Stopped by Corban's Too New Orleans Restaurant for a late lunch. Walked in around 1pm and my order was immediately taken. I ordered the 6" shrimp poboy minus mayo and got the gumbo instead of fries. I also ordered the Cajun rolls since so many folks have posted about them. Service at the counter was swift. I was dining in and my food came out within 20 minutes. Wasn't a long wait time to me. I enjoyed my shrimp poboy. I got cocktail sauce to go on it, which made it that much better to me. Plenty of shrimp but I didn't notice until I was almost done that all I got was tomatoes on it. No lettuce at all. All I asked them to hold was the mayo. The crawfish rolls were a meal by themselves. I enjoyed them a lot, especially once they brought me the accompanying remoulade sauce. The gumbo was good but I was full and decided to save it for later. I only had a spoonful of it but it seemed good. Atmosphere was a little shaky. A group of kids came in while I was waiting on my food. They ended up sitting at the table next to me and were a little rambunctious. I wouldn't have minded them too much except the little boy kept playing with his slinky and throwing it in my direction. This made me uncomfortable, especially since they seemed to be the owner's kids and no one told them to stop. I should have moved to another table but felt I shouldn't have to. Hands down the best New Orleans style food in Jackson. I got the crawfish egg rolls, shrimp po boy, and gumbo and all of it was delicious. Plus the owner was very friendly. My friend and I stopped into Corbans for a late lunch before going to the airport. We found this restaurant in yelp and it had great reviews so we decided to try it for ourselves. We were greeted by the owner and he showed us southern hospitality as if we were a part of his family. Likewise, his wife was so friendly and she told us the meaning of the name behind Corbans. It's to raise awareness for Down syndrome. I love everything the restaurant represented! As for the food, we got shrimp po boys with a side of gumbo. It was delicious! We waited a bit but the food but it was fresh and hot to order. I highly recommend getting the 6 inch po boy plus the side of gumbo. It was $11.99 each for a lot of food. If you're from out of town and want good southern creole home cooking. Go here! You won't regret it. read more

I had a doc appointment downtown and was looking for a. New place for lunch and found this place on Yelp. It is small and easy to miss but the food is good. It is all made to order and takes some time but not that much to get ready. I had the catfish Étouffée. It was really good. A bit too much white rice for my taste. The catfish was great. One of a kind. Shawn and her family were so welcoming and made me feel at home. The Shrimp Po'Boy was absolutely incredible. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. They let me try the Gumbo which was equally excellent. Finally she let me try the bread pudding which was warm, gooey, and delicious. The food was served very quickly even though it's all made fresh. Convenient parking right outside. Loved the different NOLA signs inside. You have to walk up to the counter to place your order. Our order was immediately taken. 2 things we wanted they didn't have- the cheese balls nor the roast beef. However, we were able to get rice and beans which weren't on the menu. The food takes awhile to prepare but it is made fresh. When the food arrived, it was perfectly hot. The gumbo was okay- could have been seasoned more. The Philly cheesesteak was hands down the best thing we had- perfectly seasoned and quality was great. The hot sausage sandwich was missing something- not enough spice. The rice and beans were bland. The fried green tomatoes were incredible- super fresh with great quality tomatoes. The peach cobbler egg rolls were incredible- must try. If you happen to be passing through Mississippi you absolutely MUST stop at Corbin's New Orleans Cafe! I found this restaurant when searching on Yelp for food on our cross country road trip. Let me say, the reviews were good but they didn't do the place justice. It was INCREDIBLE! Hands down the best PO Boy my boyfriend or I have ever had (he got shrimp and I had the oyster). The staff was very nice too. While we were waiting some man came to counter yelling about how his French fries were not coming out fast enough. The owner or manager came out and apologized for the wait because things are cooked from scratch and he ordered fries topped with home made gravy plus other toppings. She even offered to give his money back. He stomped off acting like a toddler having a tantrum, but the manager/owner could not have been more polite or done anything to make it up. Then she went from table to table to apologize to each guest for having to hear that man yell. No complaints from me. If I am every anywhere near again, you can bet I'll be back!! read more

Y'all !!!! This place right here is the real deal New Orleans style food. I was disappointed when I finished my gumbo and realized I wasn't on bourbon street. I just so happened to meet a big group of the owners family and they treated me like family while we waited for food! We shared some laughs and they even offered some of their food while I waited on mine. My son even ram around and played hide and go seek while we waited. Felt like we were at a family lunch ! My son didn't even want to leave when we got our food ! My son had the chicken strips and they were so fresh ! I will definitely be back to try more of their menu ! We stopped by based on reviews...so glad we did! The staff were very friendly. The owner came out and chatted with us and treated us to a Cajun roll while we waited. Everything was made to order so hot and fresh. The Cajun roll was great. We ordered a shrimp po' boy. Shrimp were huge and sandwich was great. Came with fries that were excellent. I'm no it an expert, but, I thought the gumbo was good. I also had the shrimp poboy and the seasoning was good and size of shrimp were medium to large maybe. There is a wait, but the food comes out hot, most of the time. The last time o was there, I think they forgot about my order somehow because we had to ask about it and they brought it out pretty quickly after everyone in my party had eaten. read more

Absolutely awesome food and a wonderful family! Owners were out visiting with their customers telling everyone how much they appreciated their business, even though they were busy. We had the Cajun rolls, shrimp plate and an oyster po boy. All of the food was served piping hot and fresh. Everything is cooked fresh to order so plan on a little wait, but it is oh so worth it! We had designs on the bread pudding but just didn't have room for it. Their location is small right now but they have plans to address that. We are HURT & VERY DISAPPOINTED in this restaurant! They let my family down, BIG TIME! I was trying to support this start up restaurant with an opportunity to cater a wedding reception event. In many weeks of planning and multiple discussions with the owners of Corban's New Orleans Cafe, we were left with NO Caterer. We made a follow up call five (5) days before the wedding reception date to firm up / finalize catering arrangements. Only to hear they were not going to cater the event. We were SHOCKED! Devastated by the news! We have a previous verbal agreement with the owners for the food decisions made and the date set and other related serving /catering matters. Do NOT TRUST this restaurant to provide catering business for your event! We WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN! Of course, we had to take our business to cater our wedding reception for 100 people to another more reliable vendor that served up a delicious meal on very short notice. read more

This is a review for Corbans New Orleans cafe and Snoball restaurant. It's new in Richland. I've been really excited about trying it. I finally got the chance and was extremely happy. I've had poboys from all over the south and this place makes one heck of a good shrimp poboy. It's got the authentic NOLA style bread and is dressed with the works and has plenty of large shrimp. I would say this poboy is in my top 3 all time best. I am a poboy snob and Corbans passes my test with flying colors. The also have NOLA style SnoBalls which are awesome. They have NECTAR flavored ones as well. No one around here has carried Nectar flavoring. Something I've only been able to get in South La or down on the coast. I also tried their bread pudding with rum sauce and MAN was it the real deal. Can't wait to try other things from here. They are located down 49 south a little passed Cleary road turn off on the right hand side. The place was busy when I went there. I pray they stay busy and stay with us for years and years.
