The Windward is a hidden gem on LBI! David, Kaori and the entire staff are so kind and extremely communicative and accommodating. Great location and great staff but definitely in need of an upgrade. Bathroom was a bit scary and bathroom fan was way too loud. Can't recommend unless you're looking for a real bargain and don't care about your accommodations. Only book if you get a rock bottom price, which I got. However we won't be visiting again unless they update the rooms and bathrooms. read more

My family and I had the most special trip to Windward at the beach! The rooms were perfect for what we needed, but what set it apart was the service and additional features. The owner is extremely friendly and available to make sure you have an exceptional stay and the cleaning crew couldn't be more warm and helpful! The screened in porch was the perfect place for my toddler to play and for us to enjoy games and read books provided. My toddler loved the beach toy selection. Everything was clean and easy. The location is also perfect. A block from the beach and walking distance to all of the best beach haven locations. 10/10 experience! read more

Having grown up in New Jersey I'm very familiar with vacationing on LBI. Mostly we rent a house for the week but every so often we'll stay at a hotel/bed & breakfast. My expectations are low I realize we're not checking into a Ritz Carlton. This hotel (The Windward) fell well below expectations. The room which was located on the 3rd floor with a very narrow and winding stair case hasn't been updated since the Eisenhower administration. It's tired and old, the mattress needs to be replaced and the BATHROOM is an embarrassment. I'm 5ft 11 inches 177 lbs I could barely fit in the shower!!! Let alone try to bend down in the shower. No amenities what so ever can't even buy a bottle of water in the hotel. Maybe the other rooms are nicer, I don't know but I couldn't wait for our stay to be over. read more

We had a lovely quick stopover at Windward in the historic section of Beach Haven. We love LBI & Beach Haven and you cannot beat the location of Windward. It was so nice to hop right to the beach, walk through the Park for the crafts, stroll to restaurants and shops so easily. We slept so soundly and relaxed A LOT. The staff and owner are 100% dedicated to ensuring a positive stay for everyone. It shows in the way the property is managed and maintained including the lovely outdoor areas with tables and chairs, umbrellas and lovely plantings. This is a super place to stay whether you're a family or friends group. The extras such as Tommy Bahamas beach chairs (the best), umbrellas, beach badges was also great. read more

My son and I stayed at the Windward on the weekend after Memorial Day (Friday to Monday). What a great find!!! David and his family have made this place into a great boutique hotel for LBI. Our deluxe studio (#10) was extremely spacious and had everything we needed (especially the fridge and microwave for leftovers). David gave me a tour of the other rooms too, many with a kitchenette which I will definitely take next time. During our stay, David and the manager Michelle were extremely helpful giving us many local suggestions on restaurants, sites, breakfast places, and ice cream shop. There was also the Surflight Theater nearby which we will try next time. Tons of Ice Cream parlors nearby- The Brain Freeze, Ben & Jerry's, Uncle Louie G, Shaved Ice - yes we tried them all... as well as Breakfast places- The Bagel Shop, Uncle Wills, The Chicken or the Egg, and a Creperie place. There were showers at the back side of the hotel which also had law chairs which we borrowed for the beach. Lots of lounging chairs and table around two sides of the hotel with a few umbrellas for shade. We used their BBQ grill twice (make sure to hit the Costco off the same Parkway exit to LBI before crossing the bridge). I used their covered patio for conference calls (yes - working holiday!) and the wifi was solid. Secret: Come during pre-season or weekdays for better rates and to have the beach almost all to yourself! The weekend we went still had the Windward 90% filled but the near-empty beaches were perfect! Will definitely return again! Thank you David!!! read more

A beautiful stay at Windward at the Beach. Our yearly visit to Beach Haven had been postponed by Covid and finally we were able to go back to our favorite spot. Windward is a wonderful inn right next to the beach, convenient to the Surflight Theater, Murphy's grocery, Uncle Will's, mini golf, all the little shops and a short walk to the amusement and water parks. The rooms are fresh, clean and comfortable. There is an outdoor shower to take advantage of after a beach day. You can cook and barbecue and then segue over to some live entertainment. The staff is wonderful and attentive, bagels and coffee on Saturday morning. Such a lovely stay. read more

