One thing about me, I'm a sucker for board games and a good time. And I can guarantee you will find both at Coral Sword. I usually come here to play with friends, but they also host game events. They have an extensive collection of games, ranging from childhood classics to complicated games that have you trying to figure the instructions out for an hour (good thing there isn't a time limit). There is a $5 fee to access the games, but it will be waived if you buy a drink/snack instead, which is a win for me even if I lost every game that day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is plenty of seating for how seemingly small the cafe is.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking can be difficult on busy days, but the neighborhood behind the building has street parking. Definitely give Coral Sword a visit if you haven't already. But beware, 4 hours will pass in a blink of an eye.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall concept of the place is very fun. I love a café where you can just go and game. They have different board games, card games, etc on the wall. It was a lot of fun because you could just invite a group of friends and play different activities together[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall was really cute hole in the wall place with around 40 people worth of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now the only thing that was not up to par for me were the drinks. I ordered the Matcha latte and my friend ordered the lavender latte. These drinks are probably one of the worst Matcha drinks I've ever had in my life. I'm not sure how they were made but either the Matcha standard wasn't very great or it was mixed with something that wasn't dairy, but it had no taste with a hint of grass. Now I understand that certain matcha do taste like grass, but it was overall such a bad drink. I'm not sure if things have changed because I went a couple of months ago, but I hope they did! There was street parking next to the location and a very tiny street lot right in front of the store. You might have to loop around our parallel park in order to get parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At the time of also, they had a magic gathering contest going on in the background so it does get a bit noisy and crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If that's not your scene, check ahead of the time, what event might be happening at that location for that time.

My flat white and breakfast sando were both great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cool space with games for play or purchase, and plenty of seating for getting some work done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is available but limited, I had no trouble finding a spot out back. I like the extra touch of giving hot sauce with the sando. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm a huge Hunter Pence fan, so I enjoyed the jerseys in the back[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Great hidden gem for gamers who like to gather together. All kinds of coffe and drinks with great pizza flat bread.

Super cute little spot my friend took me here in Houston. I love that it's a boardgame Cafe and you can sit for hours playing. The food and drinks are limited but are really good. I had a nitro Thai iced tea with a shot of espresso and it was delicious. It was light and refreshing. For food I ordered the egg sandwich which was more like a snack. It wasn't heavy and I think the bread overpowered the egg. They have a ton of games you can pick up and play. You don't have to bring your own. They also host magic the gathering events. Which my friend goes to a lot. Fun fact: favorite boardgame is Wingspan!

Cool vibe. I really liked the decor, the chill nature, the games, and the staff was very friendly. Nice size menu with cool choices. I really liked the iced teas they offered. I had the peach tea with honey. So so good. All in all, I'll be back to try more things.

Another cool coffee spot in East Houston? Yup. Good selection of drinks at great prices. Even moreso, a number of gaming options if you are interested and lots of interior space to play. The interior decor was very fun, a great environment for tabletop gamers. I will definitely be back.

Came here for a friends birthday and we spent hours playing Boardgames I bought with me and also new ones to try from their collection. We stayed there for so long and the only thing we had to do was pay for a food or drink item as admission. Obviously, we stayed so long we got hungry so we bought snacks. Their food was average (French fries 4/5, chicken tenders 3.5/5) but the company, ambience, service and comfort is 5/5 would recommend. 2nd time here and loving it. We will all probably be back again.

My first experience here started off not too well and a 1 star rating but ended up being a 4 star rating because of the service, tasty drinks and being worth my time. You should call ahead of time because they were out of quite a few things. Came a ways from where I live because of seeing the other reviews and the matcha looked so good however, couldn't try it because they were out of it. I ordered the cappuccino and chai instead. When I ordered, I stated I wanted it for "here" because I wanted it in a regular cup for the experience of how a cappuccino and chai are served and it was served in a to go cup. Ricky was so sweet and apologized for the mishap and said he should have asked. He went back to remake them and they were worth the wait. Very delicious!!

Welcome to the hippest gamer hangout in H-town! This place is especially perfect for Magic: The Gathering and coffee lovers! You can even reserve a table to study! The staff is always nice and welcoming, Sandy is the best! There is always some unique boutique coffee brewing, fresh sandwich bites, and trendy drinks in their mini fridge. These go great when you have a long commander game or study session to dominate! I love playing Magic: The Gathering, so its always a fun time when and host Friday Night Magic (FNM) and Commander (EDH) games regularly on the weekends. You can join their discord channel and be all in the know for the upcoming events! You can buy trading cards, board games, and get a group of friends together here...what's not to love! Definitely the goal of creating a welcoming and cool place to game out was achieved here, thanks CORAL SWORD

The service is great, they text you when your order is ready and they even say your name in a singsong way lol. I like that they have a new seasonal flavor to try each time I come. I only tried a couple of drinks. The first one I tried was the matcha average mule and I guess if you like Moscow mules you would enjoy this. I didn't really find the matcha flavor strong or there at all. It had a lot of the lime flavor more than anything else. The other drink I tried was the pretty in pina which is basically a pina colada. That drink was my favorite amongst the two. It tasted like your classic pina colada. Service was also great I didn't have any issues.

The $8 price point is a little hard to swallow, but worth trying at least once! Milk bread is soft and the brisket goes really great with sriracha. The hoisin was a tad too salty for me; I think it would work best if it had, in theme, the aromatics from actual pho, otherwise it's too heavy. The yuzu lemonade was citrusy and refreshing, definitely hits the spot during the summer. Vibe/Decor - 4.5* The storefront is cool, nice entryway and gives a chill vibe. Stepping in it's a bit boutique and free space for studying and chilling, with some music in the background. They have a panty near the door for those in need who want water and snacks, which is a great cause, but sadly I watched it be abused in the short time I was here. The intent is, come in, take what you need, within reason, don't clear it out essentially. Well, I watched a lady load up her bag with snacks and water. It wasn't what I'd subjectively view as "fair." They have some TVs around that at this visit had the World Cup on and there was a nice setup for buying some jerseys if you wanted. Overall, I enjoyed the setup and witnessed plenty of people reading or studying. Food / Drink - 2* They offer some bites and coffee drinks, which is obviously what many are likely visiting for. I ordered an Iced Black Sesame Latte, which also had a black sesame cold foam. The disappointing part, it was nothing to write home about. Maybe I'm a harsh critic here since I make my own Black Sesame simple syrup at home. That said, I did have the person with me try it who has tried my sesame lattes tell me they thought mine were better. I thought, well, maybe I'll get something else if I come back. Service - 2* I can only speak to my personal experience, but when I walked in, multiple people stared at me, as if I was an alien or unwelcome here, it was odd and uncomfortable. I approached the counter to order, asking a couple of questions, which were answered, albeit probably not as anyone would define as "warmly." Now, once ordered, it took longer than one would expect given how few orders were ahead of mine. I was in no rush, but I did witness the gentleman in front of me who was wearing a local business' shirt, seem to pace and anxiously wait. Cost - 1* Anyone who reads my reviews knows I preface this with, always subjective, but it's been awhile since I walked into a place and nearly walked out on pricing alone. That said, I wanted to see if the coffee was worth it at $9+ bucks. Sadly, it is not, particularly when paired with the pace of service. Overall - 2* This is one that I think has a lot of potential, but it just misses on fundamental marks for a coffee shop. At the end of the day, it's a cool vibe and I could see plenty of people wanting to relax here, but in a city, and even area, that has plenty of options, this one is worth skipping. Average coffee, subpar service, and poor pricing. I will not be returning, but hey, I'm only one review and opinion so if you're in the area, maybe your experience will be different.
