Black garlic schiacciata: this is a thick herb and cheese bread that is served with the house pizza sauce. The crisp on the outside is lovely as are the cheesy bits. This is a very generous appetizer: It would serve four easily. The bread itself is much lighter than it looks. The sauce is sublime, and I am pleased that it was served chilled rather than warmed. The showcase pizza: Plain, simple, let the crusted sauce shine tomato pie with their yellow and red House sauces and fresh Parm. This pie does indeed highlight the lovely crust. This is an excellent pizza: the cheese is sparse by intention, and it works. Finish it with the smoked sea salt and House made Italian chili crisp that they serve with every pizza. read more

We stopped here before a show at the Peterson Event Center. It was super busy, but we managed to get a bar seat. We did try to get a reservation earlier, but they were booked. For dinner we had the Holy Shiitake pizza which was delicious. They make their pizza with a cornmeal crust which was tasty. The food came out really fast. The cocktails were good. I was surprised at the lack of local craft beer selections. The bartenders seemed new. They were looking up the cocktails and it took a long time to get our drinks. I probably would have ordered more if I had the opportunity. Overall, the service staff was very nice, but seemed inexperienced. I thought this was a good stop, but it was pretty expensive for what it is. I may not prioritize this place again over other options. read more

Outstanding!! I'm already thinking about a return trip. Fun, eclectic vibe and excellent service start to finish. The food: Brussel sprouts were delightful. Good char with fantastic hot honey! The Panzanella salad was divine. I loved the mixture of beans, bread, and sun-dried tomatoes. The vodka pizza was legendary. The crust was so crispy and the sauce was packed with flavor. This is located on the ground floor of the Oaklander hotel and there's a bar along with a good number of tables, booths, and high tops. We family styled a few dishes and desserts and, of course, had to have some drinks! They have an extensive cocktail and spirit menu. I did enjoy our meal and our server, Dom, was absolutely lovely. While the food is pretty good overall and really good for hotel food, it is on the pricey side for what it is. The bill for the four of us was just shy of $400 so I would take this into consideration before dining here. read more

I saw this place on Tiktok and had to stop by, and I'm so glad I did! It is in the Oaklander hotel, which is stunning in itself, and the restaurant is so well decorated. From the lighting to the bar decor, everything was so well thought out! Our waitress gave us many recommendations, but we went with the brussels sprouts, farm to fire pizza (weekly rotating options) and the truffle pig. All were great, but the current farm to table with pears and chevre was so flavorful! The homemade hot sauce deserves its own shoutout because it was perfection, we even asked if they sold it separately (unfortunately no). We were waiting a little before someone came to our table, but the girl who came apologized ended up being our server and was so sweet! I wish I could've remembered her name. Her service and attitude made the experience great. We didn't order pizza but we split an appetizer, salad, and the chicken Milanese. All were so good! The Baby Gem Salad was my favorite. My boyfriend & I were able to get reservations for a Friday night. It's in the bottom of the Oaklander Hotel so we used the parking garage right across the street. The vibes are super cute and low lighting, great for date nights! We got the tuna crudo and vodka pizza where we added pepperoni. We also got sides of ranch & hot honey. The ranch was really good & the hot honey had jalapeño in it! The tuna crudo was really good. However, the pizza wasn't that impressive - the crust was lacking flavor and was hard on the bottom so it was ripping up the roof of my mouth, there was barely any sauce on it, & the pesto was thick and flavorless. Overall, it's probably the nicest pizza date spot in the area and I would go there over some other places, but in comparison to similar upscale pizza places in Pittsburgh, this wasn't our #1 choice. read more

