Older property but was remodeled after Sandy. Rooms are clean and remodeled. Cold window units for air. Fridge ànd luggage stands lots of hangers for clothes. Good water pressure ànd comfortable beds. Check in is easy. Parking can be a challenge. It's a 2 min walk to beach. 5 min walk to grocery store liquors store ànd ice cream. We've been coming for six straight summers now. Chill family spot. Rooms during seaon are $400 a night and you need to book months in advance. I am a fan. I decided on 2 stars. For location and price. This hotel is steps from the beach and close to the main drag with all the shopping and restaurants. Super convenient. They also don't charge per night what other hotels on the same row charge... if you stay in a standard pool side room it is much less than the others. However , next year , I will probably bite the bullet and pay more. First of all , we booked in March and we were told we could have a second floor standard room. At that time , the person that had communicated my booking to me never told me that that wasn't guaranteed. The day before our check-in we were told that we had to be moved to a first floor standard room, and that floor choices were not guaranteed. That was the first thing that happened that turn us off to this place. But what choice did we have? NONE. So we gracefully said "OK no problem". The first night , I noticed stains on my sheets. Right where I have to put my face. Lovely. Also . The room is extremely, damp ! Everything feels wet all of the time. I believe it is due to the fact that the bathroom doesn't have a fan , which I understand isn't necessary if you have a window in the bathroom, but I think at a beachfront hotel should have a fan in the bathroom to prevent the dampness. And because it is so damp , there is mold on the blinds in the bathroom. Shown in picture. Anyway - the furniture is all chewed up underneath- also due to dampness. I drop something on the floor and had to look under the bed for it, and it was certainly a sight to see.! don't look under the bed just ignore it They only give you 3 flat pillows per bed. You can ask for more but every pillow is flat. And when the woman brought it out to me, I'm not even sure if she had washed her hands before touching the pillow, and she had the pillow snuggled up against her chest when she carried it out It smelled like her perfume, and I wasn't happy with that. The room was spotless and the location and view from our 3rd floor oceanfront room was fantastic! We have stayed at a few places on LBI over the years and Coral Seas rates at the top of the list. This place is well run. Our room had daily housekeeping who did a thorough job. Our bathroom was recently renovated. The beds are standard size, the mattress was pretty firm but we had no trouble sleeping after a full day of activities. The tv got all of the NY channels, none for Philadelphia guests. :o( They did set up a convenient room near the pool for pool guests to use as a rest room, especially helpful for those on the third floor. Our party rented 3 rooms and although the A/C's brought the temp down, it didn't remove the humidity very well, so the rooms were cold and somewhat damp. The unit must be bringing in humid air from outside. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will be back next summer. read more

When staying over Long Beach Island for an extended wedding weekend a bunch of us were looking for something a little more reasonable than the wedding party package that the Shell had put together for guests. Fortunately we were able to find a reasonable bulk package at Coral Seas, and it proved to be an accommodating spot with a lot of flexibility. As many stated the Coral is definitely a bit of a dated no frills establishment. But for quick accommodation and discounted rates during the off season and days it can't be beat. We had a good sized suite that fit three of us, came with a decent sized kitchenette/living room partition, and some comfortable beds. The owner is a cool old head surfing aficionado who even provided us with some of his own extra towels when needed. The stay wasn't without some of its flaws as there was an issue with the showerhead at one point, and one of the alarms went off during the early hours of the morning the day after the wedding for no established reason. But on both occasions the owner was quick to rise to the immediate repair and solution, And he also was quick to cut us a reasonable rate for us to stay in the one room when our third was leaving and 2 of us were looking to stay one more night. Add in a chill swimming pool and basic cable to things like that, and you have a good spot for a weekend beach visit. read more

Rooms smelled musty. Beds were too small. Staff constantly harassed us over our teenaged kids presence at the motel. We were threatened multiple times of being thrown out even though our kids were well behaved and followed all rules. Not an ideal family vacation by any means. If you want a quite and peaceful place to stay, go to coral seas. The room is nice and clean and has a little fridge, TV with all channels, coffee maker and you can also ask for hairdryer and iron with ironing board. There's also a heated inground pool, and enough parking lots for everyone. Plus the motel located really close to all the main restaurants and bars of Beach Haven. Hope you find it helpful read more

