Small cheese pizza way too much cheese and sauce on it. Crust so soggy.

I go here quite a bit because of the convenience. The chicken fingers are good. Some nights I love the cheese pizza and other nights it is soggy with 2-3 more cheese and sauce than it should have. It's disappointing to get it home and not even want to eat it. I wish they would standardize how much cheese and sauce to put on so the crust stays crispy.

Panzanella was the place my husband and I went on one of our first dates, and years later it's still our go-to date night spot.

I wouldn't recommend the mofongo as I've had this at 6 other places in the region and most were better. The drinks were great but way too expensive for Newmarket. $15 for a weak gin drink? There's also a digital jukebox on the wall near the bar. The food menu offers a variety of starters (dips, nachos, flatbread cerviche, empanadas), soup, salads, sliders, wraps, fried chicken sandwiches, entrees (mofongo, mac & cheese, pollo asado, quesadilla), and desserts. The pricing here seems fair. They offer a happy hour menu (4pm-6pm) and late night menu (10pm-12am). At the bar, 6 draft beers, bottle/can beers, seltzers, wine, and signature mixed drinks are offered. I stopped by Mia recently for some happy hour bites. I took a seat up at the bar and ordered an ice water and the Nachos ($8 plus tax) and Big Mozzarella Sticks ($8 plus tax). The place was moderately busy here on a Friday evening. The appetizers came out in 10 minutes. The Nachos were the right size for 1-2 people, warm crispy tortilla chips loaded with melted cheddar jack sauce, peppers, onions, jalapenos, & pico de gallo. The 4 homemade thick mozzarella logs were lightly breaded & crispy outside with melted mozzarella cheese inside with a sweet marinara sauce (cold) for dipping. I managed to finish both appetizers before I requested the check which was $17.36 with tax and before tip. Overall, Mia is a great place to stop and unwind for food and drinks. The staff at the bar was quite busy during my stop here and let me enjoy my food in peace while watching sports highlights on the TV.

Wonderful Portuguese / Azorean restaurant in Newmarket. Spencer and Amanda (The chef with Azorean…read moreroots) were welcoming. Spencer made me The Golden Mash, a delicious bourbon based drink with homemade ingredients. The bread and butter were perfection, no bakery in the seacoast can compare and the salt balance was the best I've had in years. The salt cod cakes were sensational although they could have been a bit more crispy. The cavatelli tasted as if was all fresh from the garden and wasn't too filling because it was complemented with vegetables grown locally on a farm in Lee. This was the hit of the evening! The kitchen is open and spotless. The ventilation is excellent. The decor is beautiful and I would put this on the list of the top restaurants in the Seacoast Cons: the menu is limited, I hope they offer a greater variety of entrees or specials as this would draw us back more often

The bar serves up cocktails, mixed drinks, and their house wines & vermouth (also available for retail purchase). The food menu is limited due to small kitchen space, offering boards (cheeses, meats), snacks, small plates, larger plates, and desserts. The prices are moderate high. After making a reservation online for a bar seat, I stopped in Hopestill for food. The place was busy with all 4-5 tables occupied and the bar seats half filled. The bartender was very busy making drinks & taking orders and the chef was making food and serving to customers. It took a bit before I could order. For a small plate, the Salt Cod Cakes ($13 plus tax), 3 small soft cod cakes (very hot) plated with paprika aioli & pickled celeriac. I finished in a few bites. For a larger plate, the Beef Shank Cacoila ($29 plus tax) was served very hot in a bowl, which had slow braised beef shank, fregola, sweet & spicy peppers and Portuguese olive oil. This dish had good flavors and I had half of it boxed to go for later on. I passed on dessert and got the check which came out to $45.58 with tax and before tip. Overall, I enjoyed the tasty food here in a cozy and classic bar atmosphere. The service was adequate, though a bit delayed due to the limitations of the space and staffing.

We looked at it today and I think the menu looks really touristy, sort of like Weathervane or Newick's. Lots of fried seafood platters, and not much that seems interesting or creative, but maybe there's a page of specials that isn't in the window. This could be a good move for the owners - summer's coming and in Portsmouth, that's tourist season. Tourists come to Portsmouth and say things like "I'm on the ocean, I want seafood." Portsmouth isn't on the ocean but that's okay, whatever makes the tourists happy. I look forward to trying Portside Seafoods and I hope it's surprisingly interesting and fun. Quick edit (7/10/10): Portside Seafoods was open for a month or two, was sold, and is now under renovation. Again.

"I do not want a pickle ... I just wanna ride my motorsickle."…read more Dropped in with my old man and my brother and sister-in-law for some brew and some hot food. Three inches of snow had fallen in the last four hours; cars' tires were spinning a bit, people were slippin and slidin on the slick of the downtrodden snow on the sidewalks, and a general white-ness filled the air and the sky. You could see the cold. Which is why, of course, that I was in desperate need for fried pickles. Mmm-mmm. Pickle chips doused in batter and fried to a deep delicious golden brown with Texas tartar sauce and buffalo wing dip. Tasty. There's a good selection of beers in this joint and, to my delight, the left coast was represented with Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada. I opted for a Smutty Nose Pale Ale with my pickles. The pulled pork quesadillas were tender and tasty with a sweet, tangy BBQ sauce and pepper jack with a huge dollop of sour cream on the side. My only gripe was that they were served on a thin piece of butcher paper that, upon getting more and more damp in the process of eating the damn thing, would come off in pieces and inevitably get ingested with the rest of the forkful. %DV of Wood Pulp? 100! Apparently there's a FREAKIN' MASSIVE platter of orgiastic proportions called THE SQUEALER. I can't say that I'd ever try to partake in this, but essentially it's a veritable shitload of pork on a plate and you gotta eat it ALL in an hour. If you're able to complete this formidable task, you get it free. A line of photographs by the front door shows some people who had accomplished the feat and others who had not. What was amusing to me was how many big, fat guys wearing baseball hats failed, and how many cute young women emerged victorious. Yay, you go, girl! Enough. Good place, pleasant atmosphere, good food. Pass me those damn fried pickles, please.

We've gone there for lunch almost every week, and lately, the experience has really declined. The staff rarely seem happy or welcoming anymore -- there's very little warmth or friendliness. Dishes are tossed into bins so loudly as if the waitstaff don't care about the guest experience! The sound is so jarring that it really takes away from enjoying the meal you work hard to pay for. Also, more than once I've overheard kitchen staff loudly telling each other grumpy things like to "shut up," which isn't exactly the vibe you want over breakfast. The only time the waitstaff really engage with a forced smile is when they drop off the check. On top of that, orders are often wrong, toast and home fries come out burnt, and the coffee on my last visit was barely lukewarm. Whatever happened to simple caring and kindness? Lately, it feels like customer experience isn't at the heart of things anymore at the Big Bean -- and when that slips, everything else eventually does too. The atmosphere has completely changed too. It used to feel fun, lively, and full of character -- now it just feels tired. The walls and beams are chipped, the floors sticky, the tables are wobbly, and the wonderful artwork of locals that gave the place charm is gone too. It's like the energy has been drained out of the building. I used to look forward to going there every week, but now it feels like we're inconveniencing the employees just by showing up. It's sad to see such a great local spot lose its spark.