Fantastic food in this new restaurant offered by former Nemacolin chef Kristen Butterworth. I had the short rib with potatoes and heirloom carrots. It came out with a cover over it with smoke under the cover. So tender and the sauce was amazing! Great presentation! My wife had the rigatoni which is from the chef's grandmother's recipe. It was so good we ordered an extra meal to take home. Our server offered us the opportunity to have grilled bread which was a perfect addition to our meal. Be sure to ask for it. The limoncello ladyfinger dessert was delightful. We enjoyed a very comfortable booth. Creative cocktails. Lots of people around us were ordering delicious looking pizzas. The only "head scratcher" was a starter: the schiacciata bread with house pizza sauce to dip. The bread was not a flatbread; It was cold. Looked like a panettone loaf of holiday bread. Not the flatbread typically seen associated with schiacciata. Even more puzzling, the dipping sauce: it came out ice cold. I sent it back to request it be warmed up. We unsuccessfully tried for a last-minute reservation on a Saturday evening, so we decided to see if we could snag seats at the bar. The strategy worked -- even though the restaurant was quite crowded, the bar was only 50% full. The atmosphere is simple, clean, and modern, yet with the lighting, its still very warm. One of the bartenders greeted us promptly, and another arrived shortly after to deliver waters and take our drink order. She took plenty of time to tell us about the specials and help us to decide which pizzas to order. The wine selection was very good -- we went a basic route since we were planning to order pizza, but the wine list has some more eclectic choices as well. I was pleased to find Mer Soleil Chardonnay as a choice since you can't seem to find it at the state store. We decided on ordering pizza in advance given that the name implies that's their specialty; however, I would definitely consider the other entrees based on what I saw being delivered from the kitchen! We ended up with a Truffle Pig (white sauce, black truffle, red onion, garlic, arugula, Italian sausage) and a build-your-own (sausage, mild pepperoni, wild mushroom, chunky sauce). The wait time was very reasonable (20 min?), and the finished product was one of the best pizzas we've ever had (perfect crust, quality ingredients) -- and we've had a lot of pizzas across the country. Full disclosure, the Truffle Pig pizza is an additional $10, but it is 100% worth it. Great service, fantastic food, and a lovely space -- you won't be disappointed! read more

My girlfriends and I stopped in over the weekend just to grab a bite to eat before heading out. Little did we know that we would have such a wonderful time. Our server Laura did a wonderful job explaining the menu in detail and guided us along to get all the right cocktails, wine and food. We started with cocktails and she said the best bartender was there that night, and it sure made a difference. When dinner arrived we especially enjoyed the feature that she suggested, which was a braised short rib ravioli. We were torn between that and the rigatoni and Laura leaned towards the ravioli and it was a the right choice for us!! The presentation of the ravioli was so cute, it came out in a can to mock a can of "chef Boyardee" - it was really fun. With that Laura suggested a glass of the conundrum, which paired really well with the vodka sauce. For dessert, Laura suggested the cork and crust sundae, with a red wine reduction sauce, cherries and chocolate it was the perfect amount for us each to have a few bites. Acceptable? Maybe. Worthy of the hype? Absolutely not. My vodka pizza arrived ready for takeout - cardboard crust, bland, thin, no chew, no bite, immediately unpleasant. Who needs a box? Even turnpike Sbarro's don't get it this fundamentally wrong. We were expecting a Chef's Table experience (Netflix) - a highly acclaimed chef's new pizza restaurant in the heart of a pizza city, on the ground floor of a beautiful hotel. What we got was marketing that gets you in the door and food that turns you away. The cheese had no pull - hard and crunchy. Everything pizza should be was gone from the first bite. We also ordered the Truffle Pig pizza: same paper-plate crust, just try-hard toppings piled on top of nothing. The sauces? Barely there. The effect felt more like flatbread than pizza. There were 3 small slivers of delicata squash and just a few pieces of arugula. Pizza was pretty good but the pastas and entrees are way overpriced for what you get. $30 dollars for a bowl of their "drunken rigatoni" which is basically rigatoni alla vodka is ridiculous!! Cocktails are $20 and they use average spirits making do an average cocktail. I was recently at the 925 Bar in Sharpsburg and their cocktails are exciting and well thought out and they only charge between $9-$11 for an excellent drink. The chicken Milanese was pretty good but also quite small for $37 dollars. The best chicken dish I've ever had is at Bouchon in Napa. The world famous chef Thomas Keller charges $42 for his mind blowing chicken dish and it is a very substantial entree. Lemon tiramisu was the best thing we ate all night, but of course it was $17 dollars!! Seriously $17? For a dessert? Sorry but there is just no value here. read more

Had an early dinner here while visiting the area. Everything was delicious. The Brussel sprouts appetizer is fantastic. We loved everything we ate including the yinzer ravioli, the drunken rigatoni and the gnocchi. We also enjoyed the pepperoni pizza and I don't like pepperoni or pizza!
