Service was terrible. Hard to believe this place receives anything above 3 stars. Our party of two was ignored practically our entire dining period. We had a reservation at 7:15 pm and were promptly seated, and everything from a service and attention perspective went downhill from there. Failure on every front - from our server, to the general manager, to the timeliness of the bar service. I will say, the food was outstanding. However, the abject lack of finely attention and basic service (15 minutes after being seated and served menus until we were asked to order drinks, and over 15 minutes after we were done waiting for our bill) doesn't even lift this review up by one star. I went with a friend for dinner. We decided to share everything we ordered because we both hadn't been before. I always like to ask the waiter/waitress what their favorite thing on menu is. We were recommended the rigatoni and porchetta. For apps we got the meats and broccolini. Personally I would skip the broccolini it was kinda cold when it came out and I did not like the goat cheese with it. I would also recommend the rigatoni is was good!! Stayed in the area and came here a few times. I sat at the bar both times and service was nice and friendly. The place is easily accessible from many hotels in the downtown area. Stopped back here a few times recently and have had great experiences. They have definitely made some changes over the years and the menu and food is really good now. Most recently I had the meatballs and calamari appetizers. I had then pappardelle as my main meal. Everything was delicious. So much flavor in the pasta especially. This is also a really good spot for if you have a big group. We have had office get together, lunches, and dinners in their different rooms. Really nice Italian restaurant in Downtown Pittsburgh. The staff was super friendly and when we arrived without a reservation, they put us at the Chef's counter where we were able to watch dishes being served by their talented cooking crew. I had the lasagna dinner, their weekly Tuesday night special while my wife had the seafood fettuccine dish. Another delicious Italian restaurant! I love when a place is delicious from the first bite. Chic, cozy interior on a busy night. We started with meatballs, focaccia, and burrata. The focaccia was airy and had a nice touch of rosemary. Meatballs were excellent, and the sauce was fantastic. I love when you can taste certain flavors, and both were packed with goodness. Meatballs had a nice sausage flavor to them. My chicken had a Calabrian chili sauce, and it was the exact right amount of heat. Cooked to perfection, as the whole chicken was so tender. The cornbread mash the so delicious. It soaked up the sauce and offered a nice sweetness to the meal. This dish was fantastic!! We made reservations for a Friday night and were seated right away, while most tables were filled when we arrived. The server came over immediately and continued to check on us through out the meal. You have to start with the focaccia; it's amazing! We got it with the oil and balsamic dipping oils. For the main course, I had the rigatoni, which was served piping hot. I enjoyed the vodka sauce, but it had a bit of spiciness to it. We were celebrating my birthday, and they surprised us with a complimentary tiramisu (with a cannoli on top). I didn't love the gnocchi dish I ordered, but it was something different and was good just I've had more impressive pasta in Pittsburgh. However, the cauliflower dip with the focaccia??? Incredible. Talia has such a spot in my heart. I have so many good memories starting from when I only ever went for after-work drinks. I think I went to Talia at least once a week for six months straight without ever having food haha (I was totally missing out). They are located right across the street from Hotel Monaco downtown. Parking is easy in the Mellon Square Garage right across 6th Street. They have amazing cocktails but my all time favorite is their prosecco on tap - I think about it all of the time lol. My partner loves their White Negroni and a friend has commented that they make the best Old Fashioned of all time. The food is simply amazing. It's always consistent and always so good. I've had dishes from soup and salad, to lunch sandwiches, to pasta and more. Just last night, I tried the crab cakes for the first time and they were some of the best I've had in the city. I'll ALWAYS recommend their house baked focaccia with the burrata. The bread is so light, airy and flavorful. Burrata is, well, it's burrata, how could it ever be bad?! The ricotta gnocchi is pillowy soft and fluffy. Their pizzas are also amazing, especially the duck. The wait staff, bartending staff and management are always so friendly and accomodating. In fact, we love Talia so much that my partner and I are having our wedding dinner there in 2024. We went for dinner last night because it was one year out from the wedding and the GM