Our family and our friends family both had a amazing stay at the Windward. The best location, steps from the beach. Our accommodations were perfect, very spacious and impeccably neat and comfortable. We both had the two bedroom suite , will fit any family of 4 or more very comfortably! There are So many great amenities too! My family stayed at the windward for a long weekend. I have nothing but praise for this establishment. It is very clean, very welcoming and an overall great place to vacation. It is located right by the beach and within walking distance to lots of great restaurants and shopping. They have a sitting room with tons of games and books and outdoor patio seating. Our stay at windward at the Beach was another memorable and fantastic family vacation. Our family of 6 fit comfortably in suite6/7. The rooms were very clean and the beds so comfy! We love that they have a kitchenette so that we could bring some food for our 2 children with food allergies. The one block off the beach is the perfect distance especially families with young children who need to tote lots of beach items back and forth. We loved that we could also walk a few blocks over to several restaurants for dinner. Fantasy Island amusement park and bay village shopping area is about 8-10 blocks too! Booked a week at the newly renovated Inn. Great spot, great owner, comfy beds and perfect for a family like us that likes to walk to beach, go back and check email, grab a bite and hurry back to the ocean. This boutique inn is a gem! My family and I return every year and we are never disappointed. We have all the amenities we could want at the Windward--steps from the beach; a great indoor sitting area to play games, read and socialize; an outdoor patio with a gas grill, etc. You can't beat this location if you love the Pearl Street Deli and the Show Place Icecream Parlor.--My two favorite eateries at Beach Haven are a couple of blocks from the inn. David is the new owner and he is so welcoming and friendly. The Inn is so clean and it gives me great comfort knowing they take Covid protocol seriously. I can't wait to return again. read more

My family had an amazing stay at this adorable boutique inn this summer. Every room had a unique and quaint decor that was cleaned impeccably on a daily basis. So many thoughtful amenities available and super friendly owners and staff that really made a lasting impression. A two minute walk to the beach, numerous restaurants within a block radius and the adventure park all within walking distance (even for a 5 year old). We took advantage of the kitchen and bbq everyday and even used their suggested babysitter for a night out with glowing reviews from my daughters. read more

Great location, right across from the beach and in close proximity to all the best restaurants in Beach Haven. My fiance and I have stayed here twice and we were very happy both times. It's a cute little inn; not as uncomfortably intimate as a Bed&Breakfast, but cozier than a large hotel. The owners are such nice people and are always willing to go out of their way to accommodate their guests. There's a common room downstairs with board games and dvds for rainy days, and a grill out front for guests to use with picnic tables. The rooms are a decent size and very clean, and some have a view of the ocean. The first year we stayed in a smaller room with no ocean view, and it was totally fine. This year we decided to go for a larger room with an ocean view, which was very spacious and had a lot of old charm. My only complaint is the shower. Maybe it was just our room but the pressure and temp control were both pretty bad. It wasn't bothersome enough to keep me from staying in the future, but it would be great if that could be adjusted. The price is comparable to most hotels in the area. The beds aren't Four Seasons and the shower thing isn't ideal, but you're paying for location, and the owners hospitality is an added bonus. read more

The bathroom had old carpet and the dresser smelled!!! Even though it sleeps 6, there is no way to comfortably bathe an infant/toddler as the shower stall is enough for one person and the shower head cannot be moved. The kitchen had an old aluminum and NO dishwasher AND there was no room to place the dish rack after washing the dishes by hand. I agree with the previous review, nice owner but I regret not doing more research. read more

This hotel was the perfect fit for our busy family of six. The price was right and the locations was excellent! The beach truly was so close! The in-room kitchen gave us the flexability to make beach snacks and breakfasts everyday before hitting the beach! Chris and Tammy were friendly and accommodating and keep the property well maintained. It's definitely a smaller hotel experience but that's what we liked about it. The rooms were clean and decorative, the beds were comfortable and the common areas itself were well maintained. Our kids loved the private outdoor showers! We walked to ice cream and putt putt, and even had a night to grab a night cap without the kids, all within walking distance. If you are looking for an affordable and unique "at the beach" experience, this is a must! read more
