clams & chorizo in a white wine sauce

johnny's was a last minute decision as it was truly the only place we could get a reservation for so last minute. we didn't know what to expect but we were so glad we did once we went! beautiful outdoor area & great service. our waitress was so personable & attentive. we sat outside even though the weather wasn't great, but they have a tent with a bunch of tables underneath. everything ate was so good - from apps to dessert, the garlic bread & chocolate covered strawberries were the standouts. they also had a band playing which really added to the atmosphere!

Lobsters scraps and about 10 French fries for $42+

Terrible lobster roll. Not fresh. Way overpriced. $42 for lobster scraps and about 10-12 French fries is a ripoff.

I just want to give a shoutout to Steve at Johnny's at the Wyndham for saving us last month during the boat show week. We needed a last minute reservation for 11 dignitaries from other countries during this busy week and JOHNNY's really stepped up to accommodate our group ( after being cancelled last minute by another restaurant on Ocean Drive, without explanation). Johnny's provided a great set up for dinner, with FANTASTIC food- lobster dinners and fish dinners too. Service was impeccable! Our party was even able to sit outdoors on the patio and enjoy the fire pit overlooking the water at sunset- definitely a bonus to a great evening. Thanks to Steve, the owner's son, for bending over backwards to accommodate our large group. You turned what could have been a disaster into a phenomenal evening. Thank you so much for your personal efforts, and for your caring and excellent customer service.

It feels so good to give a five star review and be 100% satisfied with your meal. I had the lobster mac & cheese which can be very hit or miss depending on where you are. I have gotten it places that have left me very disappointed. I loved the dish I got here, I do want to add though that I asked for no breadcrumbs and that they did not bake it as I feel like that typically dries it out. My husband got the seafood platter and loved it he said it was nice and light so it didn't give you that heavy feeling. The clam cakes were delicious cooked perfectly. We got a few drinks that were really good, steady as she goes and a peach lemonade. Tasted great and the perfect amount of liquor so you don't feel like you were drinking juice. We had a great time here the food was delicious the prices were fair and we will definitely be back again!

Don't let the location of this restaurant fool you! Our food was immaculate ! I'd recommend the lampchops and the shrimp and feta pasta. Both were delish. Our waitress was awesome. Highly recommended

Their outdoor patio space is one of the most beautiful settings in the Middletown/Newport area. The space is open, warm, inviting with spectacular views of Green End and Easton Pond. The service was attentive and welcoming. The food - every dish was amazing and the prices incredibly reasonable for the area. A definite must when dining in the Middletown/Newport area!

    Calamari- delicious!

Enjoyed an afternoon at this patio bar before we hit up the beach. Beautiful views and nice breeze! I really enjoyed a drink special called "steady as she goes" made with elderberry and vodka. It was light and refreshing. Calamari was really good with the wasabi sauce. Hubs and I then split a tuna melt. I would've like the bread toasted a bit more but overall it was very good. I would've given five stars had our server been a bit more attentive. He never came back to check on our food or to ask if we needed anything else. It was a blazing hot day and had he come over sooner we would've definitely had that extra round of drinks but we were ready to wrap it up and hit the beach!

Beautiful patio but couldn't eat what we wanted
    Gerri M.

Great view and beautiful patio but the management is ridiculous- we checked the menu on Yelp and chose this place but they said those dishes weren't served on the patio!! We would have to go inside on a gorgeous day! We went there especially for the patio and the menu. There was no one there on Tuesday afternoon- one other occupied table - see my pictures! You would think that they would accommodate the customers that they did have there. I could have chosen dozens of restaurants with food that I did want if I wanted to eat inside --ridiculous!! If my husband wasn't so hungry we would have left- so we ordered things that we really didn't want just so we could stay outside. The food was just ok - certainly nothing to go back for , the server was great.

Salmon cob salad. Originally doesnt come with cheese so I added feta. Salmon was an extra $8 or $9 heck maybe $10 dollars.

We sat in the Conservatory and I loved being surrounded by lush foliage and clean black and white stripe decor. On to the food--- This is not a drill. Do not skip the raw oysters. The mignonette - excellent! They were the best of the weekend (and we have had quite a bit) Our server Tiffany was attentive and made excellent suggestions. We ordered crab toast as well and it was very very good. Then followed with a Caesar salad and clam chowder to share. I couldn't decide between little neck clams and the rabbit tagliatelle and she brought the clams as a surprise. They were HANDS DOWN the best I've ever had. She really made my night. The pasta was also incredible. My selections were favorites of the table. A dinner companion ordered a steak but it was a little over cooked but the manager Rory went above and beyond taking care of us. I'm not sure what they do to make the most perfect French fries but hands down I've never had one like this. Figure out a way to order them. The Can't Elope cocktail was the best I had in Newport. It was balanced, refreshing and all around perfection. We also loved the Paper Tiger! Finished with a sticky toffee pudding that was a star of the meal. I wish I wasn't so full or I would have finished it I cannot recommend this restaurant enough 5 stars.

