    La Corriente Taco

I was lured to Corazon Cocina based on their Michelin Bib Gourmand status and their good reviews. It's located inside the Santa Barbara Public Market and is probably the most popular stall there. You order at the counter and are given a buzzer. Prices are HIGH. A single taco starts at $5.95 for sweet potato, then goes as high as $10.95 for one taco. They make their own blue corn tortillas from scratch, so that your tacos will be on freshly griddled tortillas. Al pastor is my favorite so I had to get one of those ($6.95). This was probably the most disappointing al pastor I have ever had. It was burnt and very salty and the flavor seemed a bit off. Some of the pineapple was not ripe. I'm glad that my husband pushed me to order another taco - this one the corriente - a shrimp taco ($8.95). This was infinitely better, with perfectly cooked shrimp. If I had just ordered this taco, my review would have been higher! Maybe I came on an off day, because other reviews seem to like the al pastor. The tortillas are terrific and I would be curious to try other tacos on their menu.

Loved this place the first time I came here several years ago. Yesterday in SB visiting my son and decided to stop by and get a small bite to eat. We ordered 2 tostadas, two tacos and two drinks. $87.88 + $12 tip to the cashier. Sal de Mar tostadas were great, expensive but great. $24 each One Birria taco which I enjoyed. Tasted fine but could have used a little more beef inside. The menu's pic also shows not much beef so maybe that's all ya get. One Nortena taco, grilled skirt steak with all the toppings. This tasted like something other than beef. My son's order and he couldn't eat it. I took a bite and realized why. I count eat it and don't even think it was beef. It had an incredibly gamey taste and was honestly inedible. I would give this place 3 stars but I need to move the needle with that god horrendous taco they served us. Everything else was great! Salsa insane, Hibiscus and lemongrass delicious. We will be back just not for any skirt steak or beef for that matter.

Excellent tacos so good and fresh. The tortillas are hand made and thin super yummy! I got the slow cooked pork and shrimp tacos. Very very good.

Amazing. This is our 3rd time here and this place is the absolute best. We tried the Sal de Mar ceviche - expensive but well worth it. Mmm... the fresh tuna tartare, watermelon, guacamole and pomegranate seeds. Unbelievable and what a great combination. Also got the Tia Juana and Norteno tacos... best tortillas and filling, queaabirria - yummm. Everything is top notch and I'm so happy that we stumbled on this place in the SB public market. Who knew that this high end food is at this open food hall. It's the best.

place is popular for a reason -always has the longest line in the entire food hall. everything tasted so fresh and clean. Quality ingredients including watermelon radish and sprouts in the ceviche. It's like they picked up ingredients at the sb farmers market.will be back

Am I wary of food hall food? Yes. Am I happy to say I was wrong as this was probably my favorite meal while visiting SB? Also yes. Everything here is freshly made and you can tell! Super flavorful. My mouth is watering thinking of thee homemade tortillas alone. We got their quesabirria quesadilla, a bean and cheese burrito, el paisa burrito, and their carne asada taco (norteño) and their mole taco (mole con pollo). All of the meat was super flavorful on each item. Honestly I can't even pick my favorite because I'd eat it all again but if I had to choose their mole taco and their bean and cheese were so simple but so PERFECT. And if you can do something as hard as mole perfectly and something as easy as bean and cheese perfectly then you've really perfected your craft. Would ABSOLUTELY return. Very fast and friendly service! We got a table across from their stall. Plenty of spaces all around. We walked here so can't comment on parking. It's not far from state street!

This restaurant is in a cute little food hall with a few great looking eateries. The bad, the pastor tacos need some love and more seasoning. The good, where do I start? Handmade tortillas, beautiful fusion of flavors and perfectly cooked shrimp. The queso fundido with chorizo is a must try, it had gooey, crispy deliciousness in every bite. The corriente taco was kissed by the sea and the campechana quesadilla was small but mighty with plenty of meat. Service was quick counter style ordering and good suggestions on what to try. We had an horchata and a lemon-ginger-chia water as well. If you're in Santa Barbara give this place a try but perhaps try something other than the pastor. PS if you need a Modelo or mezcal to compliment your meal there is a bar next door.

