Stay away!! I worked with Brian about 6 years ago on a project to re-sod my front yard and clear away old shrubs. Work product was great so I hired him in September 2018 to build a retaining wall and add drainage to the backyard. Well, it took a while to get going and he got the project about 3/4 the way done - in the process he cut my cable and phone lines and did not bury the lines (they are still exposed along the wall). When I asked him to finish the wall off and complete the drainage he dragged me on. I told him I assumed he was done (still owed him some $ which I offered to pay upon completion). After he threatened to sue me and file a lien on my house, I paid him to complete the work that was originally contracted for - this took about 4-6 weeks to work thru his nasty and threatening emails to me (he even copied his lawyer on a few). In April 2019 I texted him about some warranty issues - the sod he rode over to access the yard didn't recover, the utility lines are showing on the surface and not burred and the drainage output is clogging. After 3 texts and 3 emails he said he'd "be by Saturday" in early May. He never came by and never followed up and never contacted me to address the warranty issues. Although the wall looks good, the workmanship of the rest of the project is very poor and disappointing (I had to ask him to pull big chunks of rock out of my lawn from the drainage excavation after he said the work was "done" - ridiculous!). It was a really good sell job by him but he failed to deliver everything he promised on the retaining wall project and does NOT stand behind his warranty. read more

Beware! Half ass work with no response on requested repairs to the job that was not done correctly. Really, really poor craftsmanship. He also keeps putting you off telling you next week, then the next week and finally just stops responding. read more

We have had a great experience with Brian/Corescapes. He laid sod to match half of the front yard and it still looks great after over a year. Because of that success, we had him do some transplanting of our shrubs and level and plant fescue in the backyard. He was on time and budget and the grass looks great. He even came back and re-seeded this fall at no charge. I would definitely recommend for this type of work. read more

I have seen this companies work a few years after completion. What a joke! All the mortar joints are cracked up to .5 inch. Stones just lift off. Worst hardscape job I ever seen and guess what? This was all at brians own house. Run very far and hide your $. Want to get ripped off every time? Try working at his home. I never got paid all $. I knew when I bid the job we might have issues. I even told my crew this one isn't going to pay all that is owed. Nailed it on head, contractors run far from this family, his wife is exactly the same. Makes me think they are gypsy types. Stay AWAY! If you are only getting sod then it might be alright but if anything goes wrong with your project you will not hear from Brian at all. I heard warnings from other people on other boards and like previous person said he warned me that some people might complain but not to listen. Well, you should listen and stay away. We were presented with a great design, however, nothing worked out. Stone work fell apart a few months after completion. Plantings died within months because the ones suggested were not appropriate for our exposure. Not responsive. Cannot recommend. read more

BEWARE!!!!! I used Brian/Corescapes for a $10K+ backyard project. He overcharged me, broke my sprinklers, broke my cable/internet, failed to finish the project, and then stopped returning my calls. TERRIBLE! Toward the end of my project, Brian asked me to pay the invoice, which he quickly showed me on his ipad. He promised to come the following work day and finish up the last few things. He also promised to come in a few weeks and roll the yard where his bobcat made trenches and come to reseed in the spring. I took him at his word and paid the invoice. Well... he never came back. And he has stopped returning my calls. I have called/texted/emailed over a dozen times, and NOTHING from him. After he left, I realized that he had overcharged me and had also broken two sprinkler heads (which we had specifically asked him to avoid). I also discovered that he had been burning all of the wooden pallets that were used during the project in our (new) firepit and had failed to remove the nails, so there were literally hundreds of nails in the firepit! In addition, since he was last here, I have continually been having cable and internet outages. He apparently severed a cable during the project, and he told me he had fixed it, but it has never worked the same. Big problem for me because I work from home! Also, once our grass sprouted, we can clearly see that the area where his bobcat made trenches (which he never rolled) because no grass had grown in those trenches. It looks totally unprofessional. I obviously don't expect that he will honor his promise to reseed in the spring. This was all SO DISAPPOINTING!!! Not at all what I expected from Brian, particularly given the price tag. I plan to file in small claims court to recover all the cost to fix these things/complete the project. Save yourself the trouble. My advice: FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!!! read more

DO NOT USE. WARNING !! Brian comes out and is cordial and accommodating. He expressed to me, during our initial conversation, that some customers are annoying because they call him all the time to check on things. This should have been a warning. A couple of areas never took and died and we asked him to replace them. It was near impossible to get a hold of him. They did come out and replace one patch but not the other. We repeatedly send him emails and left voice mail, which he never returned. My husband finally got him on the phone and he said he would be out in one or two weeks. That was in July, it is now the end of October. I have sent additional emails that he never responds to. Terrbile, terrible business man. Shame on him. read more

Horrible. Just horrible. Brian has a year guarantee on his plants, but when my plants died in less than a year ... guess what? After bi-weekly calls, emails, sending pictures, over the course of 7 months I still have not received any replacements. CoreScapes owes me over $500 in replacement plants that I will never get back. I would go with a more reputable company and stay far, far away from CoreScapes. read more

WARNING!!!!! I met Brian last October when he installed the irrigation in my front yard. After that was completed and I had a horrible experience with the guys who put down the sod Brian assured me that he had only done one job with those guys and that he could complete all of our landscaping needs in a timely, efficient and professional manner which was FAR FROM THE TRUTH!!! He didn't complete what he said he would and kept saying wait til Spring and I will come back. After the 1st of March and I realized all 9 Gardenia's were dead, the elephant ears never bloomed and other plants had not been planted. After multiple text messages he finally responds by telling me I'm "Being Ridiculous" which is very offensive considering the money I paid and I only asked him to come replace what is dead. Now that he chooses to do nothing at this point I am now forced to warn anyone and everyone out there that may entertain the idea of using Brian Hitchuk at Corescapes. read more

We had a great experience with Brian/Corescapes recently. My colleague recommended Brian to us for our landscaping needs. We were at first hesitant to use him for our landscaping needs after reading these reviews, but we went ahead with his proposal because he was the most creative & had the most vision for our yard. We had over 6 people come to look at our backyard to quote out the work we thought we wanted done. We had an uneven yard with a hill on one side and a valley on the other. We thought we wanted a retaining wall to hold back the hill (and make it look prettier) and some regrading in an area to install a playground. Every other landscaper we had over quoted the work we asked for, except Brian. He told us we could regrade the entire yard to give us a level yard... at first we thought he was crazy. Turns out, he wasn't! He completely transformed our yard into a great space that we will enjoy for many years to come. He had great ideas for future projects (front walkway, back patio) and will continue to use him in the future to transform other areas of our exterior as we save up money. Brian even came by a few times after the project was completed after we texted him because we found some guys had left some debris behind. He was incredibly responsive and I have no doubt that if we have problems in the future he'll be there for us as well. We really loved working with Brian and recommend him to our closest family & friends. We feel very lucky to have been referred to Brian, we wouldn't have had such a wonderful yard if we had gone with any other landscaper! read more
