For my birthday, my wife and I tried the tuckaway tavern. It was extremely disappointing. I left a review there if interested. Why did I start with this? Read on. We found the carriage town bar and grill quit by accident 4 years ago. We immediately fell in love with the food and service. Even though we live in Salem, we try to MB make it here 2-3 times a month. Today was the very first time I tried the steak tips. I wasn't expecting top tier tips, but, as usual I was proven wrong. They were large, tender, juicy, incredibly well flavored, and cooked perfectly as ordered. So if you want great steak tips, forget the tavern and come to the carriage town bar and grill in Kingston. Once again, they did not dissapoint. And the prices are very fair. read more

This was the third strike. I wouldn't normally leave this review, but after bringing people from out of town to have good food only to be shadowed by terrible service, I will never be back. We were just patrons wanting warm dip and pickle for a sandwich. We asked to heat our dip that was served cold. Your servers couldn't even give us enough time to listen to our full order before walking away. The service was so ridiculously bad. One drink was provided about 10 minutes prior to the other for a party of 2. ! I just wanted a pickle with my sandwich that I thought was overlooked. Your server argued about a damn pickle! Gave me a history of lack of pickles served for 15 years. WTAF? It was over the top bad. Top it off with your server obviously badmouthing us to a regular which made us so uncomfortable that we left asap. The passive aggressive waitstaff was over the top. This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, sadly with friends who I hoped to show the goodness of my area. read more

Called in an order, while in the middle of giving the order, the woman taking the order yells at other employees. Rude to both myself and the employee. When I received the food, the fried food was cold and soup was completely flavorless. Salad said it was mixed greens and was actually only romaine. Disappointing and too expensive to go back. Worth the trip for the Eggs Benedict with lobster trimmings (and without the ham!) weekend brekkie option. Served on a couple of large muffins with home fries on the side and Hollandaise sauce on top. Yum! The home fries were just a little overdone with a couple on the crunchy side, but not enough to spoil the enjoyment. Service was friendly, although rather slow on the coffee refills. I was almost halfway through my meal before I got a fresh mug. They have a great beer selection at the bar, and had it not been so early I might have been tempted to partake - definitely worth checking out if you're in later in the day. Overall pretty satisfactory but I'm not inclined to go more than three stars on this one. read more

I have been going to this place since way before they had their fire, today was just terrible. I ordered a garden salad with panko fried chicken, Which shouldn't be that hard to screw up right? WRONG!! It's to bad I hadn't checked the to go package before leaving the restaurant as I would have made them make me a new salad. The chicken was burnt and dry, the salad was weak and the carrot slices had black moldy dots on them. Normally I could eat this salad for 2 sittings, but today between the dry burnt chicken (that I didn't want to waste my lunchtime driving back and forth for) and the weak salad, well let's just say I USE to brag about this place. NOT TODAY!! I may consider whether or not I will ever return or give more of a direct order when placing one such as, can you make sure the salad is worth the money I'm paying for it, can you please make sure the chicken isn't burnt and the salad not have moldy vegetables?? Really used to enjoy their pizza. Ordered a pepper and onion pizza there tonight. I opened it when I got home and needed a magnifying glass to see the peppers and onions. 2 slices didn't even have any. What ones did have them looked as though they were from the frozen food package of chopped ones. What happened to the sliced peppers and onions? Not to mention I asked for a well done pizza and didn't get that either. ( I guess I just did mention it) The only thing right about this pizza was it was hot when they gave it to me. read more

So disappointed. How could you all take my order for salads, subs, soups and your Salmon dinner ? Then, when we show up to pickup our take out order "you tell me no Salmon today" ? My wife and son have been raving about this place and I wanted to give it a whirl.... Most of the food was really good, see below: 1. Caesar salad with Tuna. Sounds weird but the person who ordered it doesn't like iceberg lettuce. They said the salad was as good as before, but s little watery tonight. I tasted the tuna and it was delicious. 2. Small cheese pizza- was very good, not greasy or soggy and very cheesy. 3. Mozzarella sticks - delicious and the marinade was awesome 4. Baked haddock - disgusting. Haddock Is supposed to be mild and flaky, this was neither. I'm not even sure it was haddock, but it it was it definitely wasn't fresh. If it came in Friday then tonight it was two days old at least. It was firm, didn't flake and was t white. Now, for fried haddock they charge fair market price, baked has a static price on the menu? I wonder if they use the older haddock for baked or If it's frozen? Not sure. Side of asparagus was great and well cooked. 5. Saw a cook in the open kitchen eating something, French fry maybe? Don't know but I don't want to see the cooks chewing, or scratching their scruffy beards while I'm eating. Thankfully this restaurant has more of the great servers than the bad. Bar staff is also outstanding. Have found regardless of what we choose the food to be great. This is the second time we have come here and been turned away. First time was when they didn't have a high chair available for our baby for 30-45 minutes when the place was empty because the ONE high chair they had at the time was being used. Today we arrived around 11:15 am with a very very hungry 2 year old- the same child they couldn't accommodate 2 years ago. This time my husband asked if they were serving lunch and they said "yes in about 10 minutes" so we got the toddler out of the car and parked. When we got in and picked a table, the server told us- just so you know, we are switching over to lunch right now so it's at least a 20 minute wait. What the fizzzzuxkkkk is that shieettt?!?! So we were basically turned away again. In a fairly empty restaurant. I'm am so disgusted and felt so dismissed. Never again. 2 times of being turned away is 100% a turn off. Wow. I wonder if the owner knows this kind of stuff goes on. Figure out a better way to "change to lunch" what do you have to do that is that hard? Give me a break! read more

