Had a good experience here. It's March and we came to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a Bday weekend for a friend of ours. On a Friday it wasn't too crowded but a healthy amount of people. They have a patio that's heated so you can comfortably eat on the patio. It's nice. Walk in to the main building and there is a long bar you can sit at or tables on the side and in a back room. Nice layout. Our server was great. Lots of fun. He didn't write anything down and got it all right. I asked him for a recommendation on an app cuz I wasn't that hungry. He said the feta burchetta. It comes in 4 huge pieces. More than enough to share. Piled high with tomatoes, cheese, onions, and you add your own olive oil and balsamic. It was very good. I ate 2. With a fork cuz it's big and awkward. Everyone else got different things 2 cheese burgers. Both said they were good and a nice chargrilled taste. Mussels and that was a good plateful. And the gyro sandwich. And that had 2 thumbs up. Oh and the French fries are really good. I stole a few. Crispy and soft in the middle. We weren't rushed we sat and talked and had a nice time. Prices were fairly reasonable. Our bill with tip and drinks was around $77 Canadian. So I but that really in the $60 range. I thought the apps were a bit expensive but as mentioned the portion was huge. So you gotta weight that. I'd definitely recommend. read more

Anytime we visit the area this is where we end up. This place introduced us to ice wine for the first time some 20 years ago and it's still a great find. This time we went in for a snack and boy did it hit the spot. I had the lentil soup which was pretty good after it was rewarmed. Also had the muscles in a garlic, white wine sauce with garlic bread. YUMMM (capitals intentional)! Hubby had the same soup and fried calamari. Service was attentive, polite and accommodating. Was in Niagara on the lake for the day just checking out the area and decided I wanted to check out a local spot for lunch. Most restaurants there have menus outside so you can see what's on it in advance. Corks to me had the best options. The wait wasn't long. We asked to be seated on the outside patio which was nice because it was packed and we got the last table available. Our waitress was very nice and gave us plenty of time to go over our menu. I wanted something light so I went with the chicken Ceasar wrap and fries. The fries were crispy and the wrap was full of flavor. Hubby enjoyed the fish and chips. Starting with the positives. The location and space where great they have a little outdoor seated area exept it it's actually just in cased with windows and a thin roof and the doors kept open so it feels like outdoor seating but you still have shelter from the rain and wind. Plus there fish and chips which they blame is voted number 1# is pretty good, though not mind blowing. The thing that really brings this down was our other ordered items. We got the lamberger special and it was so dry my mom couldn't even eat half of it, the red wine was so so too. The service also took a while for them to even get our drinks even though the place wasn't that full. TLDR: food wasn't great, service wasn't great, but the ambiance was amazing! read more

Following the high recommendation of our shuttle bus driver, we were seated immediately on the heated veranda at Corks. It is near the quaint town's center. We ordered the watermelon, feta, cucumber, and olive salad. It was drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and was perfectly delicious. We also ordered the Francine risotto balls in marinara sauce and butter squash ravioli on creamed tomato sauce. Molto bene! Amazingly fine lunch, delicious food and super friendly service. We had a great experience at Corked tonight. Our server was absolutely fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the evening. The food was excellent. My son ordered the Portuguese chicken and devoured it. I went with the burger, which I'd rate a solid 8/10 -- flavourful, well-cooked, and definitely something I'd order again. And the fries? Good lunch spot in the busy Old Town area. We parked off the main drag and wandered around looking for a quick lunch where we could have a good salad - this place was popular so we figured it must be good! They have a large patio to take advantage of good summer weather. We both had the rocket salad and they accommodated no walnuts easily. The salad was fresh and exactly what we were craving. We also shared the spring rolls which were good. They have a great wine menu featuring local wines, so we splurged and both had a glass of wine from one of the nearby wineries. There are a few vegetarian options on the menu so if you don't want meat, you'll be able to eat here. The bathrooms are downstairs, so that's something to keep in mind. Location is perfect, right on the main drag in NOTL. They don't take reservations, but we got lucky and it wasn't crowded for dinner. We sat on the outside patio, where there were fans blowing, but it was hot. So hot that it became not enjoyable after a while. The menu has lots of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. Our server was extremely good and got our drink orders quickly. I opted for the chicken Parmesan which was served with a side of pasta. Our food arrived very timely and everything was nice and hot. I had two chicken breasts and a plate of pasta....enough for two. The chicken was tender and the sauce was good. Service was great throughout the meal. Fish was rather overcooked, oil was all over the plate made the fries so greasy, like they were scooped out from the oil tank by a spoon. Great location +1, nice patio +1. Well we happened upon this place as the original place we were going to eat was closed for a private party. We were a little skeptical as they had a small menu and specials. If you love the outdoors, you can eat outside on the patio, but because it was only 20 degrees outside, we chose to eat inside. There were some hearty customers taking advantage of the outdoors. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. All I can say is the food is awesome and fresh. We both started with soup of the day. Lemon Chicken and rice. This was amazing and the extra lemon on the side made this soup so delicious. We also started with crab cakes. Last time we had a good crab cake was in Florida. These were so look, lots of crab very little filler. So flaky and good. My husband has the braised short rib special. They were done to perfection. His veggies were done aldente, but too crunchy. Only complaint. I had a burger with Cheddar, lettuce and onion. It came with fries. Lots of food. Our drinks were delicious. They were refreshing and would be both great on a hot summers day. But still were good on a freezing evening. He had the bees knees and I had a white sangria. So glad our original place was closed and we were able to have really good food. read more

