I did not enjoy my food here, my partner did. I only liked the sausage, I found my french toast to be very dry. I also asked for no bananas and they quite literally hid them under whip cream specifically. Thank God I'm not allergic, they just overpower anything they are in and I tasted them immediately what a terrible thing to do to a customer. The real issue came with checking out. My partner, ask for the checked, she brought it and he immediately handed her his card. She takes it and starts to go but then the table next to us flags her down and she literally stops dead in her tracks to take care of them. Im talking taking full orders, answering questions etc meanwhile we are staring at her in disbelief. We have never had this happen to us in a restaurant. My partner said shes just a bad waitress, I believe it was implicit bias. At least im choosing to believe that over outright prejudice. Everything in her told her she could not leave these white people waiting while she wrapped up a check, but we, the black people absolutely could wait. It was just so bizarre. She was standing there that long with the other table with my partners card and check in hand that at one point she even glanced up because again, we have never experienced service like this and just blatantly held hostage while she tended to people she deemed more important. This was our only experience like this in Newport, we will back to Newport but will not be back here.
Honestly, this place is worth the wait in line. The line actually goes pretty quick. This was our first stop once we got to Newport early that morning. I am such a traditionalist when it comes to breakfast, as long as I am not at a Mexican restaurant. So my goto would be two eggs overeasy, sausage, bacon, some sort of potato side, toast and a side of pancakes, and that's why I ordered The Beast. When somone else at the table gets something different they are always kind enough to share, which what happened at our table that morning The son-in-law order an omelete and I want to say it had salmon in it, and he let me have a piece and it was delishes. Our daughter ordered a sweet breakfast called the Portley's Portuguese French Toast, she liked it. The service was great, fast and efficient. The place is small but it works. They only have one restroom, so you will have to wait for it. I would definintely come back for breakfast.
Actually pretty good. We came here to enjoy tennis at the Newport Hall of famed and wanted brunch beforehand They're very, very, very small place. It's very tight. The line goes around the corner. Since it was just the two of us. They moved us ahead and had a seated at the bar which is not my preferred seating. But whatever. Maybe because it was Sunday and brunch hours were prime. California special Benedict. It came with avocado, toast, spinach, roasted vegetables, home fries. I added some pork sausage. It was a lot of food. I couldn't finish it all. I also got a cup of tea. They're tee options are not great. The other complaint I would have is that their bathroom is really insufficient. They have one bathroom for the entire establishment which is not acceptable. They actually have a waitlist for the bathroom. WTF. I get that they're small but they really need to fix that. That's not going to fly when they're very busy, especially during brunch hours. I don't know what their parking situation is but most of it's on the street and on Sunday it's free. Overall I think the price is okay given the quality of the food. All of my food plus my friends was over $60. It's a little bit on the high side if you ask me but given the food was tasty, I'll let it slide. I think if you're in the area you should give it a shot
Love the food here. I ordered the california Benny. Potato is well season with pepper. Love the poach eggs, with spinach and pepper. Wife got the victoria omlette, which i think is ok, but she loved it. Kids got the French toast and pancake. They both love the food, and pretty much cleaned the plate. We sat in the corner, which is fitting since the name of the restaurant is corner cafe. It is a cute spot, like sitting in a bay window. Service is very attentive.
This restaurant is a must go to if you're in Newport, RI! There's always a line, but it's worth the wait and it moves so fast! The service is the best I've seen! The owner checked on our table and the waiter was so attentive. The ambiance was very comforting. There's a lot of people fit into a small space, but it still feels so spacious. The food is amazing! They give you great portions, it comes out hot, and it's very flavorful. There's a variety of options which makes it so hard to choose from. I wish I could eat here every morning.
Great service. Delicious breakfast! This is a very cute place but does get busy but we were able to be seated within 10 minutes. Food came out fast as well and service was wonderful. The breakfast was really good and the potatoes were some of the best I've had in a while. Tried the cowboy scramble but there's a lot of unique options! If you're staying in the area, it's a short walk and worth it !!!
My friend and I were in the area on a weekday to visit the Audrain Automobile Museum and based on some reviews, we decided to have some breakfast here beforehand. It's a cute place, with plenty of parking in the area and about a dozen tables inside. Although it was a busy, the food came out at a good time and the service was good. I decided to have a typical breakfast - potatoes, English muffin, eggs, and bacon with an order of French toast for dessert. I was mostly excited about the potatoes because of what other customers commented; I was pleased with the pesto like flavor they had. The bacon was cooked well, but on the thinner end. The English muffin was grilled with butter, delicious. The French toast was simple, and regular bread was used (instead of the thick bread) so the syrup was able to penetrate through better. I would be happy to come back and try other items since their menu has a lot to offer.
Adorable cafe in Newport. Cozy small got here very early and didn't have to wait but you could see how busy it could get. We're in the off-season too! Sweetest wait service .. love the accent!!! food was very yummy. Price is really reasonable. I definitely must go to for breakfast when in the area.
What a cute place! Beth was an awesome server who, thankfully, told me to try the Wooten's French Toast with the DELICIOYS, homemade Pecan Maple Butter before using syrup... great advice! I had 2 eggs over easy on the side as well. It is a popular place with delicious and unique food, so expect a line outside. YUMMY!
We heard so much about this place and finally got to try it out! We waited outside for about 10 minutes, and we're seated in a really nice comfy booth. Service was very good, all staff were friendly and kind! The food was decent. Really depends on what you get. The California Benny was delicious, perfectly poached egg, fresh ingredients with peppers and spinach. Home fries are the large potato kind. Do not recommend multigrain French toast with apples.. The mix of ingredients did not gel well at all. But the staff was very kind and gave us our money back! On the other hand, the spice chai latte was delicious! We wanted to come back and get it to go, too bad they do not take to go orders.
There was quite a line when we arrived, but we were seated in about 15 minutes. There was seating indoors & outdoors, but we chose outdoors because the indoor seating was quite dim. We ordered the egg, bacon, and potato sourdough plates & the Longhorn burger with fries, and the pancakes topped with yogurt, raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry. Everything was delicious. The potatoes were especially well seasoned, and the Longhorn burger was cooked perfectly. All the portions were good. The service was excellent. It was sometimes hard because our server was inside, but she was very nice. FYI, there are a lot of bees outside so be aware!!!