Just returned from a few days a the Coral Seas-hadn't been there in years. I was very pleased to see the same high standard of cleanliness and friendly staff. There's a really nice pool area with loungers and umbrella tables and you are literally a 30 second walk to the beach-good restaurants nearby too. So there's nothing really nice on LBI. No chain hotels or boutique spots. It's all old motels. The Coral is nice. Just lower your expectations and enjoy the beach. It's on the beach and you can't really do much better. It's in a quiet section of LBI so it's kind of nice. As far as the rooms don't expect high count sheets or bath products you want to throw in your bag. Stayed here for two nights and honestly it wasn't that bad. Let me be totally honest here, this place is a time capsule motel in the finest sense of the term - we loved it! If you want a quiet stay with fantastic ocean views (if you request an ocean front room on the 2nd or 3rd floor), then this is THE place to stay in Beach Haven. I would give it 5 stars, but I've stayed at some off the hook real 5 star hotels and don't want to dilute their beauty....so figure 4 stars for a motel to be as "as good as it gets" for a motel. I have read the other reviews about management not wanting wedding parties or allowing people not checked in to use their facilities - trust me, that's a huge perk. It's quiet, peaceful all day and night and extremely relaxing. We came with our 6 year old son, and we had a great time...it's a great place for a young family. First off, the place is spotless - I mean really spotless. I've spent many times more money to see peeling paint and mold - Coral Seas had none of this, and was probably one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed at, and I've stayed at a lot of hotels and motels. Second, we parked the car on day one and never got in it again until we left. All the great attractions and restaurants in Beach Haven were a short walk away. The beach was right over the dune that abuts the parking lot. A better location in Beach Haven for Ocean Lovers you will not find. Third, the management team couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. They get a huge thumbs up. When we showed up during the middle of an August Saturday, parking was tight. A manager came out and stayed with us until we found a space right in front of the motel (which only took several minutes). They made us feel welcome and seemed to truly value our business. Overall, my wife, son and I probably had one of the most fun vacations we've even had while at Coral Seas. Location, management, maintenance...and some really nice fellow vacationers. In town for a late summer wedding and my wife booked our room here. Very basic rooms which were clean when we arrived. Heated pool as well. Close to the center of town with beach access. Note, no elevator access to upper floors which could be bad for some folks. With not many options for motels on the island this place earns a three star instead of a two. read more

It is conveniently located next to the beach, attractions, places to eat, etc. The staff were friendly and accommodating, they even let us use the beach passes and parking after we checked out. We spent two nights here for a wedding and we didn't feel that the room cost was appropriate for our accommodations as it was outdated. The beds were not very comfortable and the bathroom was very small. But it was suffice and allowed us to walk from the wedding we attended. read more

We stayed at Coral seas recently and were very pleased with the motel! We stayed in a suite/efficiency which overlooked the pool and beach. The room was very spacious and worked well for our family. The housekeeping was a little off, they only were able to clean our room twice out of four days due to my son taking his afternoon nap. Like many other reviews I will say that the beds are a bit uncomfortable and are only full size, not queen. I would highly recommend a mattress topper or bringing your own pillows. The pool is GREAT for kids, there is a section that is 1 foot deep and perfect for toddlers to play with water toys. We would recommend Coral seas to anyone traveling with small children. read more

I stayed here for a four-night trip to the beach last week. As a kid, I visited Beach Haven every year and we always stayed here. Returning as an adult, I wasn't disappointed. Everything was pretty much just as I remembered it -- but that isn't a bad thing. The motel was clean as can be, with a nice fridge, great AC and a beautiful pool. And you just can't beat the location. I had a second floor oceanfront and I spent a couple of afternoons just sitting on my back patio reading and listening to the ocean waves. Yes, as other reviews have noted, the wifi is spotty (but that seems to be everywhere on the island), and the mattresses have seen better days, but I still wouldn't stay anywhere else on the island. read more

