Dr. Corliss and his staff are very knowledgeable and caring. I'm so glad we found Corliss!

Upon walking in you'll notice a strong mildew smell, the office hasn't been updated since the 80's/90's, which should've been a blaring red flag to gtfo. Both my husband and I had back to back appointments.The dr was extremely short staffed. They had 2 employees missing that day, one had just quit(I think I now know why and the other sounded like they were on an extended vacation?) we waited over 2 hours to be seen. We were essentially seen together,husband did go back first,had his exam then they called me back for mine while my husband sat in during my exam. The dr essentially ignored any small talk I had towards him and would only really respond to my husband, I picked up on some misogyny, however considering the drs age it's par for the course. I was just there for my eyes after all, not to gain a new friend,so I chalk it up him having absolutely terrible personal skills. After our exam is complete he tells us to go pick out glasses. They really give you zero options of going outside their office for frames and they have a terribly small selection of frames. Then we were brought back to the bookkeepers office...wooo boy back to the 80's again. She even used an adding machine! What in 1985 is happening!?? Stacks of file boxes..they need to update badly. The price for the mediocre frames/lenses for both of us was almost TRIPLE the price than the previous year buying both sunglasses AND bifocal glasses elsewhere!!TRIPLE!!!!! After investing close to 3 hours of being at the appointment,we just paid what we could and ordered the glasses. We just wanted to get on with our day! Now comes to picking them up..they don't really keep with the hours posted, they leave early and whatnot so my husband and I got there @3:30 on a Friday, as we had called ahead.The door was locked,but the elderly bookkeeper opened it and led us to the room where they fit glasses. She hands me mine and the card to test how well you can see fine print, I can clearly see the fine print, she never once asks me how the far vision is, and I cannot test this because the room is so small. It took some adjustment to get them not to sit crooked on my face. She kept setting them upside down on the counter saying "see see they are even on the counter laying flat!" Last I checked people are not symmetrical and glasses are fit to your face not how flat they sit on a counter. I've never in all the years having glasses have such a weird fitting. Thankfully my husbands fit with only a little adjustment, even then she didn't seem to know wtf she was doing. Clearly this was NOT what she reg does in this office. Later in the evening when I try to watch tv, I realize I cannot see any of the letters or subtitles that I could see with my old glasses! The script is terribly wrong! I can see infinitely better with my old glasses and everything is blurry with the new glasses. I call the following Monday and they say they had a cancellation @1. When I get there the dr is huffy. He said to me "well I don't have time to give you an exam today!! But I can check the glasses to see if there was an error" yet they told me they had a cancellation...wouldn't that be a whole appointment worth of time??? He then comes back in and I can tell he's agitated and he starts being really short with me. He starts asking me about my diabetes and says it's my diabetes that's making my new glasses wrong.. and when I keep asking why my old glasses were still pretty great, that I could read far away and see subtitles with the old glasses but not the new ones,he is dismissive and starts grilling me about my diabetes control again,then he starts mentioning the slight cataract he diagnosed me with and then says he needs me to test and log my fasting blood for 2 weeks until my next appointment ,because it's my fault my new glasses don't work.. I still keep asking about why my old pair work fine and he just wouldn't have it. He just kept gaslighting me, telling me it's my diabetic issue. I am closely monitored by my primary dr and I tried telling him this but he was continuously dismissive.He made a mistake with my vision test and he's too proud or whatever to admit he's wrong. My new glasses are definitely NOT correct! If I can see better with my old glasses IT IS NOT MY HEALTH THATS A PROBLEM ITS THE INCORRECT GLASSES HE PRESCRIBED! Dr Ken Corliss needs to start paying for competent staff,update his office to bring it into the current decade AND not be greedy for money by continuing to over book himself so he doesn't make mistakes like he did with my glasses. We will NOT be returning, as well as 3 other family members. They have permanently lost our our families business! Don't go to this office it's a waste of your time, money and is a giant headache! I do not recommend Dr Corliss. I purchased a pair of eyeglasses from him, he did not measure where the bi-focal line was to go. When the glasses came, the bi-focal line was too high and interfered with my far vision to the point I could not drive safely. I went back to him that same day and instead of taking responsibility for his mistake and correcting the problem he told me to wear my glasses on the bridge of my nose to accommodate his mistake. Wearing my glasses on the bridge of my nose gives me headaches and is uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I used my insurance and paid over $100+ for the glasses. I am now forced to wearing my old glasses (one Lense has a scratch on it) and will be for the next 2 years. I am upset that Dr Corliss does not run an ethical business and does not choose to do the right thing. And the new glasses that are unwearable was a complete waste of money. read more

