Feels like the only other place in town (other than fast food) if you can't get a table at The Tuckaway. Sadly seems to have gone down over the years and just did absolutely nothing for us when we went this time. We got the poutine against our better judgment and against the advice of other yelpers, absolutely should have listened. It was white cheddar cheese and white gravy over fries with two onion rings on top. I understand wanting to do a twist on a classic poutine but the twist is usually supposed to elevate the classic - not the case here. It was just okay and absolutely wouldn't get it again. It was salted well but it just looked unappetizing and was bland otherwise This next thing is my fault because why would I expect anything more after the extremely weird appetizer? I ordered a $11 garden salad and did the steak tips add on for $10. It was truly not bigger than side salad and came with three very tough steak tips. Visited yesterday and sat at the bar. Bartender was nice but busy and it was hard to ask her for things we needed like silverware or drinks or food. We started with a fried green bean app $12.99 and theyre honestly the best ive had. Paired with a nice ranch and the fried green beans were covered in parmesan cheese. Very good but after seeing everyone else ordering substitute their fries for green beans i kind of wish i knew you could do that. My girl ordered the chicken taco salad $15.99 and the shell it arrives in is fantastic. Flaky and airy snd delicious. The salad looked good and she enjoyed it. I ordered the chicken tender dinner $18.99 buffalo style ($1 extra) and the tenders were great. Always irks me when businesses charge for sauce on the tenders/wings. Just seems incredibly desperate. Why no charge for ketchup? Surprised the dressing on a salad isnt a surcharge too. Just super lame in my opinion when places do this. The blue cheese was great and honestly didnt check to see if i was charged for blue cheese for my tenders but wouldnt be surprised. I wanted actual buffalo wings but 8 wings for $14.99 is too expensive and not worth it. Especially with a fee for buffalo sauce on buffalo wings. I got the buffalo tender dinner for 20$ and it seems like a better value. Overall i came from the positive reviews i read on yelp. The service was ok but everyone was very nice. The food was delicious. And some items on the menu seemed like market rate pricing while other items felt like a rip off. 2 cocktails, 1 beer, 1 soda, green bean app, taco salad, buff tender dinner was $100 which wasnt quite the deal i was expecting after reading the reviews ha. Ordered Poutine. Great fan of the dish and eat it daily whenever in Canada. What a disappointment. First, the brisket (which should never be served with an onion gravy) was overcooked, sliced incorrectly, had no discernible rub and no bark whatsoever. Brisket doesn't belong on Poutine to start with and when it's not even cooked properly, what's the point? The onion gravy (another thing that doesn't belong on Poutine) was sweet and obviously canned. Horrible flavor profile. Try good old fashioned dark brown chicken gravy made fresh like the Canadians do. Lastly, the potatoes. All restaurants use frozen french fries these days, but "Please" have the decency to fry them. Limp, crustless microwave fries just don't hack it. Never going back. If they can't get a simple potatoes and gravy recipe that is served in every diner from Upstate New York through Canada right, I'd hate to think what they would do to anything else. read more

Just tried this place the other day for the first time. We didn't know what expect, but we're very pleasantly surprised. The services was good - we never felt rushed. The pulled pork nachos were delicious and a big hit at the table. Overall the food was way better than most options in the general area. The beer selection was on absolutely on point. So, everything perfect so far. Then, we get the bill. It's possibly less expensive that an actual meal at McDonald's - definitely less expensive than Panera. This is our new go to place!! read more