We chose the Conservatory for our lunch, and that was the right choice! Nice bright, garden room feel, with big windows. Service was fantastic and the food was amazing. We had oysters on the half-shell to start which was delicious, then the lobster roll and egg salad. Both were fantastic! Really enjoyed ourselves. It was inexpensive, of course, but it was well worth the experience.

Service was slow, and despite our server writing everything down, two people at our table were brought completely different meals than what they actually ordered. Not minor mistakes or missing sides -- entirely wrong meals. Then came the fries. They were accidentally brought to our table, we were told we could have them, some were eaten, and then the server came back and took them away. Apparently even the fries realized they were at the wrong table and left. I ordered the $25 grilled chicken BLT, and the chicken was so overcooked and dry it was basically chicken jerky. For $25, I expected a decent sandwich, not something that required determination and strong jaw muscles to finish. Overall, overpriced, underwhelming food with service to match. The view is beautiful, but thankfully the ocean doesn't charge $25 for disappointment.

This bar & restaurant has three floors filled with plenty of entertainment until 1AM. We started off our first night in Newport by having an early dinner here on a Friday. We sat ourselves at the bar on the first floor. The bartenders were friendly and attentive - no complaints on service. To start off, I ordered my usual drink... a classic margarita. It was strong and tarty with a good kick. Their menu offers your typical American pub food like burgers, sandwiches, wings, tacos, wraps, etc. They had a BOGO deal for their spicy fried chicken sandwich (~$14), so we couldn't resist saying no to that lol. The meal included a spicy fried chicken, lettuce, pickles, and spicy aioli sauce on a brioche bun with a side of fries. The portion size was generous and just enough to fill my belly, but not enough to put me into a food coma. The chicken was tender and juicy and I loved how fluffy and buttery the brioche bun was. There was a little too much batter on the chicken than I would have liked, but it was still a delicious sandwich nonetheless. The fries were super crispy and crunchy, 10/10. I'm curious to know what their other sandwiches taste like! Around 8pm, it turns into more of a bar/club atmosphere. It gets progressively packed and loud. There are bouncers at the door to check for IDs and to handle cover fees (if needed). There's live music every weekend from 8-11pm, as well as a DJ from 11pm - closing. The top floor of the restaurant hosts their famous Dueling Piano show where two entertainers perform and engage in playful competition. You request songs for them to play on a grand piano, so it's a fun and interactive experience. Reservations are required in advance. Check their website for the full schedule of their live music performances and show times. Since we got there early, we were able to keep our seats at the bar to watch the live music performance. The crowd was pretty diverse and a mix of all ages. Everyone was having a great time!

Ingrid was FANTASTIC. I have a shellfish allergy, and while Castle Hill, despite very obviously being known for their incredible marine menu, has always accommodated me, never in my life have I felt so well taken care of in terms of allergies. Ingrid asked questions, checked in on any shared dish, and was the right kind of attentive. Being in hospitality my whole life, this is the kind of work ethic and care you reward. Another name to mention is Carly. We came on her first day just this week and she was extremely attentive and eager. She was up for the challenge (serving my family, lol) and was incredible. The Bohlin is an impressive location and I was glad to experience an event there. Was not at all impressed with the service, ever, especially for a special event venue catering largely to weddings where service is everything. To be clear, it was a brunch buffet, not a sit down meal. That said, it was Mother's Day. Tables were set beautifully. Server brought us water, nothing else. If we wanted a cocktail, we had to stand at the bar and get it ourselves. Coffee after lunch? Ditto. Brunches have multiple courses. We should have been given clean cutlery in exchange for the removal of a plate instead of being forced to lay dirty cutlery on a clean ivory tablecloth and then reuse them, again and again. That part was a total turnoff and not encouraging for anyone considering it as a future event venue. The food offering was varied and generally a success. The bacon was delicious and good quality. The frittata bites were a good and elegant option to the usual chafing dish full of scrambled eggs. Kudos to the chef for the beef sirloin although at $95 a head, one might have expected a carving station over sliced beef steaks piled into a chafing dish that just dried out the beef over time. The accompanying horseradish cream was quite good. Everyone seemed to really love the raw bar and raclette station. The desserts were well curated , not just slabs of sweets on the table. The pasta dishes? Meh. The cacio e pepe was nothing more than a runny version of the mac and cheese from the kids table with some pancetta or proscuitto specks in it. Fairly tasteless. Location was wonderful but at that likely price point for a private event, I thought the experience was mediocre. Looking forward to going back to Castle Hill instead.
