It's not like anyone who gets towed is going to be psyched about it, but let's assume that the Minneapolis Impound Lot gets four stars and do this review by comparison, okay. Getting your car back from Corky's is more than twice the price of getting it back from the Minneapolis impound lot, and the staff are not only rude and uncaring, they also initially lied to me about where to find my car, telling me it was in the adjacent side lot when in fact it was in the back lot around the block. After hanging out outside in subzero temperatures for a while, one of the drivers took me through the building and around to the back, where I was able to get my car. All of this happened during the pandemic after we had gotten the news about new and more potent strains of coronavirus, and absolutely none of the staff, in the office, in back where the mechanics are, or in various places like the drivers had a mask. None of them, and this is a public-facing job. Having to get your car back from jerks who stole it and are holding it for ransom shouldn't require risking permanent disability and death, but Corky's goes above and beyond to let you know that they really don't care about you as a person. Just to top things off, Corky's takes your car but is located such that you have to either have a ride or be able to walk for at least 15 minutes in a heavily-industrial area of North Minneapolis, which is probably not a great place to wander around if you're, say, a small woman with an obvious disability - this is to say, Corky's isn't on a bus line, and even though they took your car they won't give you a ride. I guess you're supposed to grab that spare car out of your pocket. Anyway, Corky's exists to rip you off for something that probably didn't hurt anyone and only mildly inconvenienced a wealthy capitalist who exploits other people's labor on the daily. Too bad we live in a country where people can pay to ruin the day of someone who might have inconvenienced them and run that as a successful business. Avoid if at all possible. read more

I had a lifted Ford Excursion break down in Minneapolis and had a flatbed come to pick it up. Since the truck was too large it would not fit on the flatbed. I could find no one to pick it up until someone recommended Corky's. They showed up quickly and we had a great driver who towed us 100 miles to our home. Awesome company and driver! read more

Our car was towed from a subway parking lot while we were still in subway!! We called almost immediately and they said if we wanted it back tonight it'd be 300 dollars. Just a really terrible way to run a business. First, they towed my 80 year old mother's car while she went into a Subway. In the time it took to make a sandwich, these guys got her car onto a flat bed and drove it away. Then charged her $250 to take it off. When I called them, the lady asked me to wait a minute and hung up on me. Never called me back, even after I left a message and send a text. They own a lot downtown and I saw my car leave on a tow truck about two minutes after it closed. Definitely my fault since I wasn't out in time, but they sure must have been waiting with a watch and the tow hook. What wasn't my fault was that they ripped the front factory ground effect off the front of my car, and when I noticed that and pointed it out as I was getting my car out of their impound lot the driver of the wrecker started screaming and swearing at me accusing me of lying about it, saying I'm trying to be a money-grabber (let's talk about that $230 impound fee then). Absolutely unethical and predatory business practices. I purchased a new vehicle and forgot to put a parking pass in the new one. That was my fault, but Corky's was sure to be there right away to get their hands in my pocket and squeeze every possible dollar out of me. Their signs list a $260 fee to get your car back, but what they DON'T tell you is that they pick up your vehicle just before midnight so they can charge you with an extra day of storage 5 minutes later when the clock strikes midnight. They didn't even have my vehicle for a full 24 hours, but because they carefully plan to pick up vehicles right before midnight, they get an extra $35 out of you no matter what, plus their nonsense taxes and fees. It was more than $50 more than their signs advertised to get my vehicle back, and that was after dealing with rude desk workers. The facility is absolutely filthy, and they left my vehicle even filthier, with a nice big mark on the side of my new car. I wouldn't trust them with anything, and I'll throw a party the day they're shut down. If you're going to get towed for any reason, do yourself a favor and call absolutely anybody else. read more

I received bad information on the cost of the service, and they made it as difficult as possible for me to retrieve my car. Details follow. I received an inaccurate quote on how much the tow would cost, and when I tried to pay, first they wouldn't accept payment over the phone, then they didn't have a card reader in their permanent location and they wouldn't accept a personal check. Because I'm not in the habit of carrying hundreds of dollars on my person I was kept waiting an inordinately long time trying to get my still broken down car out of their secure lot. read more

I am not sure how I got transferred to these guys. I am guessing the tow company I called was all booked up this morning so this company called me back a short time later. They showed up in about 1 hour and pulled my car out quickly. The guys were sympathetic and polite. It cost $108 but at least my insurance covers that. I live in apartment and the writing is unclear. My car was towed by this Corky's Towing; which the apartment manager could have list the name and address rather than a phone number. I call and the guy give me the address. I go to pick up my car and they accept no credit card; the fat dude told me they use the building to do some shit. The part that piss me off is they do not accept credit card. We live in the 21st century and your business cannot accept credit card. Even farm market accept EBT or Food Stamp from the government. BEWARE!!! This company engages in predatory towing practices. Their drivers sit and wait for cars, towing vehicles even if driver is doing business on the property where parked. We had our car towed tonight along with 2 other vehicles at the same time, vehicles were towed 5 minutes after we parked in a Sunday night in an empty lot. Very upset with my experience. My car was about to be towed away, the driver said it would be $100 to drop it, went in the bar he pointed out to get cash, when I returned 3 minutes later the truck and my car were gone. After taking a taxi to the impound lot (arriving before my car) the cost was $245 to get the car back. The office workers would not work with us to resolve the situation and did not care that the driver lied to us. Very maddening experience. read more