I should preface this by saying I had only been to the old restaurant once before the redesign, and wasn't a huge fan. The restaurant looks a million times better! They took down the glass wall between the bar area, and the general seating, it's more open, and seems brighter and roomier. They replace the booths with high top booths, and the rest of the tables have been replaced as well. They have an extensive beer/wine list. They've also revamped their menu (and good quality). I had the French onion soup, and Reuben. Both we're delicious. The French onion which is normally savory, was slightly sweet, but good. The crock it came in was pretty large, and could have been a meal on it's own had I not split it with my husband. The Reuben was so good. The meat was a little smokey which have it a great flavor. First time here wasn't bad. We had never been to the original establishment, so had nothing to compare to as others have. It had such a bad rep among the locals we never bothered to go in. But heard from some friends how the new restaurant was a massive improvement, so had to give it a try. We were there before 6 on a Saturday evening, and even then the place wasn't as busy as we might have expected. No wait. Most of the tables were full and a good sized crowd at the bar. Some were sitting outside on the patio as the weather was incredibly nice for end of September. Even with an almost full house, the noise level wasn't an issue at all. Got seated immediately and the hostess brought us a bowl of fresh (rather salty - is that their trick to get us to order lot of drinks?) popcorn to munch on while we perused menus. The styrofoam bowl with a tipsy bottom was a bit of a detraction. Quite a varied menu, plus daily specials. Some vegetarian options. Our server was table side within a short span of minutes to take our beverage order and list those specials. After some mulling, DH opted for the soft pretzel appetizer. Somehow he missed the descriptor "soft" and thought it would be more of a crunchy variety. Other than being heavily salted, like the popcorn, he said it was okay. Me, on the other hand, had to follow my tradition of sampling the clam chowder. Phooey. Should have gone with the French onion soup. The chowder was a little bland, on the thin side and precious few clams to be found, but loads of celery, onion and bacon. Was also barely lukewarm. Bummer. For entrées, DH was true to form and had a burger. The Old Yankee burger to be specific, sans the healthy garnishes and garlic mayo. Again he missed a detail in the menu that there are two Angus beef patties, not just one on their burgers. So it ended up being at least a half pound of beef; he was in Cholesterol Heaven. Fries were lightly seasoned. I went for one of the specials, Lobster Mac & Cheese. Toasty hot in a cast iron skillet. Lots of big lobster chunks in this dish, and some intact claw meat hiding underneath the cavatappi (sort of a hybrid penne/rotini). Loving that! However the cheese sauce was quite soupy, requiring use of a spoon. Mac and cheese to me, should be more gooey than watery. Must be one of my many quirks. Menu said special blend of cheeses, and this will sound almost heretical (eek!), but it tasted like melted process cheese. I don't know what blend they use, and should have asked, but it was almost too cheesy, if that makes any sense. But the amount of lobster outweighed all that. And it was a big portion. Took more than half of it home. Oh, there was garlic bread of a sort. No real garlic, just some spread on a soft baguette and grilled. Tasteless, but good for dipping in the cheese sauce. Had the leftovers for lunch today. Sprinkled a little lemon thyme from the garden over it before warming up. Toned down the cheese sauce and was a nice complement to the lobster. This was more of a 3-3.5 star experience based on the food, but the service was awesome so we are going with 4. Our waitress was attentive frequently checking in and constantly refilling DH's diet Pepsi (almost lost a star for not being a Coke establishment;) ) and other staff were quick to take dirty dishes away. One young woman even asked if I got my chowder. Had I really liked it I might have said no, and got another bowl. She admitted she would have brought it. Ha! They do breakfast on the weekends. We will give that a try one day and will give dinner another chance at some point as well. read more

One star is generous. Onion rings were was greasy, burgers definitely from frozen (no matter what they tell people), two patties and three layers of bread are great, if you have a hinged jaw. Girl at the door that seated us said exactly four words "Just two of you", no hello, no how are you tonight, no enjoy your meal, no have a good night when we left. Horrible, horrible person to greet patrons. Drinks are way to week. I give the one star to the waitress who was very nice. And if you're going to have Keno, the staff should know where the tickets to play are or where the machine to play it is. They do make money on Keno one would think you would be better at facilitating your customers. I would rather go hungry then to ever eat there again. read more

Went there for lunch. Ordered a bacon cheese burger. It came with French fries that were obviously pre-fried and just heated up. The burger was definitely smaller than the last time I was there which I found out the charge a surcharge/convince charge of 3% if you use a debit or credit card. It is against FEDERAL law to impose these fees on Debit card yet they would no reverse tge charge. I called and left a message and sent them a message thru there website that what they are doing is ILLEGAL. If I don't here from them by Monday I will be filing a complaint with the FEDERAL/IRS. I wonder if they are paying taxes. 3% on top of $16.99 for a burger with refined dry French fries. The meal came out in 5 minutes. There is no way they cooked it from fresh. read more

Ended up here on Monday evening as second choice of eatery (first choice had 2 for 1 deals and had a wait time of 1 hour+). It wasn't particularly busy, but they seemed a bit short-staffed as the service was a little slack and we waited quite a long time for the food to arrive. I ordered lobster sliders, which were tasty enough but were a little on the small side. With only two on the plate plus some French fries and coleslaw I was wishing that I'd ordered a starter. Three sliders of that size would have been fine. Dessert choice was limited to two, neither of which took my fancy, so we left. While I enjoyed this place for the first year or so, I've been disappointed since then. First off, the hostess/es, never look up from their phones ( 2 different times). I waited for over 5 min. Even said "hello" got looked at ... back to get phone. Second time a server came over to host and had a conversation that lacked importance while 4 of us waited patiently. A friend had gone to the bathroom and cane back out all the while no one acknowledged us. So we left both of those times. Went back with a group of 6 . Got seated. But service was unbelievable slow. More than 15 min for someone to quickly walk by and say they'd be right with us. We ordered drinks and appetizers. When the drinks came back she took our lunch order. Then all the food came out at once. Servers fault? Kitchen fault? Not sure but this is a pet peeve. We never were asked for drink refills. No one came to check on us and one of my friends had an entirely wrong sandwich. I kept looking at the owner/manager. But he works not even make eye contact. We ended up having to go up to the bar to get out tab. Food was ok. Menu had changed. But I wouldn't go back. And I used to go about 2-3 a month for 3 years straight. read more