As some other reviews mention, this isn't the newest hotel around, but relative to what's around, a definite 4 stars. First visit to LBI a few years ago I was concerned about the lack of nice chain hotels, etc, but have come to love the charm and area of this place. Owners and staff are really nice and take care of you. Seems like the owners are on property all the time which is good to see. Rooms are not new, but are clean. Hotel is right on the beach; views of the beach and ocean from some rooms and outside others. Location can't be beat-walking distance to shopping, food, fun, entertainment, and more. My family and I just came back from a three day stay at Coral Seas. The staff was very helpful - they were able to move my mother - in law to a better room (she can be tough) and helped with with some other local information - like finding a good mechanic. The location is top notch, the pool clean etc. I wish the view from the second floor to the ocean was a bit better but the dune cannot be helped! The interior is a little funky but super clean and very well maintained. Great stay! read more

I will never go to this hotel again. We were a large party of friends and family staying for five days. My husband could not go due to severe back problems and we would lose our deposit. So I was the only one alone in my room. The first nite we were there, I will admit, we were probably a bit loud with our laughing and talking. I was with my sister and brother-in-law across the way since we ate earlier. The test of our party were eating on the other side around a folding table using the 2 chairs provided in front of each room. My sister, brother n law and I joined the party around 10 pm. I sat in front of my room on the provided chair and my sister and her husband brought over their chairs All if a sudden, the guy at the hotel desk came storming up the stairs yelling about moving two chairs that were in front of someone else's room. He could have been nicer about it. I had no idea that someone's chairs were even touched since I came late to the gathering. So two of us were returning the chairs playing around with no intention of causing any grief. All of a sudden this drunk woman came out accusing us from blocking her door with a chair which was not true-the chair was slightly angled/crooked just slightly in front of her door. It was apparent that she was loaded and was carrying on, yelling that we should grow up, so I told her to grow up-over a chair. She would not let it go. She went down again to the guy at the desk to complain again. She was the one yelling and complaining. -over a chair. At that moment, her husband who was drunker than her, came out and looking at me called me a "C" word and twice said he was going to pummel me. Really? I felt very threatened and went down to complain to the dope at the desk who told me that he was close to calling the owner, people like us should not be at this hotel, and he would not do anything because someone laughed at his behavior when he came up to scold us about the chair. He said we owed him an apology. What? I felt as if I was in the twilight zone. No concern about my safety. Even when I said I was by myself next to these creeps. I was quite upset. I am sure the owners knew about it and should of approached me to discuss. So overall, I would spend a bit more money somewhere else where there are reasonable people at the desk in the evenings. I also found my room moldy and although they thoroughly cleaned every day, the shower heads were full of mold. I was disappointed with the whole trip. Maybe the kind of folks they like there are the drunks that return every year. Totally mishandled. I will never go back. read more