This place is amazing. If your on vacation or traveling through. It is definitely worth a stop in. Or two lol. Bit get there early. They get busy very very fast. The food is always amazing. full of flavor always looks good and the taste is always consistent. There are many other places in town to have breakfast. But this is always my first choice. Does not matter what dish you have you will never ever be disappointed. The Customer service is always on par. The women are joyful pleasant and friendly. read more

We are here for a conference and wanted to try a breakfast spot before we headed to the lectures. We went on a Thursday morning and wait time was minimal (about 15 minutes). The inside is small, cute, and quaint. Very cozy vibes. Service was great. Staff was very friendly. Based off the menu I can tell there was an Irish and Portuguese influence, which was exciting for us since we live in Arizona and don't get a ton of that in our food culture. I stuck with basics (just introducing meats, eggs etc after lent season and having pescatarian diet). The basics were tasty! My eggs were done well (not too dry and too watery), bacon was standard and the season potatoes were yummy. I also added pancake with maple butter. Let me tell you, GASP . Maple butter is dangerously good! My boyfriend had the crab and prosciutto omelette which was on their special menu. He said there was lots of flavors that blended well together. He thought it was very savory and bountiful. Price for this place is a winner for the proportions, taste in food, quality in food. We definitely would go back again. If you are in the Newport area check them out and give them some love. read more
Very convenient location and fast service! I visited on a Thursday morning so my perception of service may be a bit skewed but we were sat immediately upon walking in and our food came out rather quickly. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, service was great here. The food itself was just good, standard breakfast food. I personally ordered the French toast and while it wasn't anything out of this world, it was still enjoyable. Super cute, would recommend! read more
Another great dining experience in Newport. We came here for breakfast early on a Friday and it was already packed. We loved the food, service, and comforting, casual vibe of the restaurant. The menu is unique with lot of items that are Irish and Portuguese inspired. You can't go wrong with the Irishman omelet and those potatoes are some of the best I've had. read more

Stopped by here for breakfast as it there is a huge line and reviews are phenomenal! And I can totally see what the rage is all about ! I got the pesto omelette with potatoes it was delicious and perfectly seasoned AND I'm usually not a fan of eggs ! The latte was delicious and pancakes were great too ! It is a must for anyone in town looking for a breakfast / brunch/ or lunch spot . You must get here early and there usually is a wait but it is well worth it ! read more

Overall: lovely service people and community but it doesn't make up for their subpar food especially with diner staples. Food: I'll start backwards because their pancakes were the stuff you get at summer camp as a kid. Flat limp and no air. The scrambled eggs lacked air as well but also salt and creaminess. Could use a dollop of butter in the cooking process. The French toast scrambled egg dish was actually really tasty and refreshing but separately. The feta cheese scramble part was good but the French toast was just a piece of toast. Lacked the cinnamon egg wash tastiness. Eggs Benny didn't have the poached egg yolk run which is the only red flag you need. Ambience/Decor/Service: extremely busy but the service was very hospitable. Local shop living up to local shop hospitality. The ambience was a packed house all cozy with day trippers to Newport looking for a brunch spot. read more