I had a great dinner at Cork N' Keg. There is a ton of seating, so we had no wait for a table for 5 on a Saturday night. This was a nice change of pace from Tuckaway Tavern down the road. Our server was really friendly and attentive. We shared the three way dipper and jalapeño poppers to start. Both were very good. However, the jalapeño poppers were way too spicy for me. For dinner I had the honey chipotle chicken wrap with fries. The fries were pretty good, but the wrap was excellent. My son enjoyed his Mac & cheese. Two others in my party for burgers and the other also got the honey chipotle chicken wrap. No one had any complaints with their meals. We shared the whoopie pie and cookie ice cream sandwich for dessert. I highly recommend both! I will definitely be back to Cork N' Keg. read more

We live about an hour away and made the trip to eat at a different nearby restaurant but when the wait for lunch was well over an hour, we decided to try here instead. To say we were surprised with how good the food and service were is an understatement. The tots appetizer was different, creative and delicious. The burgers were huge. This used to be one of my go to restaurants, but recently the food and service are hit or miss. They do have a great beer selection, but after dinner last night I probably will not return. They had the audacity to upcharge for bbq sauce with the chicken tender meal which comes with honey mustard. While I find it utterly ridiculous to charge someone for a different dipping sauce (ordered at the time the order was placed so I didn't receive one and then get an extra sauce) the fact that they charged me extra without even notifying me was the final straw for me. Local to my wife and I we eat there a couple of times per month. Last night I was really in the mood for their Chefs Salad. The last time I was there this is what I had and it was fantastic. Fresh, cold and a very filling salad. Unfortunately it has been dropped from the new menu. My wife had her favorite. The fish sandwich. Alas it was slightly over cooked and was a considerably smaller portion compared to the last few times she ordered it. Lots of new staff that seemed helpful and attentive. Anyone who came to this place back when it was Legends knows that it was an absolute dump. The food was gross, the 4 beers they had on tap were always skunked and some of the staff (the owner included) were just downright creeps. That being said, I was so happy to hear that Legends had shut down and would be re-opening as an all new establishment. I'll admit I was apprehensive at first because I didn't know who had bought it and how different it would be but I was blown away by the transformation. The atmosphere inside is a complete 180 from the way it used to be. I love that they removed the glass windows that separated the bar and high-tops from the booths. The whole place seems much more wide open. It has all new lighting, the bar has been completely re-designed and overall the entire place has been brought up to date. The beer selection (45 on tap!) is great, featuring beer from breweries all over the country and the bartenders are all super friendly and attentive. I was thrilled to see that Christine, one of the bartenders from Legends, was rehired by the new owners, as she was one of few Legends staff members that always took great care of her customers. I've been twice this week and both times the food (I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich one day and the club sandwich a few days later) was wonderful. While we were eating our lunch, Vicki, one of the owners, came over and introduced herself and asked how our meal was and she was so friendly! It is so great to finally see someone breathing life into this place as it's one of the few places in town to go. Their burgers are so delicious. They are all double patty burgers. So they are huge. They do not use those thin frozen patties. They are the hand shaped patties. And the buns are wonderful too. It did take a little bit of time to receive our food after our orders were placed. But well worth the wait. The fries were excellent. And they were all a good size portion. Greeter: 4pm on a Saturday, 1:30-1:45 minute wait at Tuckaway so we decided to try this place out! We were seated right away by a pleasant greeter. Table: basic, minimal ambiance. Restroom: used the M/F one when we got there, floor was absolutely filthy especially around edges and corners. Tried the F restroom before leaving and it was a little cleaner. Service: good, sampled several wines before settling on a merlot suggested by the bartender. This was good as the first one I tried was not to my liking. Food: Took much too long to arrive. I ordered a side salad with buffalo chicken dip, it was good but needed something to go with it (like sour cream). My husband and his friend got the Dagwood sandwich which they both agreed was enormous and very tasty. French fries were good too. My friend got the bacon mac n cheese, average. We will likely go back as it was a good alternative to Tuckaway. Hoping the bathroom is cleaner. Everyone in the group agrees on the 4 stars! read more

For a place that actually smokes its own meats, they cut corners everywhere else. This restaurant is a glorified Applebee's or Chiles, and that isn't a compliment. Nothing is made in house, the lettuce isn't even shredded or pulled in house. Food is inconsistent, a lot of it is frozen, more of it canned and pre-made. Their "award winning chile" is terrible. The only upside here is their bar has an amazing beer selection and the guy that runs it really knows his stuff. Also, the corned beer hash is made in house from scratch and is amazing.
