Overall, I felt that Dr. Duncan lacked empathy and a proper bedside manner, which made the experience uncomfortable. I would have appreciated more detailed communication and professionalism. It's important for healthcare providers to listen to patients and clearly explain medical processes. I hope that future visits to Watauga Orthopedics are handled with more transparency and compassion. BTW I haven't received a survey asking about my experience, but I have received several emails regarding my co-pay. The woman said "What kind of insurance do you have?" I said, "United Healtcare. Dr Bailey was listed as 'In Network'." She said "But what kind of insurance do you have?" I said "Other than United Healthcare I don't know what to tell you. I see a Group Number. I see a Member ID. I see 'Choice'." She said "We are not accepting new medicaid patients right now. Is that medicaid?" I said "No I'm not on Medicaid. I have my own business/LLC and this is my company's insurance policy." "What is your primary care physician's name?" I told her his name but explained I didn't live in her region. She said "I will have to transfer you to Sapling Grove since you are a self referral." I was like "OK". So this other woman answers. She asks me the same things about insurance and doctor's name. She said "We are a 100% referral center." I said "Uh. Why is that if you are in my insurance provider as in network. And the other woman who transferred me to you said she was transferring me to you as a 'self referral'. Now you say you don't accept referrals. I'm confused." She said "Please hold". I just hung up. They sound very disorganized and not very accepting of new patients. I think I will just wait it out here in the DC Metro area.

I havent taken hydrocodone in decades, so canceling me wout even doing it again or talking to me is the WORST thing I've ever heard of. Beware of this place!!
