This one sogged out, they should use the real thing which is available through Sysco. An Amoroso's roll can stand up to all the juice. Second, this wasn't prime rib-eye, I don't know what cut it was, but is was tasteless. So was the rubbery provolone cheese. And last, it wasn't CLEAN. One cheese steak was almost 10 bucks and I didn't get fries or anything with it (maybe that was extra) the meat in the sandwich tastes just like that frozen steakum crap you get at the grocery store and it was dripping with grease. I'm always on a mission to find a great philly cheesesteak. No luck in years. Closest I came to a good one was at a pub in Scottsdale called Clancy's. The steak had no flavor and tasted waterlogged. Putting cheese whiz didn't add as much flavor as a real cheese would have. Bacon and cheese fries were also a disappointment. They were lacking substance and all the cheese melted and stuck to the bottom of the plate. I ordered through grubhub and the service was okay. They were punctual and friendly, but that about all they had going for them. I had high hopes for this restaurant and they fell short. More power to them for being in business for so long. read more

It's extremely difficult to find an edible cheese steak sandwich in Phoenix, but I discovered a shop that does it right! Tucked into a shopping center on the north-east corner of 16th St. and Camelback is a place that has the best cheese steaks in Phoenix. They also offer pizza, pretzels and wings. They have a condiment bar with sweet pickled peppers that are a great accompaniment to the sandwiches. We always order too much food because everything we've tried on the menu is a little taste of Philly. Oh well, it re-heats nicely. read more

Alright, I see this place has gotten a half and half of good and bad reviews...what I want to say is that if you do not like this place then you do not like eating...period. "I don't like processed cheese" or "the buns aren't good enough"...wtf? My friend really talked this place up so I was excited to try it, but we both walked out disappointed. I had the Chicken Italiano which is marinated chicken with provolone, spinach, and grilled onions. This portion of the sandwhich was actually really good, but the bread was awful! It seemed like it had been pulled out of a freezer. My friend was also disappointed in his cheesesteak, inside and out. Corleone's is good. My favorite is the Chicken Italiano, but sometimes the chicken is too dry. The Original is great too. I like mine with provolone instead of whiz. Both the steak and chicken are lean and sliced thin. The staff is nice and helpful, but the prices are outrageous. Stopped in today for lunch and ordered an Italian hoagie. I know they are known for the Philly cheesesteak, but I felt like some Italian meats. This sandwich was right on point, filled was lots of delicious deli meats. I godfathered it and added pepperoni. The regular size was so huge I could only eat half. The guy at the register was nice and even remebered us and said here's youse guys order without calling our number when it was ready. The oil and vinegar is what I normally add on my sandwiches and theirs was great. I've ordered Jimmy John's Italian night club when I go there and if you've ever had that Corleon's is 100 times better. Its about the same price and at Corleon's the meats are way better quality, a bigger sandwich and overall tastes way better. The only negative thing I have to say is there was no napkins in the bag and I forgot to grab some when we were waiting. I definitely know where to go next time I'm craving a sandwich and even though the Italian hoagie was great I'm going to try the cheesesteak. read more

Disclaimer: the only other Philly cheesesteaks I've ever had were at sporting events, carnivals or airport/shopping mall stands. That being said, I was invited to Corleone's and was told I had to try the Cheesesteak since I never had an authentic one. I was not disappointed. I ordered it 'onions and whiz wit' despite the fact that I usually like really good cheese. I am a HUGE fan of what I ate. The steak is really good rib eye; not some cheap, fatty mystery piece of cow. That's why you're paying so much for the sandwich. There is a row of condiments that include oregano and red pepper flake shakers and peppers in vinegar. I added those to my sandwich too. The bread is fluffy and tender; easy to bite through. The meat is choppeed just right; it's tender and juicy. The Cheez Wiz... well, it's just good stuff in this sandwich. I never thought I'd say that, but if you haven't had it wiz wit, you gotta try it that way. You won't be disappointed. The whole sandwich is an enormous order, but because I splurge on foods like this so rarely, I get the whole thing when I do. I give Corleone's a thumbs up. They use authentic meat from the Philly area and it's plenty greasy, which gives it the great taste, just ask Will Smith. I get the cheesesteak with fried onions, lots of them and they do them just right. My only complaint it the bread, not the tastiest in the world, too bad they don't get real Amoroso's from the city of brotherly love. $7 is a bit expensive for a sandwich, but if you split one with another person, its a better deal and well worth the cash.
