Low/high top, booth, and outdoor seating. Full bar. The atmosphere is low light with wood finishings and ornate lighting--limited parking in the back. Good service. 3.95 % credit card fee. If you can get over the smell as you walk into the restaurant, then give this place a try. The staff is nice and the food is good. I checked out the bathroom for kicks since it's right by the entrance, but I will definitely wait till I get home. It is not ADA compliant, and it's...well, small and dark. Maybe if I were enjoying beers and cocktails with a bunch of friends, I may not notice, but be prepared. The dining room is split -- the bar area and tables covered with tablecloths/paper -- like an Italian restaurant. They have some widescreen TVs and the music is not too loud, which allows for nice conversation. This restaurant is not in the best neighborhood, so don't leave valuables in your vehicle. The patrons appear to be regulars and comfortable, kinda like "Cheers." Norm! I ordered the French Dip and my husband ordered the Reuben, our go-to sandwiches. The portions are big! My husband really liked his Reuben. He liked my French Dip as well, especially because the bread was so soft. The fries reminded us of the old days...eating Ore-Ida fries with home-cooked meals. Second time here and happened to stop in during the weekend brunch hours. It was a limited menu but it all sounded great. We got the wet breakfast burrito and burger. Wet burrito has beans, eggs, potatoes, chorizo, topped with mole sauce and pico, avocado. The best burrito I ever had!!! The burger was also delicious with two huge patties and egg on top. This is a really hard review for me. Our server was great! When I joked that my boyfriend would need multiple refills on his pop, she brought back a huge beer mug filled with coke. Very clever! You can tell this is a local hangout. The place was very loud and everyone knew each other. At times, groups got too close to our table or there was yelling across the room. This place is a Lansing institution. It's on the corner of Cedar and Baker, with the latter typically considered one of the worst streets in Lansing. But, in all my years going there, I don't ever remember anybody going to Corey's and having issues. Their food is well-made and tastes great... whether you want a quick burger or a prime rib dinner. The servers are friendly with good banter, and the owner is usually there making his presence known and talking to customers. When you go into the bar, it looks dark because there's no windows, but don't let that dissuade you from enjoying one of the hidden gems in Lansing. read more

People LOVE this place. I'll admit it's good for what it is- a classic American restaurant. I tend to end up here for work events because my office can't get enough of Corey's. The staff is always friendly and drinks and food a quick despite our group's size. I just don't get the love of the food. It's fine. You can get sour cream to dip your breadsticks in. I get the appeal. It's just nothing special. I'd give them a 3.5 rating if I could but I'm rounding down due to their absolutely freezing bathroom in the winter. read more

Order the homemade bread sticks -- they're a MUST! I've only eaten here once, but the food was excellent and so was the service. There's a full bar and room to sit by it, but there are also a ton of tables and booths. My friend frequents Corey's once every week or two because it's a nice, quiet place to have a full meal or a quick drink, as opposed to the busier (and usually smokier) bars that surround the Capitol building. read more

I've patronized Corey's a few times and neglected to review them. Went there on Saturday with my Grandson (I still can't believe my GRANDson is 22) to drink a few brewskis and watch THE Michigan State University versus ohio football game. My Grandson had the half pound Burger with fries and I had a bowl of Chili (I really like their Chili) and a Club Sandwich. So much food I had to have a take-out box, something I rarely do. Good food. Nice cold beers (Plus...they have Miller High Life which is hard to find these days in a bar). The service was superb on a very busy Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, MSU lost the game. We sat on the patio, which was very lovely on a summer evening. Service was prompt, which we appreciated because we were the only ones on the patio and thus could have easily been forgotten. Prices were fair. We ordered the Mediterranean salad (on the waitress's recommendation), the fired perch, and the French dip. The salad was mediocre at best (iceberg lettuce with under-ripe tomatoes and an uninspired dressing). While the perch and the French dip were good, we were still not sure what all of the fuss is about. In the future, we will pop into the bar for a drink, but pass on dinner. read more

Seriously the BEST French dip in town!!! I try them everywhere and you can't beat the one at Corey's. tender meat, soft but hefty bun, cheesy and a bowl of au jus!!! Most places give you a small cup to dip....not here, there's actually plenty left over. It includes a huge portion of fries, crispy on the outside & almost mashed potato like on the inside. And try their breadsticks with sour cream to dip! SUPER good. They look dry & bland but taste great. And again, it's a very large order of breadsticks. Crazy old school place! We have driven by three times and it was always packed and we thought it was some kind of gangsta italian place. Turns out it is a just plain great dive bar style establishment. The breadsticks are the best I've ever had!!!! Ever!!!!! I'm 53 and I've never had better ones!! You could slice them in half and make a sandwich out of them! I think they weigh about 8 oz each! As in reviews before it is truly an era bygone, but it is so much fun to go back in time! I became a fan when some friends brought me into Coreys before a football game. The atmosphere was so warm and cozy. It seemed that everyone knew eachother and even being a newbie to the place, I felt right at home. The staff was very friendly and had recommendations for me knowing it was my first time in. The breadsticks were amazing! I also had the Lebanese salad. I had never heard of anything like it and I was amazed at the flavor. Very tasty. We all shared a pizza and it was done to perfection, crispy and loaded with lots of cheese!!! I have been back a couple of times since then to grab a drink and also had a big group in their back room for a party. Old school, family owned Lansing institution with strong drinks and surprisingly good food and excellent service. Recent upgrades to the building have opened it up and made it much more inviting - plus they now have outdoor seating in the summer. The chicken quesadilla appetizer is a meal in and of itself and is terrific. Daily specials are usually worth a try as well. Good place for a weekday lunch or to meet friends for happy hour. Lots of regulars but everyone is welcome and it is always fun to see friends run into each other here. read more

I tried this place on a total whim. I was happy I did. It was slightly intimidating to enter but the staff was super friendly. I ordered a couple of beers and their cod sandwich. The sandwich was OK. I don't eat meat but I hear the the burgers are fantastic. I will certainly go back for pizza because that looked really good too. LOVED IT! After a mad scramble to find a new venue when our party size grew and Stillwater Okemos could no longer accommodate us, we ended up with a reservation at Corey's. We were hesitant...the reviews were clear that the food was great, but the neighborhood/ambiance - not so much. Still, without much choice - we booked at Corey's and we were totally pleased with the experience. They gave us a table in a side room which was much brighter than the dimly lit bar/grill side...the table was tidily covered with white paper (for drawing) and nicely set. The service was VERY SNAPPY and the food was wonderful. As the other reviews indicate - the breadsticks melt in your mouth and just the breadsticks alone would warrant a trip to Corey's. They are fabulous - I think the best I've ever had. The salads were crisp and delicious, the prime rib was wonderful and tender (and came at the specified wellness request - which doesn't always happen), the halibut was superb, sandwiches were ample and delicious! Do not hesitate to try this place - it is worth dealing with the minor nuisances of the location and décor (and even those weren't THAT bad). We'll be back for sure! read more