must've noticed my name on the reservation list and brought us over Prosecco! I don't know if they were just really busy, but it was very hard to get their attention (at the bar) throughout our meal. I really enjoyed my bro-groni - bourbon, meletti, and Campari. It was a bit tart, a bit sweet, and very refreshing. We had the house made focaccia and burrata, which was just fantastic. My salad - bacon, beets, and goat cheese - was adequate but not terribly exciting. I kind of wish that I had gotten the wedge. It looked pretty awesome. For my main, I got the pappardelle with veal cheek ragu. The tomato sauce was really fresh and the pasta had the perfect bite/chew. So good. The food was mediocre and my wine was terrible, it tasted like it was water down. Every drink that was order from the bar was poorly made. This was my first time here and it was a Wednesday... so it could have been a fluke. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It's a nice place to enjoy a special occasion or a first date. My party ordered the Antipasti Platter, Tagliatelle, and Cannelloni. Everything was only okay. The sauce used for the pasta was bland... I was expecting better as this is an Italian restaurant. 3 Stars based on overall guest experience. Zero (none) for the Hostess on Tuesday (3/22/22) and she can seriously drop the attitude. We interacted with her a few times as our team arrived at different times. Unprofessional, rude, and uninviting. Maybe it was just not a good day. Overall, the server was good and food was delicious. That and the conversation amongst friends saved the evening. We stopped in here for dinner on a Tuesday night. There were 10 of us by the end of the meal and 3 sat at the bar with the rest of us at two tables. It was a convenient location close to the Omni where we were staying. Two people in our party whose flights were delayed arrived late and we had to rearrange the seating but the way the hostess addressed our friend and her general attitude was grotesque and her passive aggressive comments toward reservations and accommodating our group was unsettling. As mentioned the server was good and was working hard with the dinning room. A little slow and missed out on an opportunity for higher beverage sales. It took forever to get drinks and that wine should have started flowing when we sat down. That aside, now that I have vented, on to the food. For the table apps we had the House Baked Focaccia which was absolutely amazing. For dipping we did the Traditional Oil and Balsamic ($3), the Burrata garlic oil & sea Salt ($5). We also had the Roasted Red Pepper Fonduta garlic oil & seas salt ($7) which was great, and my favorite the Honey Herb Butter ($5). I had the Gnocchi for my dish. It was perfect with short rib, onions, mushrooms, sage and a horseradish aioli ($24). Food was good and was not disappointing as the rest of the experience. I've been trying to visit this cute little Italian spot downtown for a long time now, and finally was able to snag a table last night after the JazzLive event (free summer tuesday jazz concerts downtown...check them out!). The patio is reserved for walk-in seating, and it's lovely! Even though it's right on the street, the plants and walls around it keep the cars from affecting the ambiance. Now to the food...and oh my goodness it was delicious! The roast duck pizza was divine and I already can feel myself craving it today! The burrata & focaccia appetizer was also a perfect representation of what a soft, salty burrata should be. Both were perfect sharing size as well and very reasonably priced. The summer cocktail list includes various versions of the classic aperol spritz, including the hibiscus which was my favorite! Some of the others were too sweet for me (such as the "planet of the grapes" cocktail). Talia also has a nice wine list (although a bit overpriced). I will definitely be back! Came here to celebrate my cousins graduation. They have live music when we arrived. Great ambiance with dimly lit lighting and high ceilings. They have an open kitchen and serve some great classic Italian dishes. We ordered everything from the mixed antipasta, burrata, seafood hotpot, duck breast, veal cannelloni, tagliatelle, and the seafood gnocchi. All of the pastas here were fresh. Great textures and the flavors were on point. The duck breast is a must order. Very large portion and the duck was cooked perfectly. The cannelloni was one of our other favorites. The sweet pepper jam and slowly braised veal were perfect with every bite. Everything here was perfect. You can tell the chefs are particular about every dish. Our cannelloni was stuffed with veal and each of our seafood hotpots were filled with plenty fresh seafood. You get great value with the price and portion sizes here. Even with a busy restaurant our food came out in a timely manner. Definitely save some room for dessert. The chocolate mousse cake and affogato were definitely worth it. read more