It's winter of December 2016 I saw Corky's tow guy outside my window at my apartment at the Hampshire Hill in Bloomington Minnesota, and he was selectively picking up cars to tow because if you are picking up the cars that are left behind you would up pick them up in a row. I do not understand why Hampshire Hill apartment in Bloomington Minnesota chosen them to tow because it was not close by to my apartment. It was very far!!! Corky's towing are a bunch of crooks. I don't dispute them towing my car because I was parked in a lot that needed a permit. What I have a problem with is that they damaged my car and refused to take responsibility for it. As I was trying to figure out what towing company had my car I started to do some research on them. I saw several complaints about damaged cars so when I spoke to the lady on the phone I told her I would be doing a full inspection of my car before paying. When I got there and I got my car back there was a hole in my left rear bumper. When I got the claim ticket from the woman it was clear they went back and wrote some details about damage to the rear corner of the car. My car was never in an accident and had no damage prior to being towed. If your car gets towed by these crooks be sure to inspect your car, file a compliant immediately, and take actions legally, through the BBB, and through your insurance company. It's unbelievable how they are still in business with all the reports of damaged vehicles from towing but I guess that's what happens when you deny responsibility for each one. We messed up and didn't notice that the spot we parked in was a 10 parking. We had two vehicles with us they towed both. Ok I understand. When I talk to them and explain what happened they tell me they have heard it all before and don't give breaks for military. I have never felt so disrespected, because when the girls in front of me received their vehicle free of charge and all we asked for was a half off discount. read more

I'm very disappointed that Corky's misquoted the price that it would cost to get our car out of their lot today and then charged us almost $30 extra. At first they stated it would be $300, but only $138 if my husband brought in the pay stub that showed that he had paid for his parking space (but didn't post the stub in the dash, hence the towing) last night. These parking lot trolls towed my handicapped husbands car when he was looking for the rental office for an apartment office in NE. He stopped in at US bank on the way to the office and "that is why the tow truck in the lot" towed him. We were told the office was open until 4:30 but evidently that was not the case. Their employees prowl lots wherever they have posted signs to generate cash revenue. Scum tow drivers for sure! If you are ever referred to this company, refuse the tow and ask your auto club to call another--they have no scruples--and I would not trust them read more

They resisted me inspecting my car and said I could not see it before I paid. Finally they let me see it and I found damage. They were not helpful and told me to take them to court if I wanted it resolved. Then they tried to charge me more money for complaining about the damage which is not ethical. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Corky's Towing a couple of weeks ago. Corky's towed our vehicle from the Dinkytown lot while we were at a Father's Day brunch. After getting the car back, we noticed the the tailpipe was dented and it rattled against the car's frame. We contacted Corky's and after denying the damage for a while, they offered for us to come to their "office" downtown to get it "fixed". We took it their the following day. A younger gentleman was in the office and promptly got to "fixing" our damage by using a pliers to try and bend the metal. The car is not fixed, the tailpipe is still dented. Avoid this company for your towing needs. If you have been towed by them, check for damage to your vehicle. read more

I got towed running into a store for 5 minutes (which okay I take responsibility for that) but then when I finally got my car out of the lot after paying $250 I almost get in an accident on the way home due to the towing company giving my car a flat tire. Maybe if you are going to charge so much to get a car back you should at least have responsible employees who aren't going to damage the cars. I'd like to post a warning to those driving in Minneapolis. My car was parked in a lot marked "public parking." I paid for parking while sitting in the vehicle via the parking app. When I returned to my vehicle later it was gone. I called the non-emergency police to report the vehicle stolen and the police informed that it was an "unwarranted tow." They provided me with the address to pick up the car and told me I would not have to pay any fee due to the mistaken towing by Corky's. When I arrived at Corky's, the staff refused to release my car to me and would not acknowledge the unwarranted tow that the police confirmed to me several times. Corky's then offered me a "bargain" and said they would release the car for half the charge. This is likely because they knew they had no case or evidence to support keeping the car and charging me. When police came to the scene the officer acknowledged that this situation was a part of a recognized scheme, and because it was in fact NOT a public parking lot (the owners of the lot fraudulently marked it public, but it was privately owned), it was now a civil claim. Corky's refused to release my car until I paid half the fee. This is a scam, and this company is taking advantage of many low-income people living in North Minneapolis by stealing their vehicles and refusing to release the vehicle despite evidence that parking was paid for. If you have a similar experience, I encourage you to report this business to the better business bureau and your local representatives. read more