The staff at Dr. Corliss Optometry refused to serve me today because I declined to disclose my vaccination status. I quietly dawned the mask the asked me to wear at check in, but that was not sufficient, I guess. I have had two other appointments here in the last three months without incident and without divulging my medical history. Today, it sounds like they don't need any more of my business. UPDATE: I wish I could add more stars to my already 5 star review??! I picked up my glasses and they gave me a very thoughtful than you card, with al employees signing if, and a target gift card! This business is what it means to be taken care of and is a reason why I love puyallup! Thank you!! First optometry I've tried since living in Puyallup, and I'd like to say I am soooo happy! I wish I could point out a staff member that really helped me, but they all blew me away with their service. I felt so welcomed from the moment I entered! I just love all the amazing ladies that work for Corliss Optometrists!!! Having done my college externship through these guys over 4 yrs ago I couldn't believe it when they remembered little ol' me from Everest. Passing through Puyallup last month i had a minor accident with my contacts causing me to instantly pull my contacts out and throw them away, gotta love baby powder exploding in your face, eek! Panic set in as I quickly felt blind as a bat and no spare or glasses on me. So I took a chance and found my old friends at Dr. Ken Corliss' office and they not only remembered me they gave me a pair of contacts, afraid i wouldn't make it in time they left them sealed up and secured outside the office to make sure i'd get them. They fixed me right up. Found out I had a Astigmatism. Got me set up with new lenses and frames. Took real good care of me. What I like about it is, its a family ran company. Two brothers are the Doctors, they know their stuff and they don't BS you. The take VSB and normal insurance. I do recommend them BIG time. read more

My 4 year old daughter needed glasses and Corliss optometry had opening and was in network. From the time we walked in my gut told me to turn around. The office smelled like old food and mold, there was no receptionist or employee to be seen. We took a seat in the waiting room, and 10 mins later heard someone call from the back, "we are on lunch, we will be out when we are done." My 4 year old is very patient, however I also had my 7 month old with me. The fact that they couldn't even come out and properly greet me was very frustrating. When someone finally came out she was SO rude. She acted like she was very inconvenienced by us being there. The doctor was fine, not super personable but not rude either. Afterwords we were told to go pick out glasses. There Children's section is tiny and they all had tacky designs so I told the receptionist that I'd be getting frames elsewhere. She responded with a snide smirk and walked away. I then asked for my daughters prescription and she mumbled something under her breath. Now months later I'm dealing with a bill that should have never been because we were fully covered and they were in network. They ran it through our health insurance instead of our VSP. I have asked them multiple times to please run it through VSP and they claim they have. Every single time I call VSP and they still have not. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They've been nothing short of a pain in the ass. It takes ALOT for me to take the effort to write a negative review, but this place has some serious work to do. read more

These guys are awesome. I've been going to them for 5 years now. They are in Puyallup and even though I live in Bellevue, I still drive down to Puyallup to go to them. They have an awesome selection of frames and add-ons. In fact, I've got a pair of metal-pink Juicy Couture's on their way! ^_^ And you couldn't ask for a nicer, more attentive staff. If you want to chatter, they can chatter- but I've noticed that they aren't all up in your face at the same time. VERY relaxed situation which puts you at ease. Straight forward and they take VSP insurance for the entire 5 years I've been going to them. A+++++ read more

From reading the 3 five star reviews I wish I could have actually experienced there service. Unfortunately I showed up with a photo of my insurance card and they apparently are not current enough technology wise to check eligibility online. They stated they needed a physical card to make a copy of? Not sure what the difference is in them taking a copy of the I.D. Card or me just forwarding them an email photo of it, either way it would need to be verified online for eligibility. Every doctor, dentist we have seen in Puyallup the last 5-7 years has been ok with this, oh well. read more

I've been going here since I was a kid. I live in Seattle now but still commute back to Puyallup for the great services Dr. Corliss and his friendly staff provide. Recently I had a problem with my vision. The first thing Dr. Corliss tried fixed the issue. It was a bit concerning at first so it was relieving when he was able to properly diagnose and treat me so efficiently. Just want to say I highly recommend this office and that I am thankful for the excellent eye care I have received here through out my life. read more

Hands down the best optometrist office I've ever been to. Not only was I greeted with a smile, the appointment was very high quality. I was having trouble seeing street signs, so I assumed I would need a strong prescription. Come to find out, I have astigmatism! The woman who helped me pick out my frames was very polite and knew what she was talking about. Absolutely no issues with insurance, and glasses can within a week.
