All I knew was I wanted to feel normal again. I went to physical therapy twice a week for three weeks. Joanne was my primary physical therapist with Rachel helping me as well. Each physical therapy session started with heat, then a massage followed by neck stretches and eventually resistance bands to help build strength. I was also shown some neck stretches I could do at home. After three weeks I'm not back to 100%, but I am 90% better. I was super reluctant to do PT, which is why it took me soooooo long to get in---but hindsight is 20/20 and I'm so glad I did. It has been several weeks of therapy, my pain has significantly decreased and my mobility improved. Aside from exercises, I also had Astym, Dry needling (which I am a firm believer in and experienced improvement less than 24 hours after treatment), stretching and other deep muscle techniques (ya know, the stuff that hurts but feels good?). It really was a holistic approach to my care, which I appreciate. I gained a lot of knowledge and tools that will help me continue to be active and healthy.