Great location but rooms are not great. The bedding seemed dirty, the room smelt of cigarettes and the service from the staff was less than satisfactory. I felt uncomfortable walking around the room without shoes on. There was also a point in time where my fiancé and I were speaking on the balcony and I felt as though one of the staff members was listening in on our conversation. Wow, I wish I could give less than 1 star for this place. Alas, it isn't an option. My family rented a room at the Coral Seas for a 2-night stay. My brother and I (and my infant son) decided to make a day trip to visit them and relax on the beach for a few hours before heading home. Within one minute on the premises we were bombarded by an old man (manager? Owner? Who knows) who was passive aggressively peeved by our presence at his motel. We weren't staying the night, we weren't even hanging out in the room, so his misplaced anger was a little ridiculous right off the bat. Also, NO RAMPS OR ELEVATORS for the stroller. Side note, my parents are spending upwards of $500 for their small room. I understand it's the middle of summer and Beach Haven is so wonderful, but it's DATED accommodations and NO WIFI make it difficult for me to grapple with the price. On our way back to the motel to grab some water, we noticed that the pool had been completely deserted all day. Why not take a dip? NO ONE was outside and it was a beautiful day. Besides, my folks were already paying outrageously for their shabby room anyway. Well, after minutes in their pool we were attacked by the aforementioned Motel Nazi. He made a huge deal about us swimming in his (again, completely deserted) pool because we were not registered guests. He started hyperbolizing, telling us "well I could throw a high school reunion and rent one room as long as no one were staying over night." ...Really? Are these two scenarios comparable? After assuring him that no one would throw a reunion there, I explained that I could understand if the place was packed, if we were making a lot of noise or if we were a large group, but that was not the case. Also, my parents were not using the pool, couldn't we cool off by proxy? The angry sexagenarian had no capacity for reasoning. Have you ever ran into someone so miserable that he couldn't be happy unless he was scrutinizing minutia until everyone else was as grumpy as he? Was making such a stink over a few people lounging poolside worth it in the long run? If not for the manager/owner, this place could be a nice little getaway as long as you're okay with spending too much for what you're getting. My parents vow never to return. This was our second visit to Beach Haven and the Coral Seas Motel. This motel is located right on the beach and also has a nice pool.. It is clean and well kept. While it is not the newest or flashiest place I love that it is so well cared for. This motel is also in a great location, walking distance to a number of restaurants. I first stayed at the Coral Seas Motel with my husband and kids about 12 years ago. To be honest, I always liked the cozy retro look of the place. If you want to feel as cozy as you did as a child of the 60s and 70s, stay here. It's clean. It's cozy. It's reliable. It's friendly. The pool is clean and quiet, plenty of chairs. Great for kids and, I'm not kidding, it is steps from the beach. I bring my favorite pillow, because that's how I am, but everything else is just right. I actually crave this place during the winter. I don't need five star accommodations because I'm not a princess; I'm a regular girl who just feels right at home at the Coral Seas Motel. read more

As far as Oceanfront motels go... this place was nice. A little on the costly side but clean room, convenient parking and beautiful view of the ocean and the sunrise. Stayed the first weekend in October (and we were told they are closing now for the winter months). You can walk to many places but for a "beach" stay I was most impressed on the cleanliness of the room. Usually a touristy beach place is a little run down, dated or just not kept as it should. We chose this motel because it was centrally located to many shops and our other family's rentals. It was right by the beach access which was convenient, but unfortunately the beds were so uncomfortable we only slept there one of the three nights. We tried to give up the room for the next two nights but the motel staff would only say that they "might" be able to reimburse us "a little" only if the room was rebooked. We just could not take the chance so we kept the room and ate the extra $245/night. In hindsight, I easily would have spent more to have a reasonably comfortable bed. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights for our "mini-moon" and it was everything we wanted. Right on the beach with a very laid back feel and an inground pool! We wanted something quiet and casual and that is what we got. It is a block or two from a very loud and bumping beach bar/motel "the sea shell" which was nice to visit and then be able to return to our peaceful and private motel. The motel is very family friendly and offer you beach badges to borrow when you check in. Late August was also a perfect time to visit as it was a little less busy and the weather was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even offered to give us stamps and Mail something we needed to send. They were even accommodating with keeping some of our leftover food in their refrigerator after we checked out, so we didn't have to worry about it going bad in the hot sun at the beach. There were some slight issues with the tv but who really wants to watch tv when you are at the beach anyway. We definitely plan on being repeat customers. read more

Stayed here for a wedding in October 2013. Even though the bride and groom blocked off rooms for their guests, the motel actually charged a higher rate per night than their regular price because we didn't meet their 'two night minimum.' I thought that to be a little excessive not only because it was part of a wedding block, but also because it was off-season. When I booked the room, they would not accept a reservation with my credit card....so I had to send in a check via snail mail to hold the room for more than half the cost of what they were charging for the room (that they cashed weeks before the wedding). I've had hotels put a hold on my credit card for room reservation before but this was a bit over the top. The room was decent, and as clean as any musty outdated beach motel can be. Bottom line: I would have never put up with their pricing or outdated booking practices for such a sub-par place if it wasn't for the wedding. I don't know that I will be back. read more