Corks Wine Bar & Eatery is a wine bar and bistro that opened in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada in 2009. It was founded by father and daughter restaurateurs Bob and Maria Mavridis. Located in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake's "Old Town" section, the establishment offers a selection of 32 local wines, 21 local beers on draught, steakhouse entrées, pasta dishes, seafood, wraps & sandwiches, burgers, and various pub fare. The location also has a bit of paranormal history. Following the War of 1812, the building was home to "The Buttery" pub and restaurant. Several sailors frequented here as they waited for their goods to be transferred off their boats and on to land. Apartments used to be on the second floor and a number of people lived there over the years. A terrible murder supposedly occurred on the second floor in the late 19th century. In one version, a brother accidentally knocked his pregnant sister down the stairs while he was fighting off her abusive husband. In another version, a doctor accidentally knocked his wife down the stairs. Either way, several people have reported strange occurrences at Corks over the years. Much of the activity is said to occur in the basement, where the bathrooms are today. Some think the murdered woman fell into the basement and some think she may have been secretly buried there too. My wife and I visited Corks in April 2016. We were on a sightseeing trip to Niagara Falls for four days. Several people had told us to head north and check out Niagara-on-the-Lake for its huge winery scene. We dedicated a day for visiting wineries and breweries. While we were at a winery, someone recommended Corks as a great place to get lunch. My wife had the Sprial Spanakopita with salad greens while I had the Pork Schnitzel with mushroom gravy and French fries. We were very happy with our meal choices. In addition to local wines, Corks also brews their own beer. I ordered their sampler flight which consisted of a Blonde Ale, a Hemp Beer, a Red Lager, and a Winter Ale. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience at Corks and would definitely stop in again the next time we visit the area. read more

It was a beautiful fall Sunday and we didn't expect to get a table, but the service from the hostess was wonderful. I came back after 10 minutes and we were seated immediately. For starters, the goat cheese bruschetta was lightly buttered and had a great mix of tomatoes and dollops of cheese. THe onion soup isn't a traditional cheese baked soup. It comes with all of the onions. bread, and cheese mixed in. Overall good flavor. The fish was a nice cut and their fries were crispy! Burger with Caramelized onions came out perfectly cooked! Visiting Niagara on the lake and walking on queen street after a wine tour we were very hungry. All the restaurants were super busy but we got lucky and got seated instantly here inside. Would've preferred the patio that looked very bright and beautiful but we didn't mind as we were starving. Staff were super nice and a pleasure to speak with. The food was delicious especially the fresh mussels in their wine sauce. The sauce was so good my friend was drinking it as soup. The fried chicken burger wasn't deep fried the way I was expecting had a schnitzel feel to it but it was also delicious. Decent price and generous portions. They are known for their fish and chips which also looked and smelled very good. Would def recommend stopping by after a long day of walking or wine tours. read more

Waitress lied about Veal Wienerschnitzle being fresh and being "prepared downstairs right now" it was in fact frozen then deep fried and it looked and tasted like a chicken fried steak. Pasta was reheated in a microwave. Lobster "sandwich" roll was in fact a commercial lobster spread and didn't even taste good on its own. Went here for a late dinner while walking around Queen Street. Very friendly staff, decent decor and clean place. I ordered the soup of the day which was a red pepper and tomato soup, along with the muscles. The person I was with ordered the Falafel wrap which was tasty but very dry and not much chickpea filling at all. The muscles were undercooked and about 10 of them never opened so those were inedible and the broth was so lemony. I love muscles and order them whenever I see them on a menu but these had a strong seafood odor and the broth was just way undercooked and tasted of purely undercooked wine and lemon. The soup was very good though. Overall I would not return here. The staff was very friendly but the food just was a huge strikeout this visit. read more

I asked the shuttle driver who took us into town if he could recommend a place to eat. He recommended Cork's, a smallish restaurant with "Porch" seating outside. That's where we sat. I noted the sign for "Best Fish & Chips," so I was sold. (I'm sort of a fish & chips afficionado) Not the best, but surprisingly, now in my top 3. And that's saying a lot. I've had some horrible fish & chips from a variety of "upscale" seafood restaurants around the country. Another plus... they had Malt Vinegar. My wife and I ordered the fish and added a 2nd large piece to share. Our friends were very happy with their meals as well. Crab Cakes and a Caesar Salad with grilled chicken. I saw some amazing looking burgers being served around, as well. The wives finished off their meal with "Icewine" in a bittersweet chocolate shot glass. They loved it. It's Niagara on the Lake, high rent and taxes, so actually this place was perfectly priced. We had mussels and calamari to share and then a side of bread to stop up the mussel sauce because it was too good to go down the drain. Try their beer on tap I prefer the lager but their pilsner was really good too! It did seem like some of the servers were rushing but as I type this I see three standing together enjoying a quick laugh! Everyone deserves to have fun at work. Great patio for people watching on the main strip. It does have a cover, so you're not completely in the sun which is nice on a hot day. They're definitely capitalizing on the fact that this is a tourist town. I came here for lunch and ordered the lamb burger. It was $17... plus $2 for feta and another $2 for the house salad instead of friend. That being said, the portions were quite large. I was definitely full afterwards. And the burger itself was very juicy, so I was pleased. Service was okay. I asked for lemon for my water on two occasions. Despite that, I never received it. read more
