We stopped for dinner, asked to be seated on the roof because it was nice outside. The host was very friendly, sharply dressed, the music inside was nice and not too loud. We arrived to our area, and the waitress serving said to pick anywhere. We chose a table and sat down, immediately noticed the music was overwhelmingly loud. There were plastic cups on other tables from former patrons and the cups stayed there for our entire visit. We ordered, a Philly cheese and the Alltime Sandwich, curly fries. The food was good. The service remained sub-par. My diet coke tasted like water and had no carbonation. I was told it would take 5 minutes for our server to replace it because she would have to walk downstairs, or I could order something else. It took forever to receive our check. As we were leaving, another table received their pizza. They had ordered spinach and sausage, but received a cheese pizza. When they brought it up to the server, she told them they were out of the ingredients they wanted so she just replaced the order with cheese without talking to them. She offered to have a different pizza made, but they had already waited 20 minutes for the wrong pizza. read more

Sadly I did not try the food here, but the drinks were so so good. I had the freshest mojito, and my friend had the watermelon margarita. Service was so sweet and personal. Had a nice chat with the bartender who gave us the run down of the town. There is rooftop seating but we didn't get a chance to go up top. During my last visit to this restaurant I was very impressed with the quality of the food and customer service that I received here. They even gave me a tour of this very unique restaurant. I invite you to read that review and view my photographs that always accompany my reviews. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that it would be appropriate this year to go back to this restaurant and write a follow-up review, since my initial review was one of my reviews that contributed to me obtaining this highly esteemed Award. Unfortunately, this time around things weren't so great. First of all, when I arrived at 6:00pm on a Saturday for dinner, there was no one at the Host's station to welcome me and take me to a table. I waited for a while and still no one came to greet me. I walked in and finally a server greeted me and I asked her if a could be seated in the dining room whete the pizzas brick over was. That was the place where I sat during the first time That I reviewed this restaurant. She happily took me there and had me sit at a booth. To drink I asked her for a Margarita Mocktail, which she asked for the bartender to make and it came out very good. As an appetizer I asked for the Boom Boom Shrimp with the Boom sauce on the side, just in case it was too hot & spicy for me. The shrimps were delicious: soft in the inside and just the right amount of crunchiness on the outside, and the sauce also had just the right amount of spice. For the main course I ordered the All-time Combo Sub Roll with a side of Spiral Fries. The bread of the sandwich was not fresh and they put very few meats inside compared to the plentiful amount they had included last time I was here. This was a disappointment because I had come especially because I had enjoyed my sandwich last time. Then when I finished I ask my server if they had anything for dessert and if they had the Peanut Butter Pie, since I ordered it last time and loved it. She went back to see and since they didn't I ordered a piece of their Carrot Cake and asked if they can include ice-cream with it. When my server came back with it I asked for a spoon to be able to eat it. First of all it was a very thin slice and dry inside.A would say that a piece of Carrot Cake from the Golden Corral would have been 10 times better. The topping wasn't too creamy either. And the vanilla ice-cream, even though they charged me extra for it, wasn't even a scoop, but you could see they were a collection of leftover scoops from the container in the freezer. What another disappointment about this place. I hate when a place is not consistent with the quality of their food nor service. After my server brought my bill and I paid it with my credit card. As I was walking out, someone, I think it must have been the manager, yelled out ":Thanks for Coming." Yet never was I visited and ask how my food had been. Needless to say, my dining experience this time had not been good. I hope the manager reads this constructive criticism of my follow-up review and takes action to remedy what was done wrong, for after some time I will give it another try, and it needs to have consistency if I were to recommend it. read more

