Stopped in on a cold day so decided to try tortilla soup. Was entirely underwhelmed. Though the serving size was huge it was mostly a tasty broth. Hard to tell what was chicken or blobs of cheese and vegetables non existent. Visited after a drive in a Wednesday afternoon. I found this place on the Michelin website and wanted to try their ceviche and tacos. This is located in a food hall so there are many places to sit. The ceviche is served chunkier than usual. The shrimp is very delicious and sweet. I have to say the tacos al pastor were my favorite and the black beans with platanos. I liked that the tortillas were fresh. It looks like during the week they do have specials. Their aguas were delicious. I tried the hibiscus. What a find. We had potato tacos dorados and tacos Norteños. The dorados were fried perfectly and so delicious, served on a mildly spicy red sauce with the perfect amount of toppings. Everything was so fresh. The Norteño taco came on a wonderful flour tortilla with pinto beans and steak. The tortilla held up to the taco until the last bite. The beef was very good but only one change I would make is to make the chunks smaller so it would be easier to bite into. The Horchata was delicious, not the stuff that comes premade, but like something made at home from scratch. Portions were perfect, not too small or too large. All the staff was polite and friendly. I always watch the kitchen staff in an open kitchen and it looked like they were actually happy to be there and getting along with each other, which is refreshing. You know that stale, fried-from-frozen taste? Yeah, that. As for the carne asada... it tasted old and was ridiculously chewy. Not fresh, not flavorful, just tough and disappointing. Genuinely the most disappointing Taco i've had in years. I Paid 18.02 for 2 Birria Taco's, and it didn't even come with consume. How can you even call it fucking birria, if it doesn't come with fucking consume. What a surprise this was...I typically don't like eating at food courts. While Public Markets have been a thing for the past few years, its selection of variety gives the impression of fast food. I was mistaken, amazing food can be found anywhere. Corazon Concina offers great flavors and presentation. The Sal De Mar was out of this world! The mixture of Ahi Tuna (raw), cucumber, watermelon, lime juice and avocado on a crunchy tostada...there are no words. Just try it! I've stopped here twice now driving from LA to SLO for the perfect pit-stop. They are located in the Santa Barbara Public Market. It's the cutest indoor market with a bunch of different food vendors so everyone can find something they like to eat. They do have FREE underground parking, but they don't have the best signage to get to so it's easy to miss (turn off of Chapala St.). Corazon Cocina is a delicious Mexican spot and their homemade corn tortillas are 10/10. This time I got a breakfast burrito as a bowl and the time before I had some delicious tacos. Both of my parents got breakfast tacos as well as a Hibiscus Lemongrass Agua Fresca which tasted delicious but was a little bit on the sweet side. We ate at another restaurant inside the Public Market called Empty Bowl, when we notice this long line for Corazon Cocina. We had tacos for lunch so we wanted to switch it up and said if we were around that area the following day, we'd stop by. We drove by the next day and peeked in to see a shorter line at opening time. The guy at the register was very nice and answered my question of the top 3 tacos - Shrimp, octopus, and steak. We tried the shrimp and the Al pastor (because I'm partial to the Al pastor flavor LOL). We also ordered the horchata which is made in-house. Wowzers! The flavors were so full and the seasonings were rich. The pastor was tender and came with just enough pineapple to complement the pastor the taco. The shrimp was a standout in not only flavor but in quantity! They packed it full of shrimp. Every bite until the end had shrimp. The standout from both tacos was the blue corn tortillas, also made in-house. The horchata was topped with cinnamon and hit the spot on switching between sweet and savory flavors. They gave me a complementary bag of chips which, again, are also made in-house! I opted for the mild salsa which was roasty with a hint of spice. Perfect for this lightweight LOL. This is my favorite place in the public market. It is also a very popular option as this place is always busy but this is a great thing. I loved my Mercado Quesadilla it was delicious. I loved the oaxaca cheese and it had plenty of cheese but everything paired perfectly with it from the vegetables to the rábanos. It also had a spicy flavor to it which was perfect because it was a very good balance. Your order is out pretty quickly because they have plenty of staff working in the kitchen. My boyfriend and I always stop to get the ceviche even if we're just drive through Santa Barbra. I wish the opened earlier but 11am is basically in the middle. I love the stand in the Public Market vs the actual restaurant on Victoria St. because of the menu also you can pick wherever to sit and eat.