Yummy fresh fish. The Colima ceviche comes with pomegranate and watermelon which gives it interesting texture and really light fruity notes. The tuna tostada is also yummy and comes with avocado and radishes. Note that this is at the Santa Barbara public market food court so you order at the counter before eating

I was curious to try this place but it felt like a tourist trap and was a letdown. I got the Al pastor and norte/steak taco, and they were very average. It's at the city's Public Market, which is a food hall, so service was pretty quick and ambiance was casual!

Delicious spot in the Santa Barbara public market. So many delicious options, too many to choose. Tried out the birria and mole tacos which were both delicious. The nachos were delicious, some of the best I've ever had. Ordered at the counter, notified with a buzzer the food was ready. Seating was first come first serve. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Situated in a bustling food court, fun and lively atmosphere.

    Their sign and Michelin acknowledgement.

Delicious Mexican food. I had the shrimp quesadilla which was very filling. Actually, their tacos are the same size, same size tortillas. My friends order the Birria tacos and the short rib taco. Everyone was pleased with their choice. We also had a side of plantains, which were sweet and tasty. We had a side of guacamole, which is not very large. Fresh cooked chips. Would definitely go back to try more options. There is a water station in the SB Public Market, which I was happy to discover.

Tourist trap, wouldn't come back ... Location/Parking: located in a food hall with a bunch of other places to eat. I think there is a parking lot, but I ended up doing street parking about a three minute walk away since I couldn't find parking nearby. Service: workers were nice and friendly! Vibes: loud and busy since there are so many other establishments nearby. There are a lot of seats, so that shouldn't be too big of an issue. Food: I ordered the Sayulita Ceviche and my boyfriend got the El Cali burrito, but neither of us were impressed with our food. The ceviche was incredibly spicy (not surprised because of the habanero), but that was the only big flavor that I tasted. There wasn't enough acidity or freshness to the dish that I expect from ceviche. It was just very bland/spicy... The burrito was decent enough, but not for the price that we paid.

Colima Ceviche. Small Guacamole. Topo Chico. Margarita.

Wow. The food is exceptional. Everything is so flavorful including the salsas. My family and I loved everything we tried. The food came out fairly quickly considering how much we ordered. The service was great. We got the ceviche, tacos de carnitas, tia Juana, al pastor, and sweet potato.

    Yes

Are they open during covid -19 ? Can I walk in or do I call and they will take it to my car ? Or I pick up?

Yes, they are now open for dine-in, and you can still order or call in for take out. Not sure if they're still doing curbside pick-up.

The pulpo was perfectly cooked--tender with a great char and packed with flavor. The chicken mole was rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying, with that classic complex mole flavor that keeps you going back for another bite. What really stood out, though, was the service. It was phenomenal from start to finish--attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed. The staff clearly care about the experience they're giving guests. That said, the service experience really brought things down. We arrived at 3:00 for our reservation but weren't seated until 3:20. Once we were seated, it took a while to get settled -- some guests in our own party were slow to get moving and had clearly had a lot to drink, so there was a strong smell of alcohol at our table for a bit, which added to the chaos of getting everyone situated. On top of that, the staff seemed overwhelmed the whole time. There was a fiesta event going on, so the whole restaurant was using plastic cups instead of glassware, which felt a little unfestive for a place at this price point. The music was also very loud, which made it even harder to flag anyone down for service. Despite it being clear the staff were short-staffed and stretched thin, no one offered any acknowledgment, apology, or gesture of care for the wait or the overall experience. The food quality (minus the steak) makes me want to come back, but the service needs real improvement, especially during busy events. The steak in particular didn't match its price -- it tasted more like a $35 steak than what we were charged.

We had such a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Even though the restaurant was busy, the atmosphere felt intimate and romantic. We ordered two tapas, two cocktails, and the paella, and we were completely stuffed! We ended up taking quite a bit of the paella home, and thankfully, it was just as delicious reheated the next day. We actually wanted to come back again the following night, but decided to save it for another special celebration when we visit Santa Barbara again. One of the sweetest touches was that they gave us a postcard with a handwritten message- it was such a thoughtful little detail that made the experience feel even more special. While we were waiting for our order, another customer walked up to ask her a question, and she continued staring down at her phone and completely ignored her. The woman actually had to say, "Excuse me?" just to get her attention. I completely understand wanting to wrap things up at the end of a shift, but if a business is still open, customers shouldn't be made to feel unwelcome for coming in during posted business hours.