Sunday will be little bit busy so we had waited for our food for a long while. Ovos Acores taste good, the ground meat is little too salty, but the bread underneath is soft and taste good. I came here for French Toast since I saw picture from Google Map. But The French Toast doesn't taste as my expected because they are using Sourdough. So it's not soft enough, but the pecan honey butter is really special. When the dish comes, it's too hot so whipped cream all melt. I asked staff to provide some extra whipped cream. It's a small business, no fancy decoration in the store, but it's a good choice to have a brunch on weekend. read more
Love this place! Excellent coffee. The staff are super friendly. Very upbeat atmosphere! If quiet is what you're looking for it's not the place. Egg Benedict done perfect! We were given this recommendation by the desk clerk at the Carriage House Inn. When we arrived there, it was bustling with activity and it appeared that the restaurant was full. Nevertheless, we were seated immediately and one of the wait staff came over immediately and took our order. The first surprise was the size of the coffee mugs. They were not the typical small diner coffee cups. We opted for the Vitamin Booster juice, which surprisingly delicious without being over sweetened. The wait staff was super efficient, friendly, and patient as I spilled my large mug of coffee and made a huge mess. If you are ever in Newport, this is a must stop. read more
Landed in Newport with some new friends and we checked out the Corner Cafe because of their hours of operation, diverse menu, and excellent reviews. I really like this place. Had that beach vibe. Packed full of people. Friendly service (Sara and Molly) Great menu options. Super tasty food. Breakfast all day and night! The chef in the back (Cesar) is the man. Food was delivered accurately, timely, and perfectly. You will love this place too. The breakfast potatoes that I got with "The Beast" were a revelation. Flavor explosion. read more

Being in town for only a short time we wanted to grab breakfast and then get going. When we saw a few people in-line at 8am we knew the food must be good. We were very happy the line moved quickly. Fast, friendly service, cozy atmosphere and delicious fresh ingredients came next. Clearly the ingredients were locally sourced and not from a pallet in a delivery truck. Thick bacon, avocado, peppers, custom sausage.... The food came fast and the service was attentive. I will be back. read more

Get there early or you will wait outside at least 15-20 minutes. We sat at the bar and the ladies working were all super nice. Ordering was quick and easy. Food comes out hot. Definitely order the hot chocolate. It was really yummy and I wanted more. Food was solid. I would add some seasoning to the eggs but I understand most places do not season scrambled eggs. It is busy inside, every table full on the weekend but noise level was not too loud. I could still talk normal and hear just fine. Prices are comparable. Not expensive imo. read more

This place gets filled up quick. The line wrapped around the corner, but it moved fast. We were seated at the corner of the cafe, cozy and comfy. We ordered the cowboy scramblers and the artisan wholewheat French toast. The portion was big. We got really full. The jalapeño, salsa, and sour cream in the cowboy scrambler were a good combo. The bread underneath was too soggy though. The caramelized apple in the French toast was overly sweet, but the rest of the ingredients were delicious. It's worth a visit if you are visiting Newport. read more

Get there early and we did! 10 minutes before opening time(7:30). We were 3rd group in line. It is off-season or I think it would have been tough getting in but it sure was worth the wait. Corner table at the Corner Cafe was fantastic with views of everyone walking by. The food was excellent. I got eggs, sourdough toast, and some of the best home fries I have ever had. In hindsight I wish I would have added bangers but luckily I got to taste them from one of our table mates and they were scrumptious. Good service as well. We were out in no time because we loved it so and wanted to let the next group come in. If in the area, this is a no brainer if you don't mind a wait or are strategic like us and get there early. read more

We were intimidated by the line at first, but heard great things. Glad we stuck around because the line moved reasonably fast. The staff is so friendly and patient even though it's crowded. The food was also great. Delicious French toast and sausage. But the more exciting dish was the chorizo eggs Benedict. The chorizo was different but in a good way. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be back. As many said the line gets long so I assume if you don't want to wait, to get there early! read more

The line was relatively short and it moved very quickly. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There were at least 4 who assisted and took care of us for breakfast. Molly was our server and was top notch. All three of our plates were clean when we were done. We ordered "The Beast", "The Homefry Fiesta" and a French toast special with fried apples. All delicious. The cups of coffee are enormous and tasty. I like mine black and it was a smooth cup of dark coffee. It gets busy and stays busy. read more

I've been here multiple times and it blows my mind that I've never written a review! So here we go... Corner Cafe has become our go to brunch spot. It's cute and quaint inside- tight seating so fyi if you're claustrophobic, but the vibe is welcoming, comforting and cozy! Breakfast options are plenty, even if you're on a restricted eating plan, there is literally something for everyone. I generally order Claudia's omelet and that Boursin cheese just makes it delicious! Their hot beverages are great. I'm always one with the annoying little modifications (#restricteddiet) and they are SUPER awesome in accommodating!! I'm sure we will be back! read more

Had to make a stop here on my trip to Newport since it was one of the most highly rated breakfast/brunch spots in Newport! Overall I think it did live up to the hype--all the lattes and entrees were as expected and prepared well. Service had a team/family feel, and we were asked about drink orders by 3 different servers who just wanted to make sure we had been helped. They have a list of tasty specialty coffees/lattes that I didn't see online but saw in person--the lattes were creamy, warm, a good balance of sweetness, and filling. The California benedict was good; I especially liked their herb-seasoned potatoes that came on the side but the whole meal was a very solid benny. The Ponderosa breakfast burrito is a good choice if you have a craving for a traditional American breakfast (eggs, bacon, cheese, potatoes) wrapped up inside a toasty tortilla. I might pick something else for next time because it wasn't necessarily unique. What bummed me out was that the ingredients were unevenly spread throughout the burrito--no bacon on one half, no cheese on the other half. read more
