Teddy had a hot dog & fries off the kids menu with a lemonade. He ate it all. There are about 12 beers on tap. I was happy to have a Maine Beer Co. Lunch. The quesadilla I chose was delicious-it came with sour cream & salsa on the side. No complaints. Plenty of parking in the shared lot. So glad my daughter recommended Tailgate Tavern. Honestly, Tailgate Tavern is nothing crazy special, but the food is pretty good in the area. The pretzel bites with the cheese sauce were amazing and definitely the best thing we got. The nachos were alright, not the best I've eaten, but they were fine. Not pictured is the fried chicken salad and that was also fine! Again, everything tasted good, but just wasn't overly special! It's bar food and if you want good bar food, then here you go! They do have a happy hour, but I don't know what's on the menu. Though it's 3-5 pm every day and 3-6 on Thursdays. I think that's pretty good and I'd be interested in coming back to try some more appetizers with a drink! The server was attentive and the food came out quickly. The decor is fun and definitely reminds me of a tailgate! Again, if you want bar food, this is a pretty good option in the Exeter/Stratham area (though I personally don't eat a lot of bar food!). read more

Took hubby here for our anniversary. The food was reasonably priced and amazing. We got the cornbread app omg that was amazing.. The food portions are big as well.. It's always busy, but we always seem to find a table. The food is excellent, some of it a bit exotic (the French onion soup burger is excellent). The staff works very hard and is very pleasant. Plenty of TVs for games but not loud. read more

This is a nice pub. Huge bar, good beer selection, some decent wine, whiskey selection is limited. There are also tables and high tops for groups. They have the usual pub grub as well as entrees and daily specials. Everything is pretty good, and we have our favorites that are very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful especially the few that have been there for years. Interesting decor, lots of TVs for enjoying sports and an overall friendly atmosphere with many regulars. This was the sister restaurant of Gibbs Garage which closed recently. I wish they put some items from the Gibbs menu on the Tailgate menu. Overall I like the food, but today it was not that good. I wasn't that hungry so I order chicken tenders, they came out ice cold. I didn't complain to my waitress as she was the only server there. Just OK. I won't be back. My husband's caramelized onion/mushroom/cheese burger was fine, nothing special - I'd give it a 4. The accompanying fries were worse than average - a 3. I got the southwest salad, normally a favorite of mine. I thought it would be fine as long as I ordered it without the jalapenos. But it was still too hot/spicy for me to tolerate, due to the coating on the chicken. This really should be made clear on the menu. So I gave it to my husband, who loves spicy food. He finished it off, but said "The flavor isn't the best". All in all, a disappointing meal. read more

My boyfriend frequents this place so much that the staff have come to know him, whether he brings me, meets a friend or just bellies up to the bar on his own for a drink. The menu has plenty of options without being overwhelming. Boyfriend always gets Mac and cheese which is good, and I've also tried the chicken tenders, chili and Caesar salad and steak tips, all of which have been good. Drinks are great too. The service is timely as well. Overall, I've had a great experience every time I've gone in thus far. I ordered fried fish and when it came to the table I knew something was wrong when I took my first bite ... it smelled of ammonia! Clearly the fish was spoiled. I was very disappointed that the cook didn't know. I was offered something else but my appetite was ruined for the day. I wasn't charged for the meal. read more

Finally made it in to try! Loved the simplistic menu, I have trouble deciding when there's too many options. I ordered the shortrib "coach mac" and cheese. Deliciously creamy smoky cheese with fall apart ribs. My pumpkin martini was just the right kind of sweet. Additionally, even though the place was busy, the sound level was quiet enough to enjoy my dinner conversation.