My good rating would definitely be from the service. My husband and I met here over 30 years ago waiting tables. Our waitress was very interested in our story. They have grown and changed quite a bit since we worked here but they still had some of our favorites on the menu. We had spiral fries, and sandwiches we wanted to eat again. Everything tasted like we remembered. We were having a late lunch during the week so it wasn't really busy. Food: Overall the food is fine. The "Legendary Spiral Fries" sprinkled with house made Parmesan seasoning are nothing special. The Parmesan seasoning is just Parmesan from the can and not enough of it at that. The spiral cut fries are the same as a freezer bag fry. Nothing special. Service: The hostess was pleasant and attentive. The woman tending bar (and handling to-go orders) is the wrong person to be helping customers. No smiles, no thank you's, just attitude. She'd make a better dishwasher, just staring at a wall and washing dishes all night, than the person you have representing your business. Seriously though, she does not belong around customers. I have worked in the service industry for 6 years and that is not that way to treat your customers at all. We stood there for three minutes, and we walked out and went over to Frankie Rowland's steakhouse instead and dropped a lot of money there. This place is massive. We arrived for lunch and was told by a complaining waitress that it was crowded but felt very empty at the entrance. The whole establishment is definitely a grungy bar vibe. We waited a while for drinks and food but also had a big group so it was understandable. I really enjoyed my club sandwich. Others got the pizza which was thin crust New York style and delicious. These folks were so friendly. We were catching a train to DC and were early. Norfolk doesn't have a station. You wait outside on a bench by the tracks. We walked a block and found Corned Beef. When we asked if we could come in out of the cold they were gracious and welcomed us in. We ended up getting some coffee. First of all, kudos to the manager. My wife and I were on the sidewalk looking through the window to determine if we wanted to eat there. We turned around to keep walking when the manager came out and introduced himself, told us about their delicious Reuben sandwiches. We decided to give it a try. We got the corned beef Reuben and the grill fired margarita pizza with a few drinks; all was delicious. The service was the best part. Our server was fantastic, we sat next to the brick oven and the person making our pizza was very friendly, and another employee walking by asked us if we needed anything. In most places you're lucky if your server provides good service at all, in this case, we had excellent service from four different employees. It's obvious they care. KUDOS! read more

I like this place. If you're looking for a safe haven and a decent meal then Corned Beef is a place to try. The food here is great, service is good and there's a pool table. Try hard and you will find corned beef on the menu. It's buried in the sandwich section. As I don't do sandwiches I've passed on this pleasure over the years. What I have had and enjoyed are their ribeye steaks. Cooked properly and with a nice hint of seasoning these beasts make my paleo diet. I substitute their fabulous cheddar mash potatoes for broccoli because I don't do dairy. When I did, oh how I loved those mashed potatoes! I hate broccoli normally but this restaurant saves a nasty vegetable by adding garlic and, well something so they taste better. The bar is large and flooded with TV sets. If you have a mind for it you can watch news, sports and more sports. In the background you hear that familiar crack of a pool table. Service/Experience: 4 stars No complaints with the service, as we were seated immediately on Friday evening, and our order was placed relatively quickly. The waiters checked on us and refilled our drinks frequently. It took a little time for our food to come out. Plenty of seating area inside, as there are 2-3 floors and a rooftop patio. I am disappointed to see that this place is not following CDC recommendations, such as mask mandates, social distancing, and cleaning surfaces between uses. We had reservations and believed that meant that we would have a table away from others and did not expect to be surrounded by people without masks standing asses-to-elbows before we even ordered our meals. We watched as people exited and others sat without any care to wipe down surfaces and the staff allowed people to gather in large groups in every common area and people entering with no masks in large numbers. I know that some restrictions have lifted, but to act like it is business as usual is careless at this point in the fight. Places like this will get other restaurants closed again. I write this review in hopes that management can take these recommendations and implement a safe and fun experience for everyone. I was here with a group of friends on a Saturday night, attracted by a beautiful roof-top safe heaven and a desire for some safety and drinks during these times. We've really been trying to keep ourselves, as well as others, safe; and at the same time patronize establishments so they can keep their doors open and keep their staff employed. We honor wearing masks inside, maintaining a safe distance from strangers, and wearing a mask when talking with bartenders and wait-staff (even if we are seated). What we experienced at Corned Beef was not a situation I'd like to be in again. From the bouncer to maskless wandering patrons and an extremely rude security guard (who acused my friend of being drunk, forced him to remove his mask so he could "properly see his face", then, w/o apologizing, said he was "good" and left.....), the experience felt rude and disrespectful to the intention of safety standards set by the bar and restaurant industry. The extra star was only because our bartenders were extremely sweet and just seemed thankful to have respectful patrons in the establishment. The roof-top, which would have been a great space (you could even charge people for access and have a time-limit on the space) was closed. CLOSED!! Yes, a fully-lit, perfectly good outdoor space, on the roof, closed on a Saturday during the height of leaf-peeping season. We decided to take our patronage somewhere a little more aware of the needs of their staff and their customers. I hope this was just a bad night, I hope they can look to their neighboring establishments for a more sustainable and serious model of running a bar during a pandemic. I hope. read more