Checked this place out with my friend last night. The staff was great! Don't let my 3/5 stars frustrate you. The food wasnt bad, maybe 6.5 - 7/10. The biggest concern was the prices. A little steep for pasta dishes. I did want seafood but the market price last night was too high for me to know how much food I was getting. Maybe it's due to the location of this place? Where do I start... oh yes... Eggs Benedict. But not just any Bennie. Go for the fresh lobster add-on! I expected a small claw or two and other little bits. Not so! Try a heap of the yummy crustacean on two poachies (yes one was slightly close to overdone, but I really couldn't have cared less!) on an oversized English muffin! Our waitress (friendly and very efficient) wasn't sure if the hollandaise was fresh or a mix, so I went with it on the side. If it was a mix, it was a pretty good one, light, buttery, not gloppy. Perhaps not as tangy as fresh, but it worked for me for dipping and a little drizzle. Opted for fruit instead of home fries. It was a nice mix of fresh banana, blueberries and strawberries. Hubby was quite enamored with his 4(!!!!) egg omelette stuffed with ham, bacon and cheese. Home fries were chunky but not greasy. And he loved the thick cut toast. They only do breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7am-11am. Surprisingly not busy on this visit. Maybe the locals don't know what they're missing? When we tried to go previously, they were closed, doing the expansion into the unit next door. We didn't peek in there, but more space is good. The part we were in was separated from the bar by a partition wall, but only 6 or 7 tables and some high tops across from the bar itself. When you walk in the front door, you get a great view of the kitchen. The owner welcomed us from behind the counter and we chatted with him again as we left, thanking him for a wonderful breakfast. We have always loved what we've been served here. We knew it would be beyond busy upon the reopening after the fire. My only suggestion at this time is that they shouldn't even be attempting to do take out when eat in customers are waiting for a table, then waiting 20 minutes for a waitress to take your order, then waiting another 25 minutes for an appetizer, and all total waiting 55 minutes for our food from the time we sat down. If it's busy and you plan on having even a refill of water, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. We won't plan on going back until spring. It was just too crazy. read more

Bacon - this was actually good but overcooked, possibly par cooked and heated up - meh Strawberries - old and mushy - gross English muffin - This was actually done well - but you have jelly packets would have been amazing if instead there was a real spread to go on it. Maple syrup in portion cups - come on... I'm not taking my food to go. Put it in a container that has a spout not a little portion cup so it goes all over my fingers when I use it. Let me preface by saying, this review is coming from someone who has never written a review on a restaurant before with the exception of a sub shop, which was favorable. I don't know what it is about this place for people to swear by it. I was swayed once again after 3 years to try it and after my 4th attempt of wanting to be objective, I can say without hesitation this place could only be considered a good place to eat by those who have gotten shitfaced before ordering, or came from a 3rd world impoverished country. I mean really, if this was the last supper, Jesus and his Apostles would have declined! Last time I was here, it was their French Au Jus and the supposedly shaved prime rib literally had no taste and the Au Jus was tasteless as well. There was not even a hint of salt or seasoning and it was like eating a boat shoe! In the essence of being fair, I will say the fries were pretty good. This time I got the chicken caesar wrap - Pretty simple right? Nope - It was the absolute worst wrap I have ever had. The limpy romaine lettuce that most restaurants discard in order to have the fresh lettuce crunch was the mainstay in this wrap, which not only took away from the taste of the chicken and the dressing, it overwhelmed and ruined it. I had to remove all the limpy and soggy lettuce, only to find the chicken couldn't be distinguished due to the leftover taste from it, and what dressing was left was no caesar dressing I was familiar with. This was my 4th attempt and there will not be a 5th. Saying this place is horrible is an understatement, as they obviously do not take the time to administer even a little pride in what they serve, and to top it off, the bartender came over and took our order because the waitress was hard to find, and when she finally arrived, it was obvious she had a cold without trying to hide it.