This place is just over the top ... After a mediocre meal at a local Mexican restaurant my wife and I decided to drive into downtown Roanoke to see if we could find a place for a drink. Go no further, this is the place to be! Located in the market area of Roanoke, which has numerous restaurants, bars and dance club, Corned Beef & Co was just a lucky find for us. Granted, the crowd definitely leans toward the 30s, we had a great seat at a high top in the bar and a very attentive waiter. The place was packed - it was Friday night and the Roanoke area was still suffering from power outages. We didn't eat but will definitely stop in the next time we are in town for a meal. read more

The only reason this restaurant got 2 stars instead of one is because the waitress was very nice and the food was fast. However.... I can forgive running out of corned beef on St Patrick's Day before 7pm (even though that is your actual name) and I can forgive putting pickles on a Reuben but it absolutely unforgivable to advertise yourself as a sports bar and have a sitcom on a big TV during March Madness. This place is terrible... the place is dirty... the bathrooms are gross. The floors are sticky....their food sucks... the bartenders cant make drinks properly... the managers and security are very rude. I have been there many times over the years. Mostly to go out on weekends. I got all dressed up in a beautiful dress... I get in there and am carded at the door like usual and paid 10 dollars to get in they stamped my hand and I walked in went straight in to find my friends I was there a whole 3 minutes before the security guard comes up to me telling me that management wants me to leave. I hadn't even had time to get a drink or anything yet. I ask them why I am being kicked out and they give me no answer. I told them I wanted my money back and the jerk at the door wasn't going to give it back and I demanded I wanted my money back. The guy looks over at another guy and he nods his head as to say give her her money back. And I ask them over and over why I am being kicked out and they refused to give me a reason why and told me not to come back. My friend is sitting there asking them the same question and the guy wouldn't tell her either he just said you can come back but she can't. I did absolutely nothing wrong to these people. Like I said I was there a whole 5 mins before they kicked me out. I wasn't drunk I hadn't had not one drink... I was wearing a long cute dress so I know it wasn't my attire. They had no problem letting me in at 1st. So what could have possibly came up in five minutes that made them bar me? And refuse to tell me why? They were extremely rude and had terrible customer service. I do not recommend this place to anyone. The only good thing about the place is the actual building itself. It's really large has 4 different bars. Has three downstairs and one upstairs and they have a rooftop balcony. The building and location is all they have going for them. She denied my friend entry bc he was wearing "athletic shorts" even though I wore ripped jeans and they let me in. They were not athletic shorts (lady tried to argue w/ us too). And the bathroom as the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, I actually ended up just not using it- see pictures! Corned beef is not bad!! I tried their ribs and they were too big for me to finish! (Minus one star because their fries could improve) I love how it's a vintage building with obvious history, probably used to be a department store or something awesome. The waitress somehow knew when we needed refills even though we were alone on the second floor! How cool is that?! I like the division between bar and restaurant by the gorgeous staircase.